Good house plant
Halo42101 wrote: Hi, everyone. I was just wondering what a good house plant would be. My mother-in-law suggested a spider plant but I want a plant that brings forth flowers and that is easy to take care of. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

kayla's mama replied: I have a hard time keeping plants alive but I have found one that I can't kill....a peace lilly. To me they are a very pretty indoor house plant and hard to kill
kimberley replied: me too lol
mckayleesmom replied: I even killed a cactus
kayla's mama replied:
Now thats bad
~Roo'sMama~ replied: My mom has a couple hibiscus plants in her house. They have nice big flowers. I think they only bloom a couple times a year though, and it might take a year or two for them to start flowering. That's the only one I can think of.
PrairieMom replied: spider plants do flower, but they are small and white and don't do it all the time. what about one of those planted bulbs like tulips or maybe a potted hydrangea?
kimberley replied: omg Bri, i have to take the camera to work and show you the bosses cactus we killed it is impotent!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I've killed several cactuses. Plants are banned from my house.
Crystalina replied: The best house plant are the silk ones. You just can't kill them and if the kids knock them over then just pick them up. There are some really nice ones that look real. They don't cleanse the air like a real one does but if your just looking for looks they are great.
I'll tell you what not to get... a fern, those things are so tempormental.
my2monkeyboys replied: I'd go with a peace lily first. Then if you can keep it alive and healthy (and you have a sunny enough spot) maybe try african violets. Peace lily - water freely. African violet - water only when dry and do not wet the leaves... water from the bottom. Those are 2 of the most common houseplants that flower regularly. Hope this helps!
Brias3 replied: I've always had alot of luck with African violets. I also really like to get lilies at the grocery store and have them in vases. Of course, its not a house plant you keep persay, but for decoration and some livening up, they do last quite a bit- usually around 2 weeks for me if I put the plant food packs they come with in the water.
MommyToAshley replied: I think I have you beat. I even killed a FAKE plant. I was cleaning house one winter and moved it right on top of the furnace vent while I was vaccuuming the rest of the room. I forgot about it and went to work. WHen I came home, all the leaves had fallen off from the heat.
I love house plants, but needless to say, I don't have any.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I forgot about African violets. They're pretty. My mom had those too. (she had a regular jungle in our house, lol) Hers usually lasted a couple years at least though.
Bee_Kay replied: I've killed off cactus' also..... and I cannot keep an African violet alive for nothing.
I do have this one plant, but I don't know the name (VERY common).. It's like an ivy type thing.. almost impossible to kill off.
Halo42101 replied: Oh, your suggestions are always so helpful and I appreciate it very much. I really like the idea of having a peace lilly. I was thinking of getting a plant to keep in memory of our baby. I also like the idea of having an African Violet but I think I would do better with a peace lilly. Thank you all again for your suggestions.
