TANNER'S MOM wrote: Oh man! I drive about 75 miles a day..

Gas is $2.54 here

What is it where you are?\

Something has to be done!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

mckayleesmom replied: I know it was 2.15 here on post the other day....but I haven't gotten gas since then...I will look today.

KingMom replied: I paid $2.49 Saturday, I only filled up 3/4 of my tank and it cost me $39!

I was very upset.

~Sarah~ replied: 2.71 here today, it is horrible, it makes me want to cry too, my DH travels about 60 miles a day!!!! bawling.gif growl.gif bawling.gif

mommytoconnor replied: Tanners mom,

I drive about the same... 75 miles a day. The highest I've seen gas in my town is $2.49. It's ridiculous. And I don't make that much. I pretty much only have money to pay for gas and preschool. If I quit then I wouldn't have to pay for either one. My ds could stay home with me. bawling.gif

Sarah, could you tell me where you made your little tag that says I love my family? smile.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I filled up at $2.54 Friday night. It cost me $41.00 ohmy.gif

booey2 replied: Well up here in Canada we have gone over the $1 mark for a litre of gas, you all at least are getting more for the money you are paying.

Jaime replied: Gas is around $2.54 here as well, its crazy i told DH we should just walk lol

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Yep-fuel is going to break the bank around here too!!!! Looks like we will be enjoying the inside of our little house for awhile! Thank God for a swing set and enuff toys to run a daycare center! emlaugh.gif It is anywhere from 2.50-2.70 a gallon for diesel around here! Unleaded starts at around 2.39.

But Mel~ Dh has a friend who just moved to California and it is $3.04 a gallon in Bakersfield! He doesn't know what to do! bawling.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: It's anywhere from $2.37 to $2.65 a gallon. I have definately started combining trips for things and thanking God we are a small enough family to fit in a compact car that gets 40mpg. It's insane!!

jcc64 replied: We pay $2.60 here in NY. I live 25 minutes from the closest supermarket. My son spends 45 minutes on a school bus each way, which of course is fueled by my taxes. My mom and I were just talking about this yesterday, and wondered why more people aren't freaking out about it.
Of course, I can't miss an opportunity to point out that the oil companies are posting record profits, and we all know about the very strong ties the current administration has with big oil. Here's a link on the subject:
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=1029991

The technology exists to produce more fuel efficient cars, it has for a long time, but why in the world would Washington put the interests of the public above its opportunity to make obscene amounts of cash?! I can't for the life of me understand why more people aren't irate about the intimate connection between the Bush administration, big oil, and the Saudis, and how it's totally screwing the rest of us.
I know some people get all squirmy and uncomfortable when politics arise here on the board but it's relevant to the topic. And I'm not trying to convert anyone. Just some food for thought.

coasterqueen replied:
Dh said the same thing to me last week when our gas prices went up to $2.54. It had gone up 20 cents within 2 weeks or something like that.

He was telling me about their record profits. mad.gif I told him if I was rich I'd quit my job and go lobby against them, but I'm not and even if I was rich I'm not billions rich and their money would lobby more than mine would. rolleyes.gif

This is one subject I'm not sure I know enough about to defend Bush or not. tongue.gif blush.gif

MissyKay2005 replied: 2.59 - 2.89 here in PA

redchief replied: 2.39 was the cheapest I saw for gas in southern NJ last weekend. I paid 2.41 Saturday.

Jamielou replied: I just got gas and it is 2.49 for reg. and 2.89 for supreme.

ITs outrageous when will this be over with sad.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: The cheapest lately is aobut 1.12 per litre - which comes out to:

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litres

so: 1.12$ x 3.7854118 = 4.24$ a gallon

4.24$ a gallon - so quit yer whining! rolling_smile.gif

Edited to add that 4.24$ canadian funds = 3.55$ US funds

booey2 replied:
Thanks for the conversion. I really didn't know how much more we were paying up here but knew it was a lot more than the United States.

My2Beauties replied: I paid $2.49 just yesterday, I put $20 worth in my car and got under 10 gallons - way under 10 gallons, barely put my car on the halfway mark mad.gif

Jeannie - taking the words right out of my mouth again wink.gif

I hate Bush - he is such a nimrod! mad.gif

ions_momma replied: It was $2.36 here the other day when I filled up. It is up to $2.59 now! It is way to expensive!!!

