Going to the movies

PrairieMom wrote: At what age do you start taking your toddler to see a real movie in a theater?
My friends at work were amazed that The Boy hadn't been to see a movie yet. Well, good grief! he's only just going to be 3! The thought of taking him to one really hadn't occured to me yet. I don't really know when I intended to start taking him.
How old were yours when you started going?

luvmykids replied: We've only tried once, Chicken Little and the twins were 3 and a half. The twins might have made it through but we also took Macie and had to leave early.

coasterqueen replied: Kylie saw one when she was 2 and she did pretty well. We just took her to one a couple of weeks ago and she did AWESOME. She's been to several movies in a theatre, only one with us. We've taken her to the drive-in numerous times though.

PrairieMom replied: We are thinking about taking him, but we both want to be there for his first experieance, and we have SO much going on right now! Curious George is playing at our discount theatre, I was thinking about trying that one!

ediep replied: we took jay to see curious george a few months ago and he only made it about halfway through

I may try again this summer

luvmykids replied:
Oh wow I didn't even know there were drive ins anywhere anymore! I miss that so much!

PrairieMom replied: There is one about 45 min from where I live, but I have never been to one.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: We took both kids to go see Ice Age a couple weeks ago. It was pretty fun but we made sure to get good seats where they could move a little w/o disrupting other people.

coasterqueen replied:
We used to go to them as kids all the time. There hasn't been a drive-in in our area for years but a couple of years ago they re-opened one. It's been great because we can take the kids, watch the first show as a family and then put the girls to sleep while DH and I watch the second show. OR if the 1st isn't a family show we'll put the girls to sleep for the 1st one and just watch the 1st show and go home. This is mainly our only way to go see a movie and not have to worry about a sitter.

siblingtoolivia replied: I took Olivia to see Pooh's Heffalump movie, think she was just about 3 and she recently went to Curious George, but she is a movie freak so she was great both times, I do know though that if it wasn't something she was into she wouldn't make it through........

DVFlyer replied: It could be any age, but be prepared to leave if they get fussy. I've seen people bring infants, toddlers etc. Some sit just fine, others get very unruly. As long as the parents take them out of the theater if they get fussy, I'm sure no one will mind. But that seems like a pretty expensive test considering the price of movies these days.

luvbug00 replied: Mya's first movie was nemo I think and that was in 2003 I think so she would have been 2 maybe 3.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Kait has been to a few, the sitter has taken to her to some around nape time and she would sleep through most of it. DH and I tried with Shark Tails that was a bust, I took her to see Couris George and she did great. She is 3 now.

Brias3 replied: We've taken the kids since they were fairly young. Mason has been going to movies with us when we take the older two since he was shy of two and he's always done really well. He's probably been to a dozen or so movies in the theater now and really is very intrigued and patient when we're there.
