Has this election stressed anyone out?
coasterqueen wrote: Or has it made you feel like the outcome could be detrimental in some way? I don't want to know who you voted for so please let's keep presidential candidate names out of it.
I just feel like this is a very "hot button" election for me and I feel like my world is going to change if the person I voted for doesn't make it into office. I've been so stressed out and I have no idea why.
Please tell me I'm not the only one.
Boys r us replied: yes it stresses me out to no end to be honest..I'm scared for the future of our country and I, like you, feel that if the person I voted for doesn't win, then our security and future is going to be shakey AT BEST!
amynicole21 replied: Yes, i've been extremely passionate about this election. I think it is the most important one in my lifetime, and maybe even longer.
coasterqueen replied: Whew! Well I'm glad I'm not the only one...even if we aren't all voting for the same person it's nice to know I'm not alone.
That's why I think I'm even more stressed out that this won't be over with tonight.
Kaitlin'smom replied: me to I feer what will happen if my person loses......we need a strong person in office and to be honest neighert one is very strong but we have to decide, just hope who ever does win does not push us further down.
MommyToAshley replied: I am the same way, I have been very stressed over this election. In a way, I will be glad when it is over.
5littleladies replied: I'm right there with you Karen. In fact I'm a little too stressed out. I get so hyper-tense about this whole thing I start shaking. Right now I think I'm going to throw up. How's that for stressed out?
DansMom replied: Extremely stressed and nervous about the future. And hoping, whoever wins, that the votes are properly counted and that everyone who has a right to vote is allowed to do so.
MomofJandB replied: Yes, I plan to be up until all hours of the morning watching the coverage. Lately our news has talked about something like Pre election stress disorder! It's the same idea as the post war disorder (can't think of the name of it) but obviously at a different level. People have actually gone to the doctor for this! We are not alone on being stressed out. I'm so glad it is ending!!!!
redchief replied: I think it's wonderful how this country has thrown itself into this election. They're talking about an unprecidented turnout! Minorities are committed to voting this year like never before in history! What a great country we live in.
Now to answer the question: I've made my political opinions known to everyone I personally effect where I feel it's appropriate, but I do NOT feel that the country will be horribly disfigured if my candidate doesn't win.
Because of our country's system of checks and balances, the office of the President must seek counsel and support from Congress. When that president has a Congress of his own party it is easier for that president's policies and decisions to be enacted. This country has a really good habit, though, of not allowing that kind of imbalance very long.
The office of president, even when the person that holds it isn't the brightest bulb in the box, can't change in such a great way as to alter the make up of the nation as a whole over the long haul. All presidents are held accountable for what they will upon the people, and that is the best deterrant to power-mongering I can think of. In other places, the leaders have no accountabiliity, and therefore, little fear of repercussion.
MomToMany replied: I'm scared about what might happen if my guy loses. This is a very important election.
My2Beauties replied: I think RedCheif makes a good point but I will be PO'd if my candidate doesn't win!!!! and scared of what will happen to our nation if my candidate doens't, I guess you can't help but be worried!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'll be on pins and needles all day. I'm freaking out over this. I will be so very sad if the person I voted for does not win. I've never felt so strongly about an election. This seems to be important to so many.
momof2girls replied: it has me stressed out!
A&A'smommy replied: I'm like the rest of you I think this election is VERY important and I truly believe that things will change for the worst if they person I voted for doesn't win.
gr33n3y3z replied: Yes I'm a little stressed, I just hope my guy wins also .... If not ....nothing anyone can do about it ...... Just pray
