Helppppppppppppppppp me people!!

Calimama wrote: Miabella lately has been taking her poop OUT of her diaper!! Like, if I put her down for a nap with a clean diaper, she wakes up and I go in to get her she's pulled her poop out and it's on the floor! I've tried covers, pants, shorts, everything!! She doesn't always take the diaper off but sometimes she does. Is this a phase? Does it mean she's ready to potty train? Is there a solution? I'm soo sick of this.. wacko.gif unsure.gif

PrairieMom replied: how does she get it out? have you tried putting her in a luff length sleeper backwards with the feet cut off yet?

My3LilMonkeys replied: Phase. Brooke went through it rather quickly (she only did it 3 times) so I don't know for sure if she just decided it wasn't fun or if my method of making her help clean it up worked.

Calimama replied:
She puts her little hands down her diaper, or unfastens one side and then closes it back. I haven't tried the backwards sleeper idea though!! Maybe that would work! Thanks!

PrairieMom replied: I remember the one and only time Ben pulled that stunt, I cleaned the room while Dh had ben in the tub. The sound of DH retching gave me the giggles, then he got mad at me for laughing at him. rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

DVFlyer replied: Keian does that sometimes, but usually takes his diaper off too....

Calimama replied:
Oh you're MEAN! rolling_smile.gif I'm the one gagging while I clean her room and then bathe her, and then putting it all in the laundry. rolling_smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: ick... I'm sure its a phase.. I was lucky alyssa didn't go through it (but that doesn't mean Autumn wont wacko.gif ) I hope she gets through it quickly!!!!

Calimama replied:
I reallly hope she doesn't. I guess it's better than her throwing a fit all the time or something but seriously.. YUCK!! wacko.gif

lovemy2 replied: I agree its a phase and I suggest DUCT TAPE around the diaper - that is and not too tight laugh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I'm glad that was one phase Ashley didn't go through. The backwards sleeper sounds like a good idea.

mckayleesmom replied: OMG...I can totally sympathize....Mckaylee did that everyday for about a year....I tried everything and nothing worked....backward sleepers...etc...Nothing worked....Im so glad Russell didn't pick that up.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: PHASE! Wil went through it. growl.gif For some kids, yes it may mean they are ready to PT, because they don't like the feeling. But if she isn't showing any other signs...ie; diaper stays dry for long periods of time, etc. Then I wouldn't force the issue. Some kids, like Wil, are just into experimenting. Plus, since it was ONLY during naptime, I think he knew it would cause mom to come into his room, therefore taking less time away from naptime. It was also happening right around when I first had Wesley, so could be a call for attention as well. Who knows why exactly, but you are not alone! I have had several friends whos kids did the same.

I just made sure to check on Wil literally a minute or so after I put him in his room. Because he almost always went poop immediately after I shut the door. And if I left him any longer, he was into it. So I caught on to his timing and just made sure I caught him before he got the poop out of his diaper. I would even sometimes wait until after he pooped to put him down, so it meant adjusting his nap schedule some. Eventually he just stopped doing it.

This is JMO, but do not scold her or make her feel shameful for what she's done. I sometimes think this is why it took Wil so long to PT. I thought telling him it was "gross" to smear your poop on the floor would help, but to this day, he STILL calls poop by the name gross. My ped said not to label what comes out of them with any negative name or they associate it as a bad thing. What my ped recommended was to say "we do not do this. (point to the poop)" and then ask them to help you clean it up. Always put the poop IN the potty so they start associating where it is meant to go. HTH

Anyhow, long story short, it's a phase and I know what you're dealing with Denise, it's AWFUL!! And it's so exhausting and really is GROSS, but just know it will pass.

boyohboyohboy replied:
christine are you related to my dh!! rolling_smile.gif
he thinks thats the solution to everything!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: it is a phase...though I can guarantee i can up yours...

I found Katy AND Matt covered in her poop one day when I heard them playing instead of napping. I went in and it was EVERYWHERE. I was mortified and gagged teh entire time I cleaned them up and her room... It was horrible!!!

I have heard lots of suggestions...she was old enough to get out of any clothes by that point but
duct tape over diaper (she probably couldn;t have gotten out of that...but never tried it...maybe I did now that I think about it....hmmmmm)
onesie over pants during nap time
backwards sleeper

MoonMama replied: Oh my goodness Denise! wacko.gif wacko.gif hug.gif hug.gif What about putting her in onesies? Can she get them undone? Even if its only for nap time it might help. I really hope it passes soon. hug.gif

lisar replied: sorry I have to laugh but.....But if you look back I had this same problem with Raygen. She finally just grew out of it. EVERYTHING I tried didnt work. I know it sucks majorly. I hated every single moment of it. I was changing her bed stuff twice a day.

My2Beauties replied:
You took the words out of my mouth, Hanna never did this, but I think Aubrey is gonna give me a run for my money! wink.gif

:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: My older 2 didn't do this at all but Kyla...oh Kyla...she was a walking talking pooping monster!!
She slept in a playpen in my bed for about 6 weeks because she crawled out of her crib in her room and refused to sleep in a bed so we set it up in there. Anyway she would take the poop out of her diaper and smear it everywere! It would be in the mesh of the playpen, all over her, in her hair, thrown onto the floor. She did that every day or every other day for about 2 months. I was almost to my wits end when she finally quit it. Just one day she didn't do it anymore and I was so thankful that that stage was finally done and over with.

Hopefully Miabella will get through that phase soon. It is NO FUN!

grapfruit replied: Somebody else on here had a load of poop stories. I can't remember her name, but she lives in Switzerland. Where is she??
