Guess who has Thrush?
PrairieMom wrote: Well, It was bound to happen. Miss Alexis has thrush. I've got a call in to her Ped now. I get Thrush and yeast really easy so I am on Difflucan anyway, so I guess I am a little supprised that she got it since it passes through in the milk. I have some old gentian violet from when The Boy had thrush, but it's 3 years old now. There is no exp. date on the bottle, anyone know if the stuff expires? I REALLY don't want to use it. The thought of staining her super cute clothes purple makes me want to
coasterqueen replied: Well GV does have a tiny bit of alcohol in it.....so I would hesitate. Not really sure though. What makes you think she has it, what are her symptoms? And even though you are on diflucan for yeast she needs to be treated simultaneously with you in order for her not to get it.
BAC'sMom replied: Sorry to hear that Tara.
coasterqueen replied: btw, forgot to offer you . Sorry to be so rude above in my previous post, but only asking questions. The yeasty beast is horrible, I know.
PrairieMom replied: she's got the spots in her mouth. She actually has been spitting up a lot more today, but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it. Since I get thrush ALL THE TIME and I do mean ALL THE TIME like 2 times a month, I know what it looks like. My BB aren't itchy tho. They were last week, but not now. When The Boy got thrush my BBS were super itchy the week after I discovered the spots.
PrairieMom replied: I didn't think you were being rude. I hate yeast. I have been basically waiting for her to get it since day one. i guess I should be happy it didn't happen for 2 months!
coasterqueen replied: If you get yeast that much IMO I would have put her on baby acidophilus from day one to help keep it away. It's not too late to do that now. She will need to be on something continuously and acido is a perfect thing for that. But she will still need to be treated for the thrush she has. Acido won't rid of thrush, just keep it away once it's gone.
PrairieMom replied: Probiotics have never worked for me, but they might for her. Where do I get baby acidophilus?
JP&KJMOM replied: I am so sorry. Got to be miserable.
coasterqueen replied: Any health food store. Just put it on your finger and let her suck it off, that's the best way to give it to her. Or put it in a bottle of ebm.
PrairieMom replied: Is there special "baby" kind or do I just give her a little of an adult kind? The stuff I took always came in capsules.
A&A'smommy replied: awww I'm sorry poor thing I hope it clears up quickly!!!
coasterqueen replied: Yes, they do have a baby formula. IMO if you are going to give it to her regularly I'd buy the baby one. If not, then just breaking a capsule into 3rd and giving it to her 3x a day would work. But I'd call the health food store and double check that dosage. I'm not sure I did it for Kylie or Megan that young (using the adult capsule that is). I have given the baby formula that young, but I was dumb and didn't think I'd ever get thrush again and gave it to a friend. Boy, was I wrong.
PrairieMom replied: Thanks Karen. I will have to look into it! I'll try about anything. The thought of Fungus growing in my poor baby's mouth...
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm sorry Tara! I hate thrush. I hope you can get rid of it quickly!!
PrairieMom replied: I spent the evening digging out old blankets from The Boy, and old ugly jammies and outfits for the girl tonight. Its official, she's purple. (and so am I) She has been spitting up so much today that I changed out her pack and play bedding to old stuff so her pretty stuff wouldn't get ruined, and I will be using old recieving blankets instead of cloth diapers for burp rags. i just hope none of her spit up hits the floor.

MyLuvBugs replied: Oh gosh!! I'm so sorry. I don't have any suggestions, just I hope she feels better soon!!
ZandersMama replied: The poor little thing, I remember when Zan had it he was miserable. for mommy and baby, hope it passes quick!
PrairieMom replied: Apparently thrush while BF is a LOT messier than Thrush wile bottle feeding! This is what I woke up to after a night of BF!
MommyToAshley replied: I'm sorry to hear she has thrush, but OMG, that is the cutest picture ever! It doesn't look like the thrush is bother her... look at that smile!!!!
I've never had thrush, but I've hear it is horrible. Hope both of you are feeling better soon.
PrairieMom replied: My Patients have told me that its just horrible, but I get it all the time, and it doesn't bother me a bit. I hope she takes after me in that respect!
