Hard time finding clothes that fit
MommyToAshley wrote: Anyone else find that this is a hard age to get clothes to fit right? Ashley is in a size 7/8 pants for length, but then they are too big around the waist for her. Even if I get the adjustable waist, they just don't fit her right. Size 6 fits her in the waist, but then regular pants look like capris on her. I am also having an aweful time finding shoes that fit right. They're either too small or too big that they flop off her feet. Even the half sizes don't seem to fit right. The only thing that fits her well are dresses (which it is getting to cold to wear -- its getting too cold to wear her jumper to school because they play outside even in the winter), and her shirts fit fine. It just seems to be a frustrating age to find clothes that will fit her right.
HELP!
Jamison'smama replied: Yes! Jamison is doing best in 6X jeans since they are supposed to be between 6 and 7 --7s are too long and too big around. Some 6s fit in length but she really needs the extra room in a 6x for her thighs. Her shirts need to be a 7 since she is long waisted but the arms are really long. I loved when she could just wear capris and short sleeves.
Have you tried 7 slims?
lisar replied: I know how you feel, lexi is a 8 in length but they dont fit in the waist. So I have to make sure I buy the ones that will let me make the waist smaller with those buttons on the inside.
momofone replied: yes it is difficult buying clothes - one thing i like is draw string pants.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: We're going through the opposite problem with Claudia. She is a size 6x, but her belly is too big for that size, but if we go up to the size 7/8 they are too long and still somtimes are too tight. I just went and bought a bunch of leggings for her. I was told the Old Navy has 3 different styles of pants. Can't remember what they are called but basically there is a slim fit, an average fit and a heafty fit.
jcc64 replied: Corey's just graduated from 4T's, mainly she's so short, especially her legs. So, we kind of have the opposite problem from you- pants that fit her in the waist are always practically half a foot too long for her. She's still just 40 lbs. If you like dresses, why not have Ashley wear leggings underneath with warm socks and boots. Corey has a fake pair of pink Uggs that she wears with outfits like that, and she's no colder than if she was wearing pants.
Kaitlin'smom replied: well when I can get Kaitlin to wear pants size is deffinalty an issue one is to big in the waist others are to short crazy huh. I need to buy her some leggins and heavy tights for the winter.
luvmykids replied: Kylie has the same problem....even with the adjustable waist they don't always cinch up tight enough, and if they do, they look completely goofy but her legs are soooo long and her pet peeve is jeans that are too short.
MommyToAshley replied: That's the same problem I have with the adjustable waist. That, or they give her a "bubble butt" because of the way they bunch up.
MommyToAshley replied: Wow... I think Ashley would make two of Corey. At her last doctor's appointment, she was 4'2" and 54lbs. And, I think she's gone through a growing spurt since then.
I have problems with Ashley's uniform pants fitting her too. I don't want to send her to school in her jumper or skirt because they are only permitted to wear certain "stockings" and she'd freeze outside.
I am curious what kind of leggins you buy that are as warm as pants? Where do you get them? Most of the ones I've seen aren't much warmer than tights and I'm sure you have similar weather there as we do in the winter. I know Ashley would prefer to wear dresses, but on cold days I make her wear pants. She's not always thrilled about it, but her health comes first and Mom over-rules. LOL. If I could find some really warm leggins, then I wouldn't mind the dresses so much.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Olivia nevers wears pants to school~even in the winter. We buy Hanna Andersson leg warmers. They are super heavy~much heavier than tights. Her legs never get cold on the playground. She isn't permitted to wear them during class but they do let her put them on before recess.
A&A'smommy replied: OH yeah we are having issues right now too!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Old Navy actually sells "slim" pants and this is what Maddie wears. She has really long legs and a tiny waist.
I think Wal Mart's Faded Glory also has slim. She wore those in preschool.
And Maddie doesn't wear the uniform pants, either. They fit her really strange. She just wears stockings. If they happen to go outside they allow her to change into sweatpants. But I understand our weather here isn't as brutal as yours can be in the winter.
msoulz replied: MY son has always had trouble - he is bigger around than he is long, so like others, his pants can be way too long if they fit the waist.
We shop at Old Navy for him too. Certain pants are cut larger around so he can wear them without walking on them. Last year I had him try on probably 20 pairs of pants before we went to Old Navy and finally found some, so this year we went right there.
Hopefully you will find some brand that fits.
jcc64 replied: Children's Place always has leggings, they're meant to be worn as pants, but Corey wears them under skirts in the winter, with boots, as I said. Very little of the legging actually winds up exposed, between the boots and the skirt. If it's extremely cold, she could always wear wool tights under the leggings for an extra layer.
luvbug00 replied: i was gonna say 6x as well.
moped replied: That is how it has always been with Jack - I understand your frustration!!!!!!!!
Pants too short, waist isn't right, shoes are too narrow, etc, etc
