Gnomeo & Juliet

coasterqueen wrote: Anyone's kids dying to see this movie? My kids won't stop talking about it. They've begged us to take them to see it Friday night for our family movie night. happy.gif

bluebear replied: You sure about going out Friday night for it? Good luck, the Justin Bieber movie comes out Friday. Get the tickets ahead of time!

my2monkeyboys replied: I think it's gonna be so cute! I would like to see it, too! biggrin.gif

luvbug00 replied: I want to see it. But we rarely go to the theater anymore. It's too expensive. sad.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I know! It costs us at least $75 every time we go. Fortunately we got $50 in movie money for Christmas and then I had a free admission ticket, so it will almost cover us to go. It was supposed to be for Ryan and I to have a date night, but with the way things go around here with Megan, we aren't having any of those. tongue.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
Yikes! We haven't gone to the movies much in the last few years because it's gotten too expensive, but I don't think it's that bad here! We did go to Toy Story 3 last summer, but the tiny little theater here in my parents town is super cheap plus we had two free tickets. tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied:
It's $28 ($8 per adult, and $6 per kid) to get into a theater here for 4 of us. Then we get at least $40 in crap to eat, if not more tongue.gif Soda, popcorn, candy, nachos, hot dog.......it's basically our dinner, snack, etc all in one when we go. blush.gif

luvbug00 replied: 8-13 per adult ( depending on where you view and if it is 3-d that price goes up)
6-8 per kid (again 3-d hikes that price)
plus drinks 5 bucks
snack 6-10 bucks
and popcorn 4-8 bucks.

yeeeaa no movies for us emlaugh.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Oh crap I forgot about the 3D price. Now I have to recalculate for Friday. tongue.gif Again, we only go to the movies maybe 4 times a year, if that, because of the cost. In this instance, we all need this as a moral booster. We've been stuck inside so much and Megan's health has really taken a toll on this entire family mentally and physically. Poor Kylie fears going to sleep at night because she worries about Megan sad.gif So I'll go into debt if I need to to go see this movie. laugh.gif tongue.gif blush.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: good grief!!

Our movie--right up the road from our house is $3.50 for adults (matinee) and $3.25 for kids. Non-matinee adult price is $5.25. We go all the time. cool.gif Other theatres in the area aren't so cheap, but McKinney has kept it a decent price. And, it's a nice theatre.

We want to see Gnomeo and Juliet, too. (and the Justin Beiber movie)....

Our Lil' Family replied:
Riiiiight....I'll bet Scotty is DYING to go to the Justin Bieber movie! lol wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Oh no, I'm avoiding the Beaver movie. I would have to make sure I'm so dog tired that I pass out in the theatre if i have to go see that. rolling_smile.gif

Does your theatre show 1st run movies as soon as they come out, or do they show them a week or two later after the movie comes out nationwide? I used to book movies for Kerasotes Theatres for the St. Louis and Chicago areas and our "first run" theatres got to show the movie when it came out nationwide, those ticket prices were always much higher than the "second run" theatres that didn't show the movie until a week or later after it came out nationwide. The second run theatres can charge less because they have a different pay scale that they pay to Disney, Universal, MGM, etc. Movie theatres don't make their money off of ticket sales. They make their profits off of the food/crap we buy. happy.gif

jcc64 replied: I don't think Corey wants me to accompany her to anymore tween movies. I took her to see the Hannah Montana movie last year--the "serious" one where her father dies of a terminal illness at the end--and the other mom and I laughed so hard and loud throughout what was supposed to be a tear-jerker that people were actually glaring at us. I almost peed in my pants from laughing so hard--I didn't know it was possible to cram every bad movie cliche into 90 minutes, but somehow they managed and we couldn't help ourselves. Corey was furious, so needless to say, we won't be going to Justin Beiber together.

luvbug00 replied: Jeanne just the, mental image of laughing at a death scene is hilarious. LOL!
No desire to see bieber from Mya. Thank god! She's moved on to bruno mars..lol

mom21kid2dogs replied: OK . . . @ $4 a ticket (and extra $1 for 3D) and $1 pop and popcorn at our local theatre I'm officially not complaining about not coming up with a better plan for Friday other than the JBmovie. Maybe Stephen & I can go see Gnomeo thumb.gif while O and her buds go to JB!!

msoulz replied:
I would have paid to see THAT!! rolling_smile.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: Me, too, Mary! I love it when you get so tickled at something that can't stop laughing, even when you know it's SO inappropriate to laugh!!! emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

We only have one 'dollar' theater around here, and now it's about $3 a person. But it's after the movie has left the main theater and right before you can get it of video, so we never really go.
The main theaters here are $8 adults, $6 kids, and the price goes up for IMAX/3-D movies.
Ron and I are planning on going to see a movie Sunday for V-day, but we also have a gift card that Will got for his b-day in Oct that we're going to use. LOL Yep, we're using his card. But if he decides to ever go see a movie we'll just pay for it then. biggrin.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
They're all new releases or "first run." thumb.gif it's a smaller and older theatre, but they keep it really clean. It just doesn't have stadium seating.

Naomi--I don't think Scotty really wants to see it and we probably won't get around to seeing it at the theatre, but Ethan is obsessed with Justin Beiber! LOL

MoonMama replied:
Aimee that's too funny cause Brae is obsessed with him too. rolling_smile.gif I don't get it. blink.gif emlaugh.gif
