High-waisted jeans
coasterqueen wrote: ICK! That's the new fashion for spring this year? Ick, Ick, Ick! If that doesn't make a person's thighs and butt look bigger I don't know what would.
Anyone like high-waisted jeans?
ediep replied: no way.... but I also hate the ultra low rise that show your my butt when I bend over
gr33n3y3z replied: ewwww I hate those
Kaitlin'smom replied: do you have a pic? I am not sure I totaly get what your talking about
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I can't do ultra low ones either, but I do like a low waist because it makes the hips and butt look smaller...I can use all the help in the world in that department.
Who comes up with these fashions? I mean why would they go back to high-waisted jeans? It's as obsurd (to me, IMO) as going back to straight-legged pants.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I was kind of hoping the high waisted jeans of the 80's would stay in the 80's. I like to wear mine just below the waist because they do make that whole area looks slimmer.
coasterqueen replied: I saw it in People's mag this week. I could scan a pic but it would be in black and white.
jcc64 replied: Yeah, I'm having a hard time conjuring up what that would look like in a fashionable incarnation. All I can think of are the dreaded "mom" jeans.
hoosier momma replied: This is a scary thought really. I also consider them the "mom" jeans. Or at least the unfashionable mom.
luvbug00 replied: Brads girl wears them, gives me a good laugh every time.
TANNER'S MOM replied: What!!! after I lost a billion lbs so I could wear the sexy low rise jeans..'
I pierced my belly button and no way can I wear high waisted jeans..sounds painful.

ZandersMama replied: ewwww! no way!
luvmykids replied: Not only NO but HE** NO!!!! I don't care how "out" they get, I'll NEVER give up my low rise bootcuts!
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
OMG you guys!! I'm ROFLMBO over here!!!
I hate high waisted jeans. What are they thinking??? The skinny leg jeans are atrocious, too. You can only get by with wearing those if you are a size 0 and shaped like a boy. But the high waist?? They look good on no one!!
I read somewhere that if you have a long torso you should wear a higher waist jean to make your legs appear longer. I have a long torso, but there's no way I'm giving up my low rise jeans, short legs or not.
Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks for the link and wheeww I was starting to think mine were high waste but they sit just at waist, I was hoping I was not wearing 'mom' jeans, or unfashionable. I do like some of the just below waste, I woudl like to have more once I drop a few more lbs
jcc64 replied: That LLBEAN link is not what the OP was referring to. Those are for sensible moms, not fashion victims. Here is what I think Karen saw in the magazine (not that they also aren't hideous) http://www.style.com/shopping/itemoftheweek/070605/

CantWait replied: When I saw the topic title, I had to do the double take, ICK aren't those way out, who the heck would wear those face
Won't catch me dead in those.
luvmykids replied: LMBO....when I saw the topic I thought "Hmmm....how do I break this to her gently?"
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Me too!!!
gr33n3y3z replied: either way they are all to high for me lol
HuskerMom replied: Oh wow, there's no way I'd ever where those. I'm so glad I was little in the 80's so I never wore them
coasterqueen replied: Thanks ladies. It's nice to know you got my back in case I ever make such a fashion statement.
Even the pics you all have posted don't seem to do those lovely jeans any justice. The ones I saw were absolutely hideous even on the stars that were wearing them.
Here's an article talking about some celebs wearing them (and some pics): High waisted pants
Here's another pic for you:
A&A'smommy replied: NOPE yucky!!!!
A&A'smommy replied: I don't think those will last very long I haven't seen anyone wearing them they are SOOOO ugly!!!
Nina J replied: Skinny leg jeans are good, I wear them all the time. You don't have to be a stick insect to wear them
High waist jeans are awful
ediep replied: oh man, even Scarlett Johanssen looks horrible!! I dodn't think that was possible
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I agree. I wish I could have shown you the other pics in People. They had a pic in there of Gwen Stefani, Cassie and Sienna Miller. I thought Gwen's thighs and butt looked absolutely AWFUL in them. Cassie looked grandma-ish and Sienna looked like she had no waist. I feel bad for saying that about them but geesh get rid of that style! ICK!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: No way! I hate the ultra low rise jeans too though - I can handle the low rise when I'm skinny but my preference is the "just below waist" jeans.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Well I own a pair of skinny jeans here! And I love them with flats or heels! As far as the high rise waist, I don't think it's all that bad if you're going for a vintage 40's look. Maybe a big belt over it would fix the wrinkles Scarlett is getting in the middle of her jeans. It's not an "every-day" look IMO, which is why I think the celebs can carry it off because they never wear anything twice anyway! I know I'm playing devil's advocate here. I wouldn't wear them myself, but hey, anything can be considered in style with the right shirt and accessories IMO. Well not everything, but a high-waisted jean, ahhh who cares. I bet JLo looks great in them. I'm getting a little bored with low-rise flares anyway. Who wants to see crack, love handles and dirty cuffs anymore! Not me!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Rae you can totally pull off skinny jeans. I wouldn't be able to.
That first picture of jeans that Jeanne posted were okay. I could see wearing those if they were slacks and not jeans. And with the right shirt and accessories it could be cute. ONLY b/c they are flare legged. But what comes to mind with high waisted, skinny jeans are the LLBean photos posted. Or the old fashioned Lee jeans with the tapered leg and the butt that flares out and makes you look like you have HUGE saddlebags. Those I can't go for.
And I saw that picture of Scarlett yesterday. Awful. Just awful.
msoulz replied: Ha ha, I can't wait for the next time "mom jeans" are in style, then everyone will be saying how much they hate low rise, wide legged jeans!!
Yeah, I'm older than most here and remember the 70's when the current style was "IT" and then it went out, and NOONE would be caught dead in "hip-huggers" and now it is back with a different name.
And yes, my friends have tried to get me on that TLC show for people who don't know how to dress, in case anyone is wondering . . .
beavair replied: I am THRILLED that stores like NY & Co. have started making higher (not high) waisted jeans. My favorite NY & Co jeans are stretch, bootcut that hit at my belly button. I am tired of exposing my underwear to complete strangers, other parents, teachers, etc... and I definitely do not need to see other women's underwear. I still remember going to my daughter's church preschool for a little show and the mom in front of me was exposing her thong! eeew! I still have some rolls of skin that spill out (nice huh?) when I wear low rise. (I guess I will never be able to get that skin back together after having an 11 lb-er and a 9+ lb-er!) I love how the higher waistelines pull my tummy in. The highest I would go would be at my belly button. I would also make sure my shirt covers my belt line--no short shirts with high waisted pants/jeans!
beavair replied: And did anyone see Gwen on SNL? She wore this hideous one piece (I believe it was even white ) with a high waisted belt. you could totally tell she had had a baby! not flattering...and the yodelling was just as bizarre! (I miss the old Gwen!)
Brias3 replied: A fashion I won't be following!
IMO, they make even the thinnest, nicest body look weird!
