MommyToAshley replied: Jessyann, welcome again!

When I was PG, I liked the book "What to Expect when you are Expecting". I liked the way it was formatted... Q & A style.

You can find it at any baby store, book store, or even amazon (there's a link to amazon above).

ediep replied: Hi and welcome

I haven't seen any dvd's or videos but I did see a show that I liked a lot...
pregnancy for dummies (wierd title, but it was really good) there might be a book or video that you can get online.

A book that I really liked is called The secrets of the baby whisperer

God Luck!

I have a thumb.gif for the "What to Expect When You are Expecting" Book. I always had that book open when Jade was a new born. It's a great book and I highly recommend it.

+Zemirah+ replied: Hi! There are a lot of good links online as well (and I am the google queen) biggrin.gif I will run some good ones down for you later on and post. smile.gif

Welcome!! and congratulations on the new baby!

As I was getting close to delivery, I got addicted to the birthing stories they show on the Oxygen network on Saturday/Sunday mornings around 9am. They also have them on TLC sometimes in the evening. On the other hand, I didn't enjoy the series "Maternity Ward" on TLC because it seemed like they were all emergency or problem type situations---that show only made me worry! Anyway, if you have cable, you might enjoy those shows as a way to prepare for all the different sorts of experiences you might have on the big day (or days!).

There is a book called "Birthing from Within" that is really nice for someone who wants to have more control over her own experience---even if you don't end up wanting or having a natural delivery, it has a lot of ways to prepare for the pain of childbirth and to make the experience less "medical". If this book interests you and you can't find it, let me know and I'll mail you my copy.

Welcome to the group! My baby was a November baby too (November 25, 2002).

A&A'smommy replied: hey Thanks so much for the info! Thats a great idea to watch those shows although i dont have oxygen but i do have tlc, i use to watch those shows all the time before i got pregnant and right at the beginning but then all it did was make me anxious so i quite watching them. Your baby is almost one thats great congrats!! And thanks to everyone else who sent their advice!!!!!

Jamie replied: ok im a guy here and giving advice to someone whos pg seems kinda weird and out of the odinary(sp).......but my wife is pg and this is my first baby(her 3rd) but the first thing she told me to read was the What to expect when your expecting book, it was a great book, even for me cuz it put everything that a woman goes through into perspective, and if daddy is around a good book is The expectant father, and right now im reading How men have babies by Alan Thicke, its a good book so far, it puts a comical twist on pregnancy for guys, although DW doesnt think some of it is so funny. another thing DW told me to do was watch this documentary called The miracle of life, i havent been able to find it but she says its awsome, it shows you the fetus as it grows during the 9 months, still trying to find it cuz i really wanna see it

well thats all from the male advise colume(sp) of Jamie
write back soon biggrin.gif lol

+Zemirah+ replied: darn it! I keep meaning to come back on this thread and give those links! I will do it -- promise!! -- but most of my links are on my old comp and with Dh out working 80-90 hour weeks I am having a hard time getting to be online alot. Sorry! sad.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
Jamie,
It's neat to hear things from the Dad's perspective! My DH read everything I did plus some. In some ways, you remind me of him. You're going to be a great dad!

Guest_Jessyann replied: Hey,
Im 29 weeks!!! and im so excited and ready for this long wait to be over! I havent gotten anything for the baby except a few clothes and a starter car seat, a bouncer and a few toys that we wont need for a while, some of those things were my sister-in-laws. I go back to my doctor thursday and i cant wait to see how much bigger my little baby girl has gotten!!! Its amazing how much you can love something you cant really see!
