~Roo'sMama~ wrote: I had my glucose tolerance test thingy today, and my blood sugar was 139 - just a little bit over their cut off of 135. So lucky me, I get to go back next week for the 3 hour test. Whoopie! Lol can you tell I'm not very thrilled. I was half afraid this would happen... I have a life long fear of getting diabetes - when I was a kid my dad would sit there and watch me shovel spoonfulls of sugar onto my cheerios every morning and tell me that some day I was going to end up with diabetes someday if I didn't watch it. And I haven't exactly been carefull about not eating too much sugar in the last few months - I guess all that ice cream is coming back to haunt me. My doctor doesn't think that I'll end up having it since I'm barely over the limit - she said some clinics cut off limit is 140 so then I would have been under. But I'm kind of nervous about it anyways so I could really use some P&PT's next thursday!
MomToMany replied: So sorry it came back like that. I hate those tests! Good luck, and I hope your next test is normal.
chloe&tysmommy replied: awww that sucks!!! I hated drinking that stuff and waiting.....I hope it goes well for you this time!!! Make sure to take a book or something with you so you don't get too board.
A&A'smommy replied: UGH that sucks!!!! I hope you don't have it and I'm sending LOTS and LOTS of P&PT'S
Hillbilly Housewife replied: lol
I actually don't mind the orange stuff.... lol
But that sucks.... I hope it's just temporary....
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol yeah it wasn't all that bad - mine was fruit punch though. It was kinda good at first but it got pretty sickening by the time I was down to the end of the botle. And I think I remember my dr. saying that you have to drink a bigger bottle of it for the 3 hour test than for the 1 hour one. I guess we'll see...
mummy2girls replied: dont worry yet... My friend failed the first test but passed the 3 hour one... so dont worry yet....
iluvmysweetiepies replied: Sorry about that!! I hope everythings goes well next week! P&PT's coming your way
Mandasmomma replied: I'm surprised they are sending you back for the 3 hour...it really isn't high. (I'm a nurse...)
Anyway - just so you know, watch what you eat the night before - no ICECREAM!! That can be what throws you off.
Good luck!!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I've never had to go back for the 3 hour test. But I sympathise, I absolutely hated the 1 hour test. I hope it all goes well for you!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Thanks that's good to know.. I have no idea what *normal* is. I'll be very good about what I eat wednesday night, believe me! I do NOT want this one to be high!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: The test today wasn't so bad because they let me drink the stuff at home, so I just went in and they poked my finger and then it was done. I don't know what I'm going to do for 3 hours there. I'll bring a book but still.
coasterqueen replied: Bummer Sara! Positive thoughts coming your way. I bet you will pass the other one with flying colors.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: my #'s were about where your are, then passed th 3 hour The 3 hour drink was much better, you have to drink it pretty fast but it tasted like sprite so not nearly as bad as the orange stuff. I had a book and brought my lap top so I kept busy (and it was a great break from the 1 year old at home ) Good Luck
rocknroll mom replied: Hi Sara!! Sorry for the late reply...have been away for a few days. I hope all goes well Thursday for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I had my test last Mon. & I am anemic, so now I am on an iron supplement & a stool softener (woo-hoo)
My sis-in-law had to go back for the 3 hr test but it turned out fine. Don't worry

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Thanks. What was your hemoglobin? My dr. said mine was kind of low, but she just told me to make sure I'm remembering to take my prenatal so I must not be quite anemic. I think mine was 10 or 11 point something. I was just wondering.