JessC replied: $2.51 here in Oregon.
My car is not bad on gas since i drive a neon, but i use to be able to fill it up $10 no prob. when the first day i got the car, well now, 10 bucks hardly gives me HALF! wacko.gif

I wish bush would do something about it.

coasterqueen replied: This is best for another thread probably, blush.gif , and like I stated above I don't know about the whole gas price subject and Bush enough to say much. BUT, you know me I'm a BUSH supporter so I must say something. tongue.gif

This really isn't something to do with democrats or republicans, this is just my experience in state politics in general. I personally don't think it would matter if the president was democratic or republican or whether someone else was in there that you like instead of who you dislike, Bush. Money rules the world and makes it go round. Democrats are just as much dirty politicians as Republicans and they see the $$ signs and believe me they aren't going to say "oh, ok, we'll fight this and make prices go down". Just ain't gonna happen, sorry. Someone MAY promise you this, but if you believe it then the wool is over your eyes and you are in the dark.

I think we should find alternative ways to fuel our cars. Here in central IL they have E-85 (Ethanol) offered through one gas station chain. Most times E-85 is 50 to 75 cents cheaper. The problem I've noticed as regular gas prices go up the E-85 price goes up and now the last I saw it was only about 20 to 30 cents cheaper. Now that's better than what we are paying for regular, but I often wonder why it keeps going up too. Not sure there.

Anyways, DH and I thought about buying a car that supports E-85 but some of the vehicles, mini vans, don't support E-85 and we really need a mini van. Also we've talked to several dealers who say that even though it says certain vehicles support E-85, extensive long term testing has not been done to see whether vehicles really hold up to this type of gas. ANd until they do I'm not spending $600 a month on a vehicle that could get damaged by this type of gas.

Ok, now I'm venturing here.. anyways I stick with my belief that it wouldn't matter who you have in office (rep, dem, Bush, not Bush) money is going to change their mind. As long as oil companies have BILLIONS to lobby it isn't going to matter.

AND like I've said a BAZILLION times now, it's not JUST Bush. It takes the legislature to vote on bills and they are a big part in why we let the oil companies rule us all. wink.gif

Then again I have to remind myself that every time I think of health insurance too. tongue.gif As long as big companies like this have the money, it won't matter WHO we vote for, they control the situation. UNLESS we get the President AND the legislature to fight this together.

Okay, I had to say this to all those out there that keep calling Bush a nimrod, or stupid or whatever. Please remember he isn't the only one that is in control of doing things....look at your legislators as well. wink.gif

akbutterfly83 replied: Here in Aanchorage, Alaska I have seen it anywhere from $2.30 to $2.49 as of lastnight....

I know it's like$3.26 or something like that in Nome.....

More North in Ak it's more.... in the villages it's like $4.78 to $5.70.....

This is all per gallon......

jdkjd replied: You can go to www.gasbuddy.com and enter your zip code to find the lowest price in your area. FYI

A&A'smommy replied: thank you Karen!!! I'm a bush supporter and I KNEW it wasn't JUST our presidents fault!

NummyMommy replied: You know we were having this discussion just the other day....fueled by a very frightening nightmare I had (no pun intended tongue.gif ) The problem isn't JUST any one thing true....but a big portion of it is our dependence on gas...they can raise the prices to whatever they want (as long as they do it slowly) because they know they have the USA by its....um...can't think of a polite term for it..... short hairs?!?! (sorry if thats offensive blush.gif ) We have long since become a very mobile economy....we can't survive as a nation unless we can move things around...so unless we can create alternatives that are affordable for the average joe we are stuck being the "richest" nation enslaved to the Oil Cartel. bawling.gif banghead.gif noooooo.gif

jcc64 replied: I am not delusional enough to believe that Democrats are any less susceptible to the intoxicating allure of big oil money than Republicans are.
However, never in recent history has there been an administration more relentlessly ANTI environment as this one. Even some Bush supporters on this board have copped to that. I can post a bazillion links to bolster this claim, but it's kind of a waste of time and energy. People who support Bush don't want to hear bad things about him, period. Even if his actions perpetually undermine their very economic and environmental well being.
So I'll shut up now.

b&bsmom replied: I agree gas prices are way out of hand. It has come to the point where I don't know how to afford it. It is about $2.54 here. I filled with $20 on Sat and it got me to a quarter and today ( monday) I am already on E. I am in the same boat. The nearest grocery is about 20 miles away and nothing is really around. I have to go at least 15min to get to stores and such. Don't know what we are going to do if things keep going this way. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Hey you! wink.gif I do not mind hearing bad things about Bush. Dh and I talk about our fair share of things we don't like about him. I don't think I'll every like ANY president 100%. No one is flawless in my eyes....well except myself. emlaugh.gif j/k.

