Hair products - what do you use regularly?

Brias3 wrote: I feel like the products I'm told to use in salons really weigh my hair down. I just got my hair trimmed and highlighted yesterday and she used a bunch of different products and styled it AWESOME before I left- I loved it all afternoon and night. This morning, I copied what she did EXACTLY and it felt so super straight and flat today. When I use a flat iron, I go for this effect, but on a day to day basis, I like a little fullness. Before drying I tousle in a bit of mousse, then use a root lifter at the crown of my head just before I get started. To finish it out, I use a small amount of serum to cut down on the frizzies and then bit of hairspray to keep it in place. It doesn't SEEM like alot to me but is there anything I can cut out or replace without losing the effect of healthy, not fuzzy hair?

luvmykids replied: I go back and forth on this one, I really think they just know some tricks we don't! rolling_smile.gif But MIL and SIL who are hairdressers swear that salon brands really are better than store bought.

I usually use Redken Antisnap, it seems to do the job of serum without the weight, makes my hair feel healthy and shiny and bouncy. And I dry with a giant roundbrush, aim right at the roots, no matter what finished result I want because it's the only way I get any real body at all.

CosmetologyMommy replied:
LOL here comes the hairdresser monster! they really are better and I know this only because we tested the PH balance of store bought and professional and the store bought were really high! I would try Redken Align! I love it so much!

luvmykids replied: Shannan, have you ever used Pureology? I just tried their Nano shampoo and conditioner, holy smokes that stuff is the most awesome ever! (But waaaaay expensive) But that was the first and only time I ever got "salon results" at home all on my own, that stuff is incredible. I was wondering if you'd tried it because I'm dying to know what makes it so different.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I agree that they are better. Have you tried using a round brush to give your hair more fullness? It really helps my hair and I have really thin, fine hair. wacko.gif And there are certain days when it will feel goopy and weighted down no matter what I do to it. dry.gif

CosmetologyMommy replied:
I have heard of it but never tried it....I am scared I will love it and it is soooo expensive and I won't be able to buy it lol! I tried this straigtening balm by Alterna and loved it but Alterna products are sooo expensive too!

CosmetologyMommy replied: I cannot help it though, I still lovr Aussie products, especially their hair spray! tongue.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yeah I'm an Aussie girl, too. thumb.gif Their shampoo is GREAT on my hair. wink.gif

Shaykinmom replied: I have really curly hair and I found that TreSemme for curly hair works great.
Yes I love Aussie hair spray too. I still use that once in a while.

amynicole21 replied:
For curls you should try TiGi Catwalk Curls Rock. I love this stuff!

Brias3 - I am willing to be the serum is the problem - I can never use that stuff because my hair just goes limp (and I have super curly, coarse hair!).

TANNER'S MOM replied: When I want hair with no frizz I like Fructus Garnier.. they have a product called smooth as milk....and my hair feel so light I love it. It doesn't seem thin like it is at all!

I love Redken products too!

Brias3 replied: Good suggestions, ladies! Thank you all smile.gif

I actually do use salon products, my hair just does better with them, I guess maybe its ME not knowing how to fix it up rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

luvmykids replied: Whatever you do, DO NOT use the Pureology Nano. I had a sample, went and got another one, and now I am trying to justify spending that kind of money on hair stuff (which I won't but boy do I want to!). It is hands down unbelievable!
