Good Diet - I need one

ashade75 wrote: Does anyone have a good diet that worked for them. I put on an extra 10lbs over the winter YIKES!

I did the no carb diet a few years back and it worked. But as soon as I stopped i gained it all back. I would like to lose between 15-25lbs.

Any suggestions?

maliksmommy replied: I am all ears too. I would like to lose about the same amount as you. I just like food way too much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mommieto2Girls replied: I went to the doc and was prescribed fastin ( a appitite suppresent ) I have lost like 30 lbs in 1 month so far. I used to eat all the time , now I eat because I have to but I only eat a piece of fruit and a salad a day. I also exercise everyday. Maybe you could talk to your doc and see about all the different things they can prescribe. I have to change my lifestyle of eating and this is helping me do it.
Good Luck smile.gif

booey2 replied: biggrin.gif Hey, now your talking my kinda life. I am currently on Weight Wachers (if you didn't know already) and love love it. I can't say enough about how well the program works for me, even with my hypothyroidism. As of today I have lost 45.8 pounds (since June 2002) and couldn't be happier. This program requires a lot of eating changing and lifestyle changes ( just eating and eating the right foods) Nothing is considered not on program. If anyone wants more info I created a word document based on their Getting Started book and I could share it. Just let me know. Hope this helps. thumb.gif

I have heard a lot of great things about Weight watchers also, I would like a copy of that if you wouldn't mind:)

Kaitlin'smom replied: me to!

oh and I am BF so I dont know how different that is with WW

ashade75 replied:
Me too. I'd like to try it.

booey2 replied: wink.gif To all those who have asked and those who want it please email me with Parenting Club in the subject and I will send off the info in the morning as I have left the discs at home with the info. Also if you need the points guide for nursing moms let me know in the email because I have to add the info the disc. Glad to be of help.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Also I have a couple web sites with free WW recipies if anyone is interested...let me know, I can send you an email!

Schnoogly replied: I did ediets for about a year and lost 40lbs. It was great because you could customize it to the kind of diet you wanted and it gave recipes based on your caloric intake. It cost a lot less then though!! (and doesn't support nursing anymore)

Is this dangerous? It sounds perfect for me... but I have a couple questions, and I sure hope I don,t offend you.... happy.gif

1) I love eating. I don't think I could eat only fruit and salad during the day. Can't you eat anything else?

2) Don't you feel anorexic? I had an eating disorder when I was younger, and I would eat an apple a day, sectionned off into breakfast lunch, and dinner. I don,t think I could handle just one fruit and a salad in the day...

3) Do you get tempted with other food? Are people around you sensitive that yoU,re on a diet?

4) Is fastin only prescribed, or could you get it somewhere else?

5) Is it safe for breastfeeding?

I really hope I don,t offend you with my questions, I'm just curious, because it sounds like a good way to lose a lot of weight quick...for after the baby of course! smile.gif

Mommieto2Girls replied:
Here is what I am told about it.It is a very , very low carb and low fat diet. Fastin can only be prescribed by a doctor. It's for people that need to lose 100 lbs or so. You can eat any melon , berries, apples, all greens, lean chicken or fish.
You can't eat no bananas, oranges, carrots, nothing else with carbs in it.
The pills make it where your not hungry and lasts for like 12-14 hours after taking it. The only major problem is when I have to make dinner for hubby because it's so late when he gets home and thats when I get hungry. I think that is the hardest part of my day.
You can only stay on the pills for 8weeks and thats it.I would think it wouldn't be safe if your brestfeeding, you have to eat more than usual while breastfeeding.
I have never exercised before and now I am. I am already starting to feel better about myself. They told me that when I lose the weight I can go back to eating normal , but I guess you stomach shrinks after so long that I wouldn't be able to put as much food as I could before.
If you would like to know anything else let me know .
Oh by the way hubby is not sensitive at all . He keeps offering me food, and wonders why I get cranky with him. I think no matter what diet your on it's still a battle to get away from the food, it's just a matter of will power.

MommyToAshley replied: I am trying to be good too and DH bought me chocolates. It was a nice thought, but too tempting!!! LOL

kit_kats_mom replied:
with WW you just add 10 points to your minimum points.
I'm doing WW and here's my example:
32-37 points a day for my current weight "185"
normal 185 lb'ders get 22-27 points.
It's really LOTS of food. I've lost 28 lbs now. DD is 8 months old and I only have 11 lbs till my goal.
I set my goal at the highest for my height so that I can make lifetime member and not pay anymore. I actually plan to lose about 22 more. thumb.gif

totally easy program...highly reccomend

mummyof2boyz replied:

How long have you been on the plan?
Just wondering?
And How much if at all do you excersis?

kit_kats_mom replied:
I've been doing ww for 22 weeks (I lost alot some weeks and gained some) and the only exercise I get is what I get staying at home with my 8 month old. I HATE working out...even walking. I would definatly have better results if I did any exercise, even walking.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Thanks MoMMy2Madison!

My mom is on a similar diet...the Dr. Bernstein diet. Instead of the pills, it's shots of Vitamin B6 and B12, 3 times a week. It's also VERY expensive. It lasts 8 weeks, cost my mom a little over 300$.

Mommieto2Girls replied:

WOW thats alot. I spent $27.50 for 1 month supply, but it usually cost $50 something a month. I complained to the pharmacy techs and they lowered the cost and gave me senior discount.
Today they told me I can have total cereal now with skim milk, boy was that great cereal this morning. biggrin.gif
Last night I felt like crap. After I ate this morning I feel great though. I ran out of fruit so no fruit today, only salad. Thats ok though. smile.gif
