Gut instinct

Nina J wrote: Do you believe in gut instincts??

I think we get worried, twisty feelings sometimes for a reason because we just have instincts. Like, don't do this or that. Hopefully everyone KWIM happy.gif

luvbug00 replied: I am a firm believer in following your gut. I also follow "signs"' niether have been wrong when i actually listen to them.

lisar replied: Yes I do believe in my gut instict. If I get a bad feeling in my gut then I know something bad has happened. I always call and check on the kids if they arent with me.

cameragirl21 replied: when i was flying back from LA to Miami (as an adult, this was a few years ago) we stopped in Vegas, so we flew from LA to Vegas and from Vegas to Miami. This was a night flight, a Red Eye. anyway, when we boarded the plane in Vegas, i was sitting right in the emergency exit row and watched the flight attendant close the door and i had a feeling something wasn't right, that we wouldn't leave the plane the way we were supposed to. also, i promised i'd call my mom when we land in Miami because she always wants me to let her know i've landed ok when i fly but she had said to get my luggage first, etc and not to rush into calling her. anyway, the plane takes off from Vegas and suddenly there's an awful smell permeating the air...we had to make an emergency landing. then we waited forever in the middle of the night in Vegas to get on a new plane.
anyway, when we landed in Miami i went to call my mom and as soon as she picked up the phone the first words out of her mouth were, "what happened, are you ok?!"
turns out that at the exact time we turned the plane around in Vegas, she woke up feeling something was wrong and couldn't get back to sleep for a few hours...at which time they put us on another plane.... wink.gif
my mom and I are both very psychic so yes, i am a firm believer in gut instincts, they've saved me more than once. happy.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: I didnt used to, but ever since I had kids, I found I do trust my gut more and more

jcc64 replied: I absolutely believe in gut instincts. I rely on mine, heavily.

amymom replied: I totally believe that we have instincts. I make many decisions based on my gut reaction to it.

I also think that a different thing is when we get feelings of forboding like Jennifer referred to in her reply. I wish I could master what those feelings are and what they are trying to "say". I can almost always Monday morning quarterback it.... like Oh that is why "I thought you should not have done ABC". Or "That is why I woke up in the middle of the night" Sometimes I even give voice to those feelings but don't realize that I am predicting something until after it happens. A simple example of this would be: I once was listening to a very dynamic speaker. I saw a friend and I was telling him about this speaker and in the course of our conversation I said: "I wonder what they would do if he ever got Laryngitis." The following week, my friend was at an event this speaker was speaking at and guess what he had laryngitis. This type of thing happens more times than I can count. I wish I knew a way to use it.

luvmykids replied: I definitely rely on my gut instincts....took me a while to pay attention to them but I learned the hard way not to ignore them. Sometimes it's something so small that people think I'm nuts but they've also tried to chime in on bigger things and when I ignore them I always regret it.

Calimama replied: I rely on mine very much, so I definitely believe. wink.gif

cameragirl21 replied:
i could tell you how to use it, AM, but as a Catholic, i don't think you'll like it. wink.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Yes I totally do!!! I believe subconsciously that we KNOW things that we don't really KNOW... lol I don't know if that makes sense or not but i KNOW what I'm talking about lo tongue.gif

msoulz replied:
ITA with that. Our minds work way more than we know, IMHO, and there are things milling around that add to those gut feelings without us being aware of it. Maybe it's past experience or something we just saw but didn't pay too much attention to, our mind has it in there. It is hard to explain but that is what I think contributes to gut feelings, a lot of subconscious stuff.

amymom replied:
Ok Curiosity is going to get the best of me ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: yes very much so
next time I will listen much sooner tho
