Help! She keeps saying she hurts

coasterqueen wrote: I don't know what to do. Kylie keeps holding her private area and saying she hurts. I thought maybe it was gas because she'll say that right before passing gas, but it's not that. She doesn't have a diaper rash at all, either. I asked her if she hurts there and she says yes. So we thought well maybe the diaper is too tight. Ya know, just like wearing tight underwear and pants and they rub you and hurt? Like that. So I put a bigger diaper on her and she still said it. So I put toddler training underwear on her and she's been fine and not saying she hurts. Whereas before she kept grabbing herself saying it hurts. sad.gif

The only problem is Kylie has no desire to tell you she has to go pee or poo. She just keeps peeing and then when she does she walks away from it, points at it and says "mess". It doesn't even phase her that she peed all down her leg, the underwear and all over her socks. :-( Many many months ago, it did bother her, but not now. I must have pressured her (which I don't think I did) or screwed up somehow many months ago when she actually showed interest. sad.gif

So do I just let her wear the underwear and spend the rest of the days cleaning it up??? I hate for her to keep saying she hurts sad.gif. I've even tried different brands today and she keeps saying the same thing when she has a diaper on. sad.gif

ediep replied: oh man, thats tough. Does she have some kind if infection or something? That was the first hing I thought of when I read your post, maybe the diaper is irritating her???? I am just guessing ......how about pull ups? Maybe they won't hurt

Good luck! Hope you figure it out soon

kimberley replied: have you changed brands of diapers? can you see any rash or irritation? what about trying cloth with a diaper cover? if she isn't ready for potty training (which it sounds like she isn't) i wouldn't go with the underwear just yet. that is just a lot of mess for you. i hope you figure it out. grouphug.gif

momof2girls replied: Have her drink some cranberry juice and lots of water maybe she has a lil bit of a bladder infection??
I hope you figure it out! I have my fingers cossed for you.

momof2girls replied: I just thought of something else, you can give her a bath and put a handful of baking powder this will help if she is irritated in anyway.
ANd a pedi told me you should not use all those cute bubble bath's it irritates.

MommyToAshley replied: The first thing I thought about when I read your post is that she had a bladder infection or UTI. I think I would take her to the ped to test because a UTI can lead to more serious problems if it is not treated. She'd have to give a urine sample. Maybe the diaper irrated the infection more? And the pants don't because you change them right away since you know she's gone pee. Just a thought?

On a side note, I doubt you screwed up and pressured Kylie, it's probably just a phase she is going through. grouphug.gif They have a mind of their own at this age, don't they! wacko.gif

amynicole21 replied: Poor baby! Maybe you should try cloth for a few days. If she is still complaining on Monday, take her to the Ped. I hope it clears up quickly sad.gif

momof2girls replied: How is she doing? I was thinking bout her today

A&A'smommy replied: Poor kid! (((HUGS))) how is she now?

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif I don't know what to suggest! Poor Baby! If she continues to say that it hurts I would take her to see the doctor. grouphug.gif

grouphug.gif I also agree with Dee Dee and I don't think you did anything to screw her up. Some kids show an interest in potty training, but aren't really ready! Don't be to hard on yourself! grouphug.gif

aspenblue1 replied: Poor Kylie!

Is she feeling better today?

coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone. She seemed to do better on Sunday. I put her back in diapers, though, because the messes were unreal and she wouldn't let me put plastic pants on over her underwear. She wouldn't even realized she pee'd and I would walk somewhere in the house and fall in pee. Ewww!

I am going to call the doctor today because now I'm worried about a UTI. She had one at around 2 months of age and it was a horrifying experience in the ER. So I'm going to call the doc today to be safe. Also her poo's have been smelling severely sour (sorry tmi). The smell is not normal what so ever. So I'll let you know what I find out.

Otherwise she's fine.

Thanks again wink.gif.

momof2girls replied: I have been wondering how she is! Keep us updated!

MommyToAshley replied: Glad to hear she was doing better on Sunday. So, what did the doc say?

mommy2mylittleangels replied: mine had the same problem about the age of 2 and that was when she started wearing panties. I took her to the doctor because it hurt and she was fine but they did tell me taht if i gave her bubble baths that is what was irritatib=ng her privates. I didn't know this but bubble baths are bad for little girls. I don't know if she takes bubble baths but maybe that would help

coasterqueen replied:
Yeah I'd always heard not to give bubble baths. I think my mom has given her one, mad.gif . But I haven't so I don't think that's bothering her. It might just be nothing, hopefully we'll know in a few days smile.gif.
