Heres a question ON BIG KID BEDS - Maybe a silly one

moped wrote: So, as you all know I am the sleep nazi....Jack is still in a crib, but I was jsut thinking about htis. So, we sometimes go away for weekend with family and I currently take the play pen for him to sleep in. How do you go away and have them sleep in a bed.....and actually make it work? Make any sense? Do you take rails with you?

Not that I am puytting Jack in a bed now, I was just curious if anyone else worried about that?

kit_kats_mom replied: I usually just take one rail (mine fold down to fit a suitcase) and roll up a blanket or push the bed against the wall.

DVFlyer replied: They usually sleep in between us in the bed.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: We haven't been in this situation yet since Alex moved to a big boy bed.
He has slept at MIL's but does just fine there. She puts a gate in the door so he can't leave the room and fall down the stairs!

luvmykids replied: They sleep in the bed between adults, even Macie does fine in a "big" bed.

3_call_me_mama replied: 2 options

1) in teh other bed in teh room (usually we get a suite so there are 2 doubles in one and a queen in teh other ) and we just put a pillow on each side of them so the have something to roll against (they usually end up scrunched against teh headboard.

2) sleepign bags on teh floor smile.gif They think it's neat to camp out. And MIL got them those redy beds that inflate and have teh sleeping bag attached so when we go there thats what they use.

danahas4monkeys replied: I just pack the pack n play! I havent been brave enough to not use it! He is sneeky and quiet, he is almost 27mths.

ediep replied: we have only slept at my parents house since Jason has been in a reg bed and I brought his bed rail.

In a hotel, I would ask if they have bed rails or I'd bring my own

CantWait replied: Anthony sleeps fine in a big bed, so it's not something I worry about.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner moved into a big boy bed before his 2nd birthday. We never bought rails or any of that stuff. Yeah he fell out a couple times, but he quickly learned and has been great since. Plus, his bed is very low. When we go somewhere he just sleeps in a different bed or on the floor on a sleeping bag or something. I think once kids get use to something it's always going to be a challenge at first, but they eventually learn. It just takes consistancy.

C&K*s Mommie replied: The girls can sleep in regular beds without probs. I may be concerned over Kel's legs falling off the bed, causing her to fall too, but I would use pillows or something as a barrier in that case. Kel still opts (and I let her) sleep with me, so all is fine there, too.

Kaitlin'smom replied: well after moving to her toddler bed, when she spent the night away form home she was either on the floor or in a twin bed. when we went to FL last year she slept fine in the queen all by herself

boyohboyohboy replied: I always took the pack n play when I traveled. Caleb started to sleep in a toddler bed at 18 months, but it was in my room next to my bed. (he had to hold my hand till he feel asleep...)
but when he was 3 and spent his first night away from us, he slept in the bed with his grammy, and then as he got a little older and more used to sleep overs, she got him bed rails and a step for his bed. It was a regular full size bed. He never fell out.

MyLuvBugs replied: Lorelei has a little fold up tent thingy called a "PeaPod". It has an inflatable mattress and is completely enclosed. She's getting too big for it now, but We were thinking about getting one of those inflatable mattress/sleeping bags that they sell at Target for her. Really the only places that we go are DH's parents and My parents places and they have toddler beds for her at both, but just in case. smile.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke does fine in a normal bed. She is not one to move much in her sleep so she doesn't fall out or anything.
