Help! Help! Help! - Need more design help w/bedroom
coasterqueen wrote: Ok, I need major help and quick. The sale on the chair I am looking at ends tomorrow night so I have to decide quick! Below are pics of my room with new bedding and the one wall painted taupe. We still have to paint the other three walls. I'll post the pics and see what you think. Here's what I'm needing help on. I am looking at this chair this chair to be my accent color - a seafoam color. I would like to put the chair where I have my printer at now. I'm a bit scared to go with this seafoam color, but right now I need an accent color. I thought about going with Crimson, but I wondered if it would be too dark. Also if I go with the seafoam color, I guess I'd use that color for other accent things in the room - candles, vases, pics etc. So I need to know what your thoughts are on the seafoam color for the chair. The other thing I need help with is deciding on black furniture for the room. I found this dresser at Target that looks cute dresser but I'm not sure if it matches my mission style furniture that well. Also not sure if that chair really matches the furniture I already have in the room. I'm also looking for a corner shelf or a small black lingerie dresser to go in another corner of the room.
So help, please! I need help. Right now the room looks too chocolate and taupe, creams. I'm a mess.
Here are the pics - FYI there are 4 of them. Please don't pay attention to pics I have on wall now or any other extra decor in there. I haven't taken it out yet.

lovemy2 replied: I think it looks nice but am not sure about the seafoam green - but to be honest I am a decorating retard I would go more with a brugundy or something but like I said my opinion on this stuff really doesn't mean too much
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Okay here is what I'm thinking. I like the chair, but I don't think I like that color. Not really sure if it will be right in the room. Maybe if you added some pillows with the color in it. I showed my Mom who is the HGTV queen and she said maybe something with oranges or a salmon color. I was also thinking rusts as well. Something brighter since the other colors are warmer. I do like the dresser, but you might be right that it won't go as well with the other furniture. The room looks really great Karen.
Cece00 replied: You need a red or even maybe a blue, but I dont think the seafoam looks good at all. Nor the dresser.
If you dont have anything else black in the room, I probably wouldnt go with a black piece at all.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Karen to be honest the chair isn't seafoam enough. It's not bright enough to look good with the color scheme.
coasterqueen replied: Ok, so would a crimson color like this workcrimson color
Cece00 replied: I think that looks MUCH better.
luvmykids replied: I actually kind of like the seafoam, it's still an earthy green and although it wouldn't pop, it keeps the room mellow. I do like the crimson better but you have to think about what you want to pop, do you want the red chair to be the focus of the room?
I like the idea of the black dresser and think it works ok, but not sure if it's THE one, kwim?
It's looking beautiful though, made me want to take a nap
kit_kats_mom replied: funny Karen, our comforters are almost identical. I have chocolate drapes, a similar comforter and throw. My walls are a light seafoam green and my accent pillows are sea foam and chocolate. I like the chair.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I guess I am the odd one out because I LOVE the seafoam chair. Our room is kind of the same color scheme, though we don't have FURNITURE ... LOL
We have tan and chocolate bedding and accents of a seafoamy/blue !!
So I LOVE the seafoam chair, I like the dresser but if none of the other furniture is black the dresser would stick out and look like it was in the wrong place!!
GL!!
Our Lil' Family replied: Honestly, if it was my room I wouldn't use the chair as an accent color. I'd use pillows and throws instead. IMO all the big things should blend, comforter, curtains and the chair. So if it was me I'd do a chocolate chair and drape a throw over it in a brighter color. JMO
coasterqueen replied: I have sat and thought about this more. Then I went back to the furniture store with printouts of my room, pillows on my bed, etc and the lady and I talked more. We decided to go with a brown suade chair that I loved when I was in there the first time and then use a really pretty turquois color as the accent. I bought a turquois throw there at the furniture store to bring home and put it on the bed to see what it looks like. Then if I like the color we'll use the turquois throughout the room in vases, pictures, candles, pillows, etc. I LOVED the color of the throw against the chair at the store.
This way I'll never be stuck with an accent color chair I can't do anything with if I change the colors of my room. This way I can always change the accent color.
Now, hopefully tomorrow I won't change my mind when I go to pay for it. I wanted to talk w/Dh about it before I actually bought it but he fell asleep and wouldn't answer his cell. So I'll go back tomorrow and pay for it.
coasterqueen replied: Oh and now that I'm going to use the turquois color as my accent, I think that's the color I'm going to paint my bathroom walls - but more of a lighter turquois, not the WOW shade I picked for accents in the bedroom.
luvmykids replied: I think the turquoise is a GREAT choice, I have a lot of it in my living room (which is mostly browns).
Our Lil' Family replied: That sounds PERFECT Karen! I bet that chair is awesome. The bathroom will look fabulous as well!!!!! I cannot wait to see pics of the finished rooms!!!
CantWait replied: WAY BETTER. The other one didn't fit at all. I LOVE that chair, it looks so cozy.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I love turquoise and chocolate. My bedroom are those two colors. Not seafoam, but more on the blue side. I completely disagree with adding crimson or orange. You'll have an overabundance of earthy colors IMO. I like that you went with a suede brown chair and turquoise accents! I bet it will look great! As far as the dresser, I agree with you, I don't think that the style of the dresser works with your Mission style bed. I like black furniture, but I actually am not sure it works with your bedroom. What about something with an off-white antique finish? Something that picks up the brown in your furniture, but also lightens up the room with some white or cream. Something that actually works as an accent piece in the room? Even a cool table or bookshelf with the turquoise rubbed into it would work, but probably not as easy to find. Your curtains looks great BTW!
