Gosh help me if I have another girl!
coasterqueen wrote: I know I have a lot of time left to pick names out but since I think we'll probably have another girl, lol, Dh and I have been focusing on girls names. Plus we have a harder time picking girls names anyways.
Every friggin' name I have thrown his way he has something picky to say about it. Grrrrrr. Today I emailed him asking if he liked Skylar. He said no because people would call her sky and that sounds hippieish.
Gosh help us if we do have another girl!
KatieLeigh79 replied: If we had a girl I was going to do Skylar Paige and DH said something similar but his thing was he didn't want it to be pronounced wrong, he didn't mind the shortening of it to Sky for a nick name, then he comes in and tells me he read somewhere its more common for a boys name... I know your pain *lol* In fact I think if we have any more I will just start numbering them 1 - 2 etc
mummy2girls replied: I love the name skylar for a girl. but thats because jennas cousin is named skylar... Her full name is Skylar- Dalyn Chase... And yes i call her sky all the time:)
Lollie replied: I love the name Skylar.
Hubby and I have also been throwing names around and we cant seem to settle on anything that we both like!!! Hubby is more concerned about finding names for boys....hehehehehe....
momof2girls replied: When we found out the 2nd was a girl we could not decide on a name. I had one for a boy that we agreed on.
so what we did was put about 7 names in a bowl and came up with Kiley, but then we asked my older daughter what name she wanted her baby sister to have, and she said Kiley, so Kiley it is!!!
Azaria wanted me to name her Raven off of a Disney show she loves. lol
amynicole21 replied: We're having the same problem, but with BOYS names! DH hates everything I have suggested, which hasn't been much yet I have several girls names that I love, but I can't think of anything for a boy! Aaargh!
mama3x replied: You know, the easiest child to name was DS...of course that was a diff DH (one with no real care or opinion). I was stuck between Dylan and Brandon THEN Beverly Hills 90210 came out so I nixed those. Brennan was on the list so I combined it with Brandon to make Brenden. Of course it's a kind of common name now so AUGH!
With DD and my current DH, he hated everything I liked and vice-versa. I hate to say this but if she had been born to natural labor at my due date, she may have come home nameless with us still arguing. It didn't help that I couldn't come up with a girl's name, I was stuck on boys!
As with this one...well...no comment! LOL
Karen - I know what you mean. And for the record, I love the name Skylar, I used to take care of a little girl that spelled it Schuyler. I guess 'cause of the spelling no one called her "Sky".
Good luck!
p.s. shall we send boy vibes your way?
jolene555 replied: i'm not sure how anyone can name their baby without seeing them first. i know that of all of the 12 names i had on a list when i walked into that hospital, only one fit that little girl. then just this week barry tells me that he didn't really care for the name, just agreed to it because he didn't want me to start crying. men!!!
anyhow.
just start writing skylar on everything and figure out a way for him to like it. i did research before i presented a name. find the meaning, the attributes, origons, ect. something will sell him. how else could i have gotten her middle bernadette???
Kirstenmumof3 replied: DH and I have never had problems picking out names for our babies. And surprisingly we have always agreed on the names. Emily Margarat (our first DD) was named after DH's grandmother and aunt. Spencer Kimball (our DS) we found his name on the internet and we both just loved it. Plus Kimball is the name of the Harrison Ford character in the fugitive Dr. Richard Kimball (I love Harrison Ford). Claudia Jordan (CJ) is named because of the female press secratary on the tv show the West Wing. We found out that the initials stood for Claudia Jean. I didn't care much for Jean and named her after my brother. If she had been a boy she would have been Mackenzie Mark, not sure where Mackenzie came from but Mark is after my DH. Good Luck with the names, maybe you could go online and look through one of the baby name sites. I know Parents Place has one.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Sending BOY vibes! LOL! J/K!
Really, good luck with names. DH and I pretty much have the same taste in names. We chose both of ours very early on before our kids were even thought of. We made it easy and just kept the names we had agreed on so long ago. We had Madeleine Estelle for a girl and Ethan Scott for a boy. Over the years we got so used to those that we just knew it would be Maddie and Ethan in our house. I couldn't imagine it being any different.
MommyToAshley replied: We had a hard enough time agreeing on a name for Ashley... I couldn't imagine trying to name another little girl. LOL!
Jamison'smama replied: I feel your pain--thank goodness we aren't having a girl. One thing you can do is decide on whatever shortened name you would like and give it to her before anyone else does.
What else could you call Skylar though...hmmm it has kyl in it....
Josie83 replied: The names debate is such a headache! It took jason and I a while to come up with Cassie! A lot of the names I liked he really didn't as well! But look on the bright side, you have a long while to choose it. Maybe look in a baby name book or on websites? Good luck with finding one, let us know how you go! xx
Elle replied: I love Skylar! Better sp. Skyler, though I didn't have such a hard time agreeing on names, only with Alexis' mn, it was hard to convince him! (i didn't really CONVINCE him, he just felt sorry for me because I was in labor and I got my way )
MomToMany replied: Oh, I know the feeling! Try naming 5 kiddos! It's hard choosing a name that sounds right, goes with the last name, and won't get them picked on!
Good luck! I hope you can agree on something soon!
