jcc64 replied: Why is everyone so aggravated by it? Some guy came to my door and handed me the envelope, which i tossed on the kitchen counter with everything else, but haven't gotten around to looking at it yet. What's the big deal--is it really long or something?

msoulz replied: What bugs me is that I see no purpose for announcing the arrival of the census. It seems a huge waste of money to send letters to people who will probably toss them on the counter with everything else! Why not wait until the actual census arrives and let that be piled up with the bills instead of that plus the "THE CENSUS IS COMING" letter??

That's my beef.

What's the big deal? Really? Um, how did they pay for such senseless actions? Our tax payer dollars. This is what is ridiculous. Stop spending money frivolously and be smart. Isn't that what we all do. Would YOU have wasted money that way?

PrairieMom replied: yup, just seems like a complete waste of resources, time and $. Like it is a surprise to anyone that this is a census year? they have only been talking about it for for ever, and really , if you haven't heard about it yet, its a pretty good clue when your census comes in the mail.

mom21kid2dogs replied: I remember getting a similar letter a couple of years ago when we got our tax "rebate" checks. It reminded me of sending a note to someone saying "I'm going to send your birthday card next week" In fact, I think we got two or three letters for that one.

Jeanne~It sounds like someone gave you your actual census form. This was a form letter informing that you'll be getting a census form.

BAC'sMom replied: Well dang I thought I was special! Now I'm hurt that all of you got one too. If you think the letter is bad you would really throw a fit to see that on all our school campuses marquees there is a reminder to fill out and send back in.

Seriously, you would have to be living in a cave to not know the census is coming.

Huge waste of $$.