I will admit I haven't researched/paid attention to much about the environmental issues as I should so I welcome the links. I also say that because of what my Dh just said when he asked what I was doing and I told him. I value your opinion!

I just think that Bush just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and if it was a different president in office now the same thing would be going on. The whole 9-11 events, the war, etc..the oil companies are going to take advantage no matter who's in office.

I could go on but I really want to see your side of this too. That's why I love talking about this stuff because I learn so much. ((HUGS))

I hope I didn't offend you with my earlier post. I think it read more harsh than I really intended it to be. wink.gif

edit to say that gas went up AGAIN tonight to $2.75. I'm really peev'ed off too. tongue.gif

Cary Lynn replied: Its $2.79 here. I am so ticked.
To think they sopend a Million to bring back the Space Shuttle, but do nothing about Gas prices.

My2Beauties replied: Um update - it's $2.69 here today, it was just $2.49 here yesterday - gimme a break how on earth can the gas prices rise 20 cents in one day mad.gif growl.gif Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......dang oil companies! growl.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Couldn't have said it better myself!

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Just filled up, actually, I couldn't make myself fill up the tank. I put in half a tank. Gas was up from 2.36 to 2.49 over the weekend. I know, fairly low prices, but I live in Idaho. Not too many people.

Gammy2 replied: We have a F-150 Super crew truck. We were filling up yesterday and the price was 2.61 / gallon. When my DH went in to pay they said good thing we stopped when we did because they were raising to 2.69/gallon BTW we live in Charleston, WV.

mad.gif GAS PRICES SUCK mad.gif

3xsthefun replied: We are in southern West Virginia, and the cheapest yesterday was $2.42. I'm sure alot of places around here around $2.53 or so.

jacobsmama replied: I also drive about 65 miles a day when I work bawling.gif Gas has went up here to 2.65 a gallon!!!! HELP bawling.gif

jcc64 replied: To say that Bush is anti-enviornment and THEN also blame him for rising fuel costs is a bit contradictory! Since the reason we are so dependant on foreign oil stems from the enviornmental lobby shutting down most of the drilling and refining in the good ol' USA in order to save things like the speckled yellow titted blue tufted tree owl in the remote wilderness of Alaska!(Ok so it isn't really called that but you get the point) I am in full agreement that we should NOT be handing outrageous money to Saudi Arabia Believe me it is costing an average of .50 cents A MILE to run an eighteen wheeler right now but as Karen stated eariler it is a legislative problem as well! What would you have Bush do? Take the oil from Iraq? You can't have it both ways-we are either going to be the country that trys to help them build a new democracy OR we can be the country that camps out and takes what we need BUT we can't be both![QUOTE]

I don't even know where to start with this one. First of all, how the establishment of democracy in Iraq got brought into the discussion of rising fuel prices eludes me. I could bring up the fact that we didn't initiate the war there to establish democracy, it was ostensibly because Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction, along with a manufactured connection between Iraq and the events of 9/11. Democracy was brought up as an afterthought. But I digress.
And I have but one thing to say about the unbelievable accusation that the environmentalists are to blame for rising oil costs. Only when the forests have all been cut down, the wildlife disregarded, and our water and air irrevocably polluted, will we realize that we can't eat money.
We are dependent on foreign oil because we use more oil than every other country in the world combined. We couldn't possibly produce enough oil domestically to satisfy our insatiable demand. Conservation is a dirty word with this administration. The idea that we should build more fuel efficient cars and invest in alternative energy sources to reduce our dependence on foreign oil will never be taken seriously because too many people in the administration have a personal stake in the oil industry. It's an undeniable fact.

DansMom replied: I totally agree with everything Jeanne said. I about lost my lunch last week when I was watching Fox news (have to keep up on the propaganda being fed to people), and a so-called "journalist" asked one of the shuttle astronauts if he thought foam keeps falling off the shuttles because of pressure from the environmentalists. He was like... HUH?... NO. I was like, THANK YOU Mr. Scientist. The demonizing of environmentalism by the corporate-owned media is transparently self-serving and, frankly, it's reached a level on Fox news that is absolutely disgusting. Self-respecting journalists would not work there.

Without environmental protections, this earth would be a smoldering husk. I, for one, will never stop fighting the corruption and greed of this administration, tooth and nail.
