Hey Rae - Is today interview day?

lisar replied: If it is today (I cant remember exactly either) Good luck
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Ahhhhhh THANKS so much for remembering! I actually just took a shower and waiting for Wesley to get up from his nap before I go. So I had a little time to get on here to relax some. They are cutting down a HUGE tree in our neighbors yard today, of all days, so the sound is really getting on my nerves! I wanted some peace and quiet so that I can collect my thoughts. I have reviewed my resume and did some research about the company online. I'm going to drop the boys off at my folks and come back here and change. I splurged at Ann Taylor yesterday and bought a really nice professional outfit, so I feel good and ready.
Thanks! I need all the good luck vibes I can get!!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Good luck!!!!!
Brias3 replied: Good luck! You'll do great
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Yeah me! It went great you guys. I was a bit nervous going in and just sat there like a deer in headlights, but the President started out by talking about the organization. So he really took the floor, which is always a bit intimidating but at least helped to break the ice. I wasn't sure if he was expecting me to leap in and ask questions or just hear him out. I chose to hear him out because it seemed safest, but there was a lot of nodding my head for a long time in the beginning which made me feel a little stupid. There were three people in the interview. The incoming Pres of the nonprofit, the Director of the city Parks and Recs and a Board Member. We spoke for at least an hour. Lots of questions about my experience w/nonprofits, event planning, fundraising type stuff. Asked how I felt about calling/emailing board members (bugging them) to remind them of meetings. I think I left a good impression, because when the PAC Director walked me out, she handed me her card and said "if this doesn't work out, I would be happy to put you in front of people here at the PAC department that handle all of our events. I think your expertise would really come in handy". I have been thinking of becoming an independent contractor for special events, which I mentioned in the interview. Well they said that it would be great if I did both for them, coordinating their board meetings and helping with fundraisers. They really liked that I am a self-starter, ready to take on new challenges.
I was hit pretty hard with the "why haven't you worked for four years" question. Which stung a bit, but I was honest and confident about explaining my choice to SAH. They liked that I volunteered after having Wesley to plan all the activities for my mom's club.
We will see! The thought of going back to work is a little bittersweet for me, but this position gives me the flexibility to work from home, only 10 hours a week. More hours if the organization picks up more programs and events. And if not this job, maybe I have a foot in with Parks and Recs which put on some really cool events in the city! Woo hoo!
Sorry to toot my own horn....Just feeling proud of myself. I'll let you know if I get the job.
MoonMama replied: WOOOO WTG Rae! KUP on the job, I'm so proud of you.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: WTG Rae!!!
MommyToAshley replied: WTG Rae -- I knew you'd knock their socks off!! Did they give any indication when they'd notify you?
Brendan's_Mommy replied: WTG
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Not exactly. They said that they plan to move fast, but didn't give me a date as to when they would notify me. And I was stupid not to ask. I got a bit carried away towards the end and didn't think of asking who to contact to followup, etc. I was excited I guess! But the Director gave me her card, so I will most likely contact her Monday, if not tomorrow.
I'm waiting patiently by the phone.............................
Teesa®© replied: WTG!!! I sure hope they call you soon so that you don't go totally insane waiting for the phone to ring
sparkys2boys replied: WTG Rae!!! Sounds like you really impressed them! LEt us know!
