Help my eyes are really swollen!

I took some Benedryl (sp) and claretin (sp) thinking it had to be an allergy but to what who knows, and hoped it would help. It hasn't they are even worse now and now the upper lids are starting to swell too the right lid is REALLY bad! I can barly keep them open because I can feel the pressure so bad. They are a bit tender but I don't know what's wrong. I haven't put anything on my face today and yesterday I used the same makeup I always do, I haven't used or brought anything new into my house. What should I do? I thought about trying to get an appointment at the after hours place, but DH isn't sure they can really do anything. Braedin's birthday party is tomorrow we have about 40 people coming and I look HORRIBLE!

bawoodsmall replied: I say go to the doctor. I would take the chance that maybe they could help. Does it hurt?

MoonMama replied: Not pink eye, I've seen that more time's then I can count (I used to be a nanny and worked at daycares before that). They are a little tender but I think its from the pressure. I called they on-call nurses and they said to get in too. Now I'm just waiting for DH to get back and watch Braedin so I can go. This is just great I have so much to do before tomorrow.

MommyToAshley replied: If it was just one eye, I would have guessed a stye as well. But, not sure what the chances are of getting one in both eyes? My eyes do exactly what you are describing with my seasonal allergies. Usuall claritin and cold compresses do the tirck. I don't wear my contacts when this happens and visine can help too.

Let us know what the doc says, I hope you feel better before the party.

MoonMama replied: Thanks everyone. The doctor said its a mix between allergies and being super dried out. So I have some cream to rub around it and I have to have a humidifier going 24/7 for a few days. I'm also supposed to keep taking the Benadryl, thank goodness it doesn't make me tired.

Please send some swelling go down by tomorrow vibes. I don't want to look like a swolled freak for the party.

yep same here I get like that when the rabbit gets to close to me and they itch and hurt so bad and they get red and they clear up with in a few hours after eye drops and allergie meds

MoonMama replied: WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Swelling as all down for the most part! Thanks everyone. Now if I could just get Braedin to take his morning nap before the party starts in 1 hour and 58 minutes, plus we both need baths/showers and to get dressed.

Jamison'smama replied: Mine did that when I discovered I had developed an allergy to Advil -- I had taken it for years then all of the sudden, I was allergic.
