Hillbilly Housewife wrote: She's getting harder and harder to put to sleep in the mornings... she usually take a morning nap at around 9:30, until about 10 or 10:15... I think I'm going to try to move up her nap until she just plain sleeps longer in the mornings, because she's unbearable by her afternoon nap if she misses her morning nap.

I forget how old babis are when they give up a nap...

so how old was your baby when they gave up one of their naps?

Boys r us replied: Both of my boys gave up their morning nap completely by about 9 months.

It takes a week or so of them being grumpy to find and adjust to a new sleeping schedule and be happy little campers again! Be patient, she'll figure it out on her own!

Our Lil' Family replied: Thomas was 15 months. He actually gave up the afternoon one first, his morning naps became 2 hours and he fought me in the afternoons so I knew he was ready. I just pushed his nap from 10 to 12 and it's been fine since.

moped replied: I hate it when that happens - you will ;augh but Jack was 21 months when he gave his morning nap up tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied: Kylie was almost 2 when she gave up morning nap, I think. I'd have to look in my journal. She still takes one nap. blush.gif

Megan, on the otherhand gave up 1 nap months ago dry.gif and I can barely get her to take the other nap. She's a stinker!

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Andrew still takes two naps, but when he was around 10 months I thought for sure he was giving up the morning one because he just wouldn't go to sleep when I put him down, but I kept trying and after a week or two he started taking them again. wink.gif I think it was just a phase - he was learning new things and wanted to play all day and not sleep. tongue.gif

CantWait replied: Don't remember with Robbie, but Anthony never did have a morning nap. He still naps late in the day now, or sometimes I try and put him down after lunch or else he's a little *&%^$%& in the evening.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Now this has gotten me thinking ~ Andrew has been giving me a really rough time at nap time in the mornings again for the last few days. I thought it was just because we just put some toys in his room and he wants to play, but now I wonder if he's getting ready to give up a nap. unsure.gif He goes to sleep a lot easier for his afternoon nap even with the toys in there. bigthink.gif

ediep replied: I think Jason was about 1 when he gave up the morning nap, he didn't stop taking an afternoon nap until he was about 3 or maybe a few months passed his 3 birthday.

It took him a few weeks to adjust to not taking a morning nap, I put him in for his afternoon nap a little earlier for a while

MyLuvBugs replied: She's almost 1 right?? That's about when Lorelei gave hers up. I think she was 10 months old?? Somewhere around there.

skinkybaby replied: Grace was about a year and a half when she gave up her morning nap. But even then I would make her rest and have some down time

Maddy'sMommy replied: Maddy was about 13 months when she went to only one nap.

3xsthefun replied: I can't remember. blush.gif

I know Kaitlynn took a nap for me up until she was 4 years old.

Maegan she stopped taking any naps in the afternoon about few months ago. She sometimes tries take a nap in evening if she is too tired. I wish she would still take a nap for me, because she gets so grumpy sometimes before bed time.

*I can't type today*

Boo&BugsMom replied: Tanner was about 1. Since he was a daycare baby, and at most daycares around here they have the 1 year olds down to one nap on their daily schedule, we converted his schedule to one nap by the time he was 1. All kids that come to my daycare too by the age of 1 take just an afternoon nap or else it's too hard to do my program. They get use to it after awhile. Usually when they convert to one afternoon nap the nap will last longer too, so it's not so bad. So, instead of two one hour naps, they may take one 2 hour nap, for example. Not all, but it seems to be the norm from what I've seen. It all works itself out.

Nathansmom replied: Nathan didn't give up his morning nap until he was 19 months, although we had days here and there where he didn't take one of his naps, normal for him was two 2 hour naps until last month.
