Have you ever eaten lavendar?
luvmykids wrote: A friend of mine's DH is a chocolatier, she gave me some of his concoctions today and one of them was chocolate and lavendar. I couldn't get over the fact that it smelled like my laundry softener
My3LilMonkeys replied: Hmmm....I don't think I could, just for the smell issue like you said. I can't for the life of me eat pine nuts because I swear they taste exactly like Pine Sol smells (and people think I'm crazy for saying I can taste the smell).
luvmykids replied: That is EXACTLY what happened
I say that all the time......if I clean with bleach I say I can taste it and everyone thinks I'm crazy.
bawoodsmall replied: I would eat it. Anything with chocolate is good. How sad that your friends hubby is a chocolatier. That must be the pits.
luvmykids replied: Yeah, she complains ALL the time
Calimama replied: No, I've never heard of chocolate and lavender!! I'm not sure I could get past the smell either.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: never heard of chocolate and lavendar.
I make chocolate covered flower petals in the summer time, but I usually use rose petals, tulip petals and when they bloom, day lilies. Yum! The day lilies petals can be eaten just like that , htough, as far as I'm concerned...they're sweet enough on their own!
MoonMama replied: I never knew you could eat it.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Yes and I think it tastes like the smell or smells like the taste Whatever...either way not so yummy IMO! I made chocolate covered hot tamales a few weeks ago-YUMMY!
luvmykids replied: LOL I bet those were good.....I love hot cocoa with cinammon in it, so I'd probablylike those
And that is what I told my friend when she asked what I thought....that it tastes like it smells
Nina J replied: I've had lavendar cheese.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Yes, I've had it. A friend of mine actually gave me a dark chocolate and lavendar candy bar for Xmas. It was okay IMO. I REALLY love the smell of lavendar, it's actually my favorite scent for body stuff. But I don't really care for it with chocolate. I've also had it in a honey balsamic vinegar glaze that you put over cheese (same friend made this). It was better with cheese!!! I have a ton growing out in my front yard...but I don't cook with it!
bawoodsmall replied: What???? That seems odd.
Celestrina replied: No, you're not crazy (or at least this doesn't prove it ). The sense of taste and smell are very closely linked. How many times have you gone into a restaurant and could nearly taste the food, especially if they use strong seasonings like garlic.
