Fresh air or not......

kayla's mama wrote: With nice weather upon us I was curious as to how many open their windows to let fresh air in.

My IL's never opened their windows and they lived in that house for 15+ years.

Jason just doesn't understand why I love to have the windows open rolleyes.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: yep, love the windows and doors open... even turn on the attic fan if it's warm enough. Love that great fresh air!!! Come on spring!

mckayleesmom replied: I do

redchief replied: As often as possible.

Cece00 replied: I do!

We get VERY little spring/fall type weather here in Louisiana, its cold (like 30's) for maybe 3 months and then maybe a month of nice weather and then its HOT & HUMID.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I LOVE open windows!! Especially in the spring and fall. happy.gif That's one thing I don't like about our house - it's so shaded that it's always cold (except for in the middle of summer of course rolleyes.gif ) and when it's starting to get warm out and I want to open the windows it makes it too cold here so I have to shut them again. dry.gif

redchief replied: oooh.. yea, fresh air..... MMmmmmmm

Kaitlin'smom replied: oh ya when we can we do, its like airing out the house. I love it just cant sleep with them open sad.gif my parents dont open there windows not sure they can, they used to have bolts for 'security' reasons, personally I thoguth it was weird for a firefighter to have windows that dont open. plus to me there house seems stale, I know that have not been open for at least 25 years.

coasterqueen replied: Oh I wish I could. There was a time when I could, and then I developed adult allergies. Now if we have them open I pay for it dearly. sad.gif It's sad because I always grew up w/the windows open because we didn't have air in our upstairs bedrooms.

When I'm done nursing I'll start taking allergy meds and then maybe I can have the windows open.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: No doubt about it. If it hits 50 degrees, the heat goes off for a few hours and the ceiling fans and the windows get a workout.

gr33n3y3z replied: Oh I will open the slider and the other door and let the wind gush through the house even in the winter time
I love the smell of winter air

luvbug00 replied: can't we are allergic! LOL laugh.gif

MyLuvBugs replied: I've already ripped down the plastic insulation on our screen door and had it open every day for alittle bit. I LOVE the fresh air. And the smells of spring. smile.gif We even went for a long family walk the other day. It was so nice to get out.

MyLuvBugs replied:
Ya know. I'm totally allergic also, but I was told that opening the window's for an hour or so each day (mid afternoon or morning) is actually good for your allergies and sinuses. BUT that you shouldn't have the windows open at all at night, b/c that's when the allergens settle down in the air, and are more likely to float into your home. I'm not sure if that DR. knew what he was talking about. laugh.gif But I haven't really had a problem. smile.gif Just thought I'd share. Sorry. smile.gif

kayla's mama replied:

I did not know that. Hmmm. I always sleep with the window open....could be way I wake up sinusy...

coasterqueen replied:
Doesn't work for me. A few hours during the day of the windows open and I'm clogged up and miserable. Course I pretty much deal with that spring and summer if I got outside since I'm allergic to EVERYTHING outside. rolleyes.gif

ediep replied: I love to open the windows.....especially when I'm cooking because I don't like food smells in the house

giffmom replied: I have to wait a little longer because I am just a street away from the river and the temp has to be about 65 to have the windows open without getting sick because of the river. But I love late spring and early fall so that we can leave the windows open all day and through the night in certain rooms of the house.

MamaJAM replied: We do open the windows when possible. Though neither DH nor I can tollerate the heat much and we put the A/Cs in the windows earlier than most and start running them.

mom21kid2dogs replied: I love open windows!!! My MIL doesn't open hers, either~for them it's either heat or A/C~there is no middle ground!! rolleyes.gif

3xsthefun replied: I love to open up the windows. I can't wait until Rob puts our screen door back up so I can open up the front door.

jcc64 replied: One of the main reasons I bought this house was b/c it has 8 sets of double french doors (and it's not a big house, believe me). In the summer, it's like living in a screened in porch, and I LOVE it.
