Has anyone ever been to

I've ALWAYS wanted to go! So, I just sort of mentioned it in passing last night after we put the kids to bed and Rick and I were in the office on our computers. So, after I mention it, Rick said, I would LOVE TO GO to Ireland. We started looking online and the prices were MUCH more reasonable than I ever expected. We found a package that includes staying in a Castle!!!! So we're shooting for going in January! The big question now is whether we should take the kids or not. We discussed it and one part of us wants this to be a romantic carefree trip with just the two of us, the other part of both of us wanted to take them b/c we both want to raise our kids to be cultered people and to have the opportunity to experience a lot of things and places. It's a toss up, I think perhaps if we can get my parents to go with us then we would take the kiddos. Rick is such a protector and he's so scared of taking the kids out of this country. I told him they were probably safer in Ireland than they were in the US!
Kaitlin'smom replied: Nope but its one on my list along with goign back to France and seeing England. Also I would like to see Boudapest, I have heard its a very beautiful country.
MissyKay2005 replied: I have never been to there but that is so cool that you can go! I would love to go some day We are planning a trip to Roam within the next two years And having to the same issues on weather or not to bring to kids with us or just go our selves. We will see closer to time.
amymom replied: Oh gosh! My daughter wants to go so bad, I say take the kids. Absolutely. But that is me.
I've been to Ireland, I was five, I remember lots of things, but mostly relatives from that trip. My mother was from Ireland, so she took her first three children to Ireland for the summer before my older brother started 2nd grade and I Kindergarten. We were there from June until September. My grandparents were poor farmers and my mother was the 2nd oldest of 13 kids. She and her older brother came to the US and sent money home. This trip was the first opportunity for my grandparents to meet their grandkids. ...oops thread drift sorry....
Anyway I so recommend the trip to be a family trip. Ireland is a wonderful country, the people are friendly and invite you into their homes. I do not remember specific places except I remember an uncle holding me upside down while I kissed the blarney stone. And I remember castles. My brother and his wife went for their honeymoon 10 years ago and spent 5 weeks there. They did the tourist things as well as stayed with family. My aunts always travel in January or February they say the fares are better then.
Someday I will go..... when I get that all expense paid trip to anywhere.
kit_kats_mom replied: my dh went before I met him. He wants to go back. I'll see if I can get him to tell you more
KingMom replied: My sister in law always had this desire in her teenage years to go to Ireland... While in her second year of college (last year) she met an exchange student from Ireland (Rory) and they fell in love I guess you can say. He left in May to go back and she left here Aug 1 to go over there. She plans to stay for a year with him, going to school there also this year. She has been so excited.
Funny how things work out
I think they hope to one day marry and live in the States!
I've gotten one email from here saying she has visited famous graves, castles, etc. She is having a blast and to think, she still has 11 1/2 months there. She will be home for Christmas though and says she will bring some "beers" for her brother (my dh).
Maybe we can come over there during the next year while she is there and visit, who knows!

Boys r us replied: Lisa that would be awesome!!!!
Thanks for all of the input!!! Anne, those sound like great memories, even if you were too young to retain a lot...what an experience..see that's what I want to give my children!! I've even thought about maybe just taking Tanner..brae is too young to ever remember and may be a bigger pain than it's worth to take him that far! So..I'm leaning towards jan/feb b/c it's when i will have enough vacation time to go(already used up this years...haa) but yes the airfare is much cheaper then..the only reservation I have is..won't it be blustering cold there then? anyone anyone?
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Take the kids and I will go to babysit!!! I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Ireland! My Grandma and Grandpa went once and they loved it!
CantWait replied: Haven't been, but I'd sure love to go. Hope you guys have a great time, with or without the kids.
3xsthefun replied: My dad has been over there, the company he works for sent him over there. He went about 2 years ago. Anyways he said it is a really beautiful place over there, and people are really friendly.
I would love go someday, it seems like it is a great place.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I would take the kids! What boy (or girl) doesn't have the dream of staying in a real castle!!! If you can afford it, bring along a sitter, or your parents or inlaws will always do if you can handle them around the whole time! I would love to go to Ireland, but honestly, I don't see it being a very romantic place anyway. So take the kids!
amymom replied: Why didn't I think of that!!!
Boys r us replied: Rae..you don't think Ireland would be romantic?? OMG..lol..I can't imagine a more romantic place..with the nastalgic castles and beautiful country side and little quiat bed and breakfasts..Oh I can't wait!!!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: For my college grad and my little sister's, my grandma took us both with her to Ireland and Scotland. It was a wonderful trip, made all the more special because we were with each other and our grammy.
