Has anyone decided what to do for 2nd Birthday yet

MommyToAshley wrote: I still haven't decided what to do for Ashley. On her first birthday we had a huge cook out with a lot of people. I was thinking of doing something a little smaller this time, and maybe having it someplace else. The pictures of Taven at Chucky Cheese were too cute! Maybe I'll look into a party there. I wanted a real girly theme, but more important is that she has fun!

jem0622 replied: We are going to have our usual gathering at the house. The theme will be The Wiggles. They are still at an age where they don't quite get the birthday thing...so I am not going to host it anywhere. I am strongly considering Chuck E. Cheese for my 4.5 yr old DS when he turns 5 b/c he and his friends would really make the most of the money I'd spend.

I do want to keep the party small, like I did last year. I want to make sure Gabe is a happy boy and not swamped with people and stuff to do.

5littleladies replied: We will probably just do something at home with friends and family-Nothing fancy but since we will have the addition done by then it will be much easier than in the past! biggrin.gif We have gone to Chuck E. Cheese a couple of times-for birthdays and just for the fun of it and Brianna had a great time but I don't think I would do it for her birthday-not quite yet. I'm sure Ashley would have a blast though!

I personally am a bit leery of our Chuck E. Cheese's right now because the past 3 times we have gone the guy who dresses up like Chuck follows me around and puts his arm around me as much as he can!! It's too creepy!!! blink.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I am still at a loss myself. It's going to be small if we do anything. Probably just some cake and a few games. My parents will be here too.

chloe&tysmommy replied: Last year we just had a BBQ and invited our family and a few friends...luckily we had awesome weather for it!

I haven't really decided what we are going to do this year- but more than likely we'll just have something here again...

I think Ashley would have a blast at Chucke cheese! I would consider doing something like that too but we live an hour away from the city so it would be kind of tough for everyone.

DansMom replied: This year Daniel is blessed with having his birthday fall on Thanksgiving day---I think that happens again when he turns 11. We're likely to host Thanksgiving this year for that reason, and invite mostly family and some friends to celebrate both Thanksgiving and Daniel's special day. On his third birthday we'll probably try a playmate birthday party---a real kids party. smile.gif

paradisemommy replied: well we don't know many other kids that are his age so we aren't having anything big. the chuck-e-cheese party is only for family and his brother has 3 kids so i figure we all win and i don't have to play host like we did last year..woo hoo!!

the bummer part of chuck-e-cheese is you can't bring any decorations or anything of your own. i had decided to do a construction theme so i have all the decorations but that's ok cause his birthday is actually on a tuesday so i'm gonna decorate the house just for him and make it a special day for him! wink.gif

Jamison'smama replied: We are having about 15 people total and doing the barnyard theme. I bought red checked table cloths, red and white streamers and balloons and found some little farm animal packages at Target for 1.00 to wrap in bandanas for party favors. Not sure what the food will be but I am following the Parenting magazine theme idea and having the kids wear overalls if they have them--it should be pretty cute. Jamison LOVES animals. We did a very girl-theme last year---everything pink--thought we'd mix-it-up this year.

coasterqueen replied: Last year was too grandiose (sp?) for me, lol, so we are going to make it small this year. We are going to invite Dh's and my immediate families and grandparents. We'll just have cake and ice cream at our house.

I've tossed up several themes with DH which include: a fish theme (she's in love with fish right now), The Wiggles, Dora The Explorer, A Barnyard theme, and Maisy. I wanted either the fish or barnyard theme and get away from licensed charaters this year (we did Pooh last year) but DH thinks we should do Maisy. I need to go look around first though, but I guess we'll try to do Maisy.

We are doing our big baseball event the weekend of Kylie's birthday like we did last year. Last year about 20 people (friends and family) bought tickets to the Batter's Eye Club at Busch Stadium to see a St. Louis Cardinals game. We all stayed overnight and then got up the next morning to come home and celebrate Kylie's birthday. We are doing the same this year except we have rented our own party room and are having it catered.

It's not REALLY for her birthday, we just decided to do it as a tradition every year near her birthday. When I was little my entire family (aunts, uncles, etc) went camping the weekend of my birthday. It was tradition. This is kind of a new tradition for us, the baseball event. It should be fun.

alice&arik replied: We went to Chuck-E-Cheese this afternoon and it was a lot of fun. Arik had a blast. They have this "pretend" band on stage that sing and talk and Arik thought they were so cool! He ran right up to the stage as soon as we got there. But he was distracted with balloons quite a bit. But it was more fun than I thought, but at the same time I expected something completely different. Yeah it was my FIRST time there. rolling_smile.gif But I don't think I would do Arik's party there, especially since you can't bring your own decorations. Plus Arik ran away a few times, he would get all excited and take off laughing. It was cute.

So anyway I think I am just going to have a small party in Minnesota with family. Spiderman will be the theme. But I don't want to go crazy with it. rolling_smile.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: i think we are doing a fire truck theme this year. He's big into them right now, along with baby dolls adn cooking but DH will not let me have a girly party for him! LOL! HE says it's fine that he has a stroller and a dol and a kitchen but the party is pushing it! Guess we can next year for Kat,! But I thought about doing a trip to the local fire house so the kids could see the trucks and stuff. Since he's a November birthday it's usually pretty cold, so we'll probably have jsut a couple friends and family and a few of the kids from the daycare center come. But we are stumped for present ideas!!! SO any suggestions are welcome! We are trying to get everything done in advance of hte baby because it'll be kinda hectic after she gets here!

ediep replied: I think we are doing a puzzle theme this year. That is Jason's favorite thing to play with at the moment. I am going to make the invites...4 puzzle pieces that the guest have to assemble to get the info LOL, I found a book that has ideas for cake and snacks that are puzzle related. I have blank puzzles that I am going to put all the childrens names on and have them decorate it to make their own puzzle and I will have puzzles as favors.

3_call_me_mama replied:
AWSOME IDEA! That's a really cool idea and a neat way to get the families involved!

ediep replied:
thanks! I think it should be fun. Don't know what to serve that would work with the puzzle theme.

paradisemommy replied: maybe you could serve pizza but instead of having them cut it the normal way, cut it yourself so it is into all different puzzle pieces?? dunno.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: smile.gif I think I'm going to break down and do the Strawberry Shortcake Theme. The party supplies are just soooooo cute! My MIL was in Hinkley on one of those bus tours and bought Claudia a really cute Strawberry Shortcake Skort set. It's just too cute! We will probably have the families over for a BBQ since my birthday is only 2 days before Claudias, but we won't be celebrating it. thumb.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
My DH has the same birthday. It only happens once in a while, but this year it will be on Thanksgiving. That's pretty neat. I think My DH was actually born on a day that it fell on Thanksgiving as well.

aspenblue1 replied: We are doing a Bear Care (as Isabella calls them) theme since that is her favorite. We are just going to have friend and close family there.
