He fights me - to eat

Edward's Mommy wrote: When I'm trying to feed Edward, I go to put the spoon into his mouth and before it gets there he slaps it out of my hand. I know he's hungry because he's acting like he's hungry. How do I get him to eat and stop smacking the spoon out of my hand?

gr33n3y3z replied: maybe help him hold the spoon and see if he will eat that way smile.gif

kayla's mama replied:

ITA, we went through a phase like that. I just let Kayla hold the spoon and try to feed herself. Hope meal times get better for you hug.gif hug.gif

Edward's Mommy replied:
I thought about that, so I asked my grandmother and she told me that I was rushing him to grow up before he's ready! blink.gif Would I really be pushing him to grow up too early?

gr33n3y3z replied: No not at all
Some children like to feed themselves smile.gif

kayla's mama replied: No i don't think that would push him to grow up to fast. Just let him have some fun with meal time. It gets messy put they have fun wink.gif

Edward's Mommy replied: I'll try that and see how it works! Thanks ladies! hug.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: yw good luck smile.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Or try foods that he can eat with his hands if he cant do the spoon thing yet.....even if its messy at least he is eatting and feeling more independant

CosmetologyMommy replied: Aidan does it too. I kind of have to hold his arms down a little. I think he does it because he is excited.

MiniMomy replied: Good luck! thumb.gif

EvesMom replied:
I was gonna say the same thing laugh.gif Maybe finger foods?

Edward's Mommy replied: What kind of finger foods should I give him? He eats the fruit and veggie stars from Gerber. I have thought of the toddler finger foods, but I don't know if he's ready.

EvesMom replied: I would try soft veggies, like well cooked carrots ans such to start. See how he takes to it.

Edward's Mommy replied:
Okay, thank you!
