Grrr
Boys r us wrote: I just got an email from paypal that someone has been trying to access my paypal account from a foreign IP...So I have the IP is there a way for me to look it up and see who the ip belongs to or at least what area of the country it is from?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm not sure. I don't know that much about IPs maybe Dee Dee or Rodney will know.
ETA: Glad they caught them.
Boys r us replied: yeah I was hoping..I know there is a way!
kimberley replied: hmm i don't think that info is accessible to the public. i know police stations and such have access tho. what about filing a report with them and let them get the info
Kaitlin'smom replied: what did paypal want you to do?
my DH is worried that this email is fishing for info.....
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I didn't think of that!! That is true! Are you sure this is from paypal?
MomToMany replied: I get those all the time too. I just delete them.
Boys r us replied: The email addy it came from was service@paypal.com
I filed a report with them. But the email didn't ask for any specific info.
Kaitlin'smom replied: did you just hit reply or actually go to there web site and file that way?
as long as you did not give them any information ie user name, password ect you should be okay
My2Beauties replied: Yeah I was going to say don't reply directly to the email! Go to their website, see if there is a customer service #? This could be a scam in itself!
Boys r us replied: I went to paypal's website and filed a claim yesterday, they emailed me this morning and told me that this original email had NOT come from them and that they are investigating it fully. I didn't give any info at all, so I'm fine. Rick says usually when people send emails like that with a link in it, that when you click on the link it infects your computer..but I'm at work, so I don't give a rip really!
texasp3 replied: I got one of those recently from Washington Mutual, well, not from them at all, of course. They were converting their databases and I was supposed to click on a link to go to a website where I could confirm my account information was correct.
Well... since I don't bank with WAMU, I knew it was bogus. Plus I would NEVER give bank account information to anyone, not even my own bank, not over the internet.
Some of those emails look so very authentic. Phishing scares me in general. I try to be careful, but I'm always worried I'm going to fall for something some day.
Glad you got the PayPal one figured out.
Kaitlin'smom replied: glad you did not pass on any info, and that all will be well
