HELP!! - I have an 11 week old teething...

devinsmommy wrote: Ok...I need some help... Devins is only 11 weeks and teething!!! HELP me what can I do to ease his pain? How long does this last? I tried a teething ring he HATES it. At first I just thought he was sick, but once I really looked at the signs he is teething. I am just about to go crazy... if it is not one thing with my son it is another... first month reflux, second month diagnosed with SEVERE reflux, and going into the 3rd month teething this is enough to where I don't want more kids... I really hate seeing my son in SO much pain..... bawling.gif

kimberley replied: Try putting one of his little wash cloths in the freezer and letting him chew on it. you could also try massaging his gums and if all else fails and he is really suffering, you can give him motrin. hope he is better soon grouphug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: both of those things are unfortuantly pretty common BUT more than likely if you have another baby it wont have reflux. Teething begin at ANY time though and is VERY difficult BUT we get through it Alyssa is 14 almost 15 months old and she has four molars and working on some more poor thing those suck even more!

Also you could try hyland teething tablets!

MichaelsMommy replied: I had the same problem - it's terrible I know. They can't hold a teether
which is what they really need, its not the same if we hold it for them
it's almost like being forced on them and prob not hitting the right spots.
Michael got his first tooth right at 3mos - he now has 2

He would take to a wet/cold baby wash cloth a little bit, I encouraged him
to bring his hand to his mouth a bit - once he did that it was a little better -
but when it really got bad infant tylenol (only had to do it 2 or 3 times total)
and I used baby orajel once.

I had twins my first go round (they're 11 now) but one of them was an
early teether and the other was not... So I think it's hit or miss if your
next child will be early.

Good luck and hang in there it does get better I swear.

texasp3 replied: Gabriel started teething at 12 weeks... and hasn't stopped!! It takes him 3 months to cut a tooth. I complained to my Mom once and asked "what kid takes THREE MONTHS to cut a tooth?" and she replied "You did." dry.gif With my brother, on the other hand, everytime she looked in his mouth - surprise! two more teeth, and never any trouble.

Anyway, the cold washcloth trick usually helps... anything they can chew on .. Gabriel would chew on my shirt cuffs, on the nylon strap of his diaper bag... basically anything thin enough to easily get in his mouth (NOT those big fat teethers) and was slightly rough seemed to feel very good. He would put his head on my shoulder and just gnaw on the shoulder seams of my shirt. Be careful about actually freezing things for a long time and then giving them right to him... they can actually hurt themselves if it's too cold... best to go with very cold, but not frozen.

Gabriel also has reflux, by the way... and not to upset you... but teething makes reflux worse temporarily. The excess saliva that is produced makes their little tummies that much more volcanic. sad.gif

The one thing that I hang my hat on, that I SWEAR still makes the most difference, is Hyland's Teething Tablets. It's a homeopathic teething aid that I can get at almost any of my local grocery stores.

I don't know why teething has to be so hard for some babies. I always tell DH it's a design flaw I intend to discuss with the maker someday! wink.gif Hang in there, eventually the teeth will be in... at least that's what I'm still telling myself!! biggrin.gif

hotmommy818 replied: Hey! My son began teething at three months. Teething rings did very little for me too. Wet a washcloth and stick it in the freezer for just a little bit. See if that helps. Probably the best thing for my son was his exersaucer. He chews on those toys and seems to get some relief. But sometimes, he just needs some tylenol and orajel.

SweetEmmaGirls Mom replied: Oh I feel for you! I was beginning to think I was the only one with an early teething child till I found this site! My little girl has been very gassy/colic since the end of her 2nd month then went right into teething. Getting her 1st tooth in her 3rd month. She is 4 1/2 months now and has 3. They don't quite understand how to put things into there mouths and chew. I let her chew on her bibs. Sometimes tho crying is the only thing they can do. We do have some teethers, they are very thin and we put them in the fridge only. She is tho beginning to hold them herself! We do give her Tylonol, oragel and we do have some teething tablets. I don't think they help her that much. I think truly the only thing that can help is them getting older. But as far as our sanity, Do you have help? I usually get my husband to take her for a while and I go outside to sit. Things will get better. Thanks for posting! You've also helped me!
