Freaky Weird-Baby Moniter Story!

I had turned the baby moniter on and thought that it was so sweet the Emily (my oldest DD) was reading Claudia a story. As I was listening to the story I thought "that's funny I don't remember us having that book!" Then I thought Claudia had started to cry, so I went running up the stairs. Claudia was asleep and Emily was lying on her bed. I asked her "Emily what story where you just reading to Claudia?" and she said with this puzzled look on her face "Mom I wasn't reading to Claudia!" Then I looked on Emily's dresser and saw that the baby moniter wasn't even on!!!!! Well let me tell you I was a little confused! So I told Emily to come downstairs, I thought she was pulling my leg Well sure enough someone was reading a story to a baby, but it wasn't in my house! My moniter had picked up someone elses moniter! Emily thought this was just cool! I asked her to go upstairs and turn the moniter to the other setting and talk into it. Well that seemed to work and I could hear Emily and Claudia in their bedroom! We have the Safety First baby moniter, my mom bought the moniter for us when Claudia was born. She got it at the Super Store (similar to a Walmart Super Centre)! Today I tried it again and heard nothing! That's just a little to weird for me!

mckayleesmom replied: You probably didn't hear anything today cause they weren't home..lol...Baby moniters pic up other baby moniters sometimes. My friend use to have one that would pick up phone conversations.

~CrazieMama~ replied: If you think about it, that is scary!!! There are just some thing I would rather not hear. Although it is neat and all, but scary. Did it have a warning or anything on the box about picking up other monitors? That is weird.

mummy2girls replied: itts wierd but if someone close to you has the same monitor as you it can pick it up. I had jenna at wiork one day with me and i had put her in the room for a nap. She started to cry so i used the monitor.... And all of a sudden i didnt hear jenna but theis little baby boy crying and a mom singing to him. I went into jennas room she was in and saw that the monitor wasnt even on. so i guess i was picking up someopne else close to us. I thought this was wierd so i called my mom and she could hear this in the back ground. thats how clear it was. To think someone could be picking up your conversations...freaky!!!!!!

MommyToAshley replied: That would have freaked me out when you went into the room and the monitor wasn't even on. I have heard other people in Ashley's monitor on occasion too... It's the AngelCare monitor that detects any kind of movement, even breathing. But, you can hear sound over it too.

jem0622 replied: This has happened to us. We live in townhouses. We hear each other's kids. We have three of us in a row with young ones and we all have monitors. From time to time things get out of whack, so I just turn off the monitor altogether.

CantWait replied: I have the Safety 1st moniter as well, and sometimes if I have each set on a different channel it does the same thing. Very odd. That's too funny though. But what a nice mom to be reading to her baby

kimberley replied: haha that used to happen to us all the time. we lived in a triplex with a lot of kids in the neighborhood and would always pick up other monitors and phones in the area but only if one of them was turned off. weird. we also got a lot of cross conversations on the phone because of using the same frequency on cordless it was entertaining at least lol

Kaitlin'smom replied: yep btdt I heard a few phone conversations, the fist time I heard something was a mans voice but I could not tell what he was saying, needless to say I ran into her room! I cnaged the channel on it and so far it had not happend again.....scared the cheese out of me!

ediep replied: Thats funny, I have the summer brand video monitor and sometimes I can see Jason but I hear my neighbor on the phone over the monitor.

My friend also has the same monitor and she told me once that she saw another baby on it. I guess her neighbor has the monitor and her unit was picking up her neigbors. She was very freaked out because she couldn't see her own baby!!!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I have had this happen as well. At one point there were three of us all in a row who had baby monitors. I have also picked up phone converstaions as well. It's pretty freaky when you think about it.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: OMG!! That is sooooo freaky. I would have been too freaked out and had to throw the thing away. LOL! I would have never thought about it being someone elses. I would have just thought it was possessed!


You know, reading all your posts makes me feel good that I live in a neighborhood with elderly people b/c OMG what I say on the phone! I didn't know those things picked up phone conversations!!

jen replied: That would so freak me out! I saw this movie on Lifetime, YOU HAVE got to see it now that this happened if you don't mind scary movies, it isn't real scary. It is called Baby Monitor: The sound of Fear. It is really freaky! It has Josie Bissonet in it. I have seen it twice. It comes on all the time. She is a nanny and she watches this cute kid and she is really good with him and she is having an affair with the Dad and is pregnant herself with his baby OK so it is is Lifetime! but anyway the mom pays these men to kill the Dad b/c she knows and the kid has a bad habit of changing the names on the mail boxes so the killers go to the wrong highrise apartment and the baby monitor has some interference and she hears the lady get killed, and keeps listening and realizes that they were really at the wrong apartment just minutes before they realize it! It is pretty good. The mom in the movie is awful!!!! I can't handle blood and guts or anything real scary, this was just about right at my scary movie threshold! HAAAAAAA! I am sure some of you have seen it!!! Who doesn't watch lifetime every now and then LOL!
