Getting names wrong

I was at a mom's club function yesterday and I swear I kept calling one of the moms Holly when her name is really Heidi. I was also calling her daughter Libby when it's really Olivia and they call her Livvy. But I didn't realize the mistake until I got home. I thought it was strange that she didn't correct me, but that's just me. I would politely correct someone right away, whether I know them well or not. I'm just curious what you all do.
coasterqueen replied: Yep, I correct people.
BAC'sMom replied: Yes I correct people ALL the time.
msoulz replied: Me too. I don't correct people when they think Erin is a boy, though, because it's just too hard to tell without peeking in the diaper!
luvbug00 replied: I don't bother but mya will.
mckayleesmom replied: People call Mckaylee, McKayLA all the time and she will turn and say ...ITS MA-KAY-LEE....and prounounce each part just like that...cracks me up.
Also...People call me BriannA alot and Its Brianne...no a at the end.
moped replied: I usually correct people, unless it is someone I don't know and never will see again, hten i usually don't. My last name can get some funny proununciations.......I just laugh
Boo&BugsMom replied: Yes, I do. Not in a rude way though. I try to make no big deal of it and laugh about it, but I do correct people.
Boys r us replied: Oh definitely!! I am always correcting people on our last name..it rhymes with sellki and is pronounced sell-key but lots of people say it either selk-eye or sell-eek-ee ??!?!??!
Also people will take a quick glance at Braedon's name and call him brandon.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Nah, I do not bother correcting.
The three of us, Christopher, me (Nicole) and Kellie have easy names to pronounce and seldom are they screwed up-unless it is spelled incorrectly. Christian, on the other hand, gets her name pronounced wrong alot. I know people mean well, and that is fine. I know I do the same thing.
ions_momma replied: I dont usually bother with correcting people. it doesnt matter that much to me
My3LilMonkeys replied: We have very few problems with it, so I don't usually need to. But if someone is way off base (calling me, say , Maria or something ) then I will.
Cece00 replied: I cant remember ever having to correct someone....but if someone did say a name wrong, I'd politely correct them, right away.
Brias3 replied: I usually correct someone if they repeatedly do it but I feel funny about it usually. Don't know why. We run into plenty of people who don't remember Aliyah's name especially, or can't correctly pronounce it, and usually if it continues, I'll try and correct the person as politely as I can (unless Aliyah does it herself first )
zdk753 replied: I used too, but no one ever pronounces my first or last name right so now I don't. If it's close enough I'll answer to it. I have had people mispronounce Dylan's & Kailynn's name. When they do though they will correct them themselves.
redchief replied: I'm always forgetting names. I have namenesia. I also am relieved when someone corrects me. It's embarrassing to find out hours or days later that I've been calling someone inaccurately. I'd rather apologize sheepishly right away.
Nina J replied: I correct people. Just the other day someone called me Nora, I said "oh, no it's Nina".
People say Odessy instead of Odessa, they get embarrassed when I correct them. They were probably thinking I was nuts to name my kid Odessy...
I'm glad when people correct me
