Hey guys! I've missed you all.

kit_kats_mom wrote: I just finished reading your responses to Jenn's posts about Lauren and our family. You have no idea how much it warms my heart to have people thinking about us. wub.gif

I finally had DH bring a bottle up to the hospital so that I could come home, nap without an apena moniter going off every 20 minutes, eat some non hospital food, take a hot shower and visit with K. I'm going nutso without an internet connection. wacko.gif

Anyway, Lauren is doing ok. The Dr. said that RSV tends to get worse by day 3-4 and stay pretty bad for a few days. It appears that she's hitting a bad patch because her oxygen levels taper off when she doesn't have O2 nearby. Instead of putting the tube down her nose, they just have the tube pointed at her face and she's doing much better. He said they will probaby keep her another day or two and that she may have wheezing and coughing for the next two years or so. I have an apnea monitor and nebulizer to use at home now.

I have to say that the childrens hospital is the most depressing place I've ever been. bawling.gif I know that we have hit a bumpy spot in the road but at least we are all still alive and no one has any terminal illness KWIM? I'm thankful that we have such great insurance and drs. I also realized last night, as I was nursing Lauren and looking into her big brown eyes, that we have received a unique bonding opportunity and so I"m making the most of it. wink.gif Since I was in the hospital for the first weekend that she was home, I was feeling like I had really missed out on something but now I think we've caught up. LOL

Katherine came to the hospital to visit yesterday. I went to the waiting area to hang out with her while DH and MIL went to see Lauren. K is really having some adjustment issues and that bums me out. sad.gif I really think that she just has no idea how to comprehend why I left to go to the hospital last weekend and now Lauren and I are both gone. Poor kid. She was actually acting up a bit near the end of last week before Lauren got sick but DH said he was getting worried about her. I suspect that she would have been fine if it werent' for all of these hospitalizations. She misses her mommy & her mommy misses her too. bawling.gif

Ok, I"m off to shower and nap & play with K for a bit then back to the hospital.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and positive thoughts. wub.gif

Hopefully Lauren will start to get better and you can bring her back home. Poor K. There has been a lot going on these past few weeks and probably more then she can comprehend. jcc64 replied: Oh Cary, it's so good to "hear" your voice. Thanks so much for taking the time to pop in here and let us know how you're doing. I'm sure it's been a strain on the whole family- it's stressful enough bringing a new baby home without all the trauma you guys have endured over the last month. It's inevitable K would struggle with all of these recent developments, but it's incredible how quickly they bounce back after just a little one on one time with mommy. She's gonna be fine in the end. Kwym about children's hospitals- my brother works in a pediatric intensive care unit, which I have occasionally visited, and I honestly can't get out of there fast enough. It definitely puts it all in perspective, as you alluded to. It amazes me how you're able to find a silver lining in all of this, but apparently you have- and it's one of the things I like most about you. Be well, stay strong, and know we're all behind you.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Isn't it weird how significant illness provides one of the best attachment opportunities? So glad Lauren is doing pretty well and hopefully all will be home soon. K's had lots of change lately but kids are remarkably resilient. I'm sure once everyone is home things will be better for everyone!! Well keep praying for you all!

5littleladies replied: Thanks for the update Cary! I'm so sorry that you guys have been having such a rough time. I really hope and pray that you are all home safe and well soon. And I'm sure that K will adjust quickly as soon as everything starts to settle down. You are still in my prayers! grouphug.gif

amynicole21 replied: I'm glad to hear you've been able to get some "down time" with K. It is so taxing to constantly be in a hospital. sad.gif It must be so hard for K to understand what's going on, but she's a good girl and a smart girl and she'll get through this with you. I hope that Lauren begins improving soon!!!

loveydad replied: We missed you! Poor Lauren, I hope she's feeling better and ready to come home soon!

It's been a tough time for you guys lately, I can't blame Kat for having adjustment issues... with all that's gone on. She'll settle down. smile.gif

mummy2girls replied: (((HUGS)))) Im so glad to hear from you and hear that lauren is doing good and getting better!

Childrens hospitals are the hardest things to go to. I lived in one for 2 weeks with my son and it was horrible!

A&A'smommy replied: awww hun I'm glad you were able to go home and get a little rest and visit with K I know she must really miss you! Its good to hear from you I was missing you (even though I haven't really been on today) and I have been thinking about you and your little ones a lot!! You and your poor family have had a rough patch I REALLY REALLY hope things calm down for you guys! take it easy (as much as you can) and let us know when you can bring her home! ((((BIG HUGS)))
