Horrible storms last night, no power
coasterqueen wrote: Ugh! We had horrible horrible storms last night with terential (sp?) rains and heavy winds, hail, the whole works. We lost power last night, none of us could sleep because it was SO hot. I was for sure it would come on before I had to go to work this morning but it's still not on. DH went to borrow my parents generator this morning because I have over 50 ounces of frozen breastmilk in the freezer and I just went and spent $220 last night at the grocery store. The fridge and freezer were not very cold this morning.
Then my boss called and said "I'll see you in the office in just a bit". He lives right down the road from me, he had no power, but he showers at the Y. I had to take a cold shower and am sitting her at work with wet hair and in my bummy clothes.
What a way to start a Friday, huh? Corn fields around us are completely flattened, Kylie's playhouse was sent across the yard in the winds and the roof is missing on it. SIGH.
gr33n3y3z replied: Wow That sounds like a bad storm that went through I hope everything is ok
amynicole21 replied: Wow! Sounds like here during the hurricanes... my friends showered by jumping in their pool
amymom replied: Wow. I hope you get power back soon. I hope all goes well. I am sending vibes for NO Spoiled food please!!!!
DansMom replied: Oh, all that precious milk!! I had that happen during the big blackout (was that 2 years ago already?). It was so hard to throw that all away. I hope you can keep it cold enough until the power comes back.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Wow that sounds terrible! I hope you can save all your breast milk ~ that would be a bummer to lose.
3xsthefun replied: WOW, that sounds like a really bad storm. I hope you get your power back soon!
mckayleesmom replied: Yikes.....sorry girlie....hope it comes back on soon.
ammommy replied: Yikes, it sounds like you got what just missed us. I hope the power comes back soon.
jacobsmama replied: How rude of your boss! Sounds like you had bad storms hope everyone is doing fine.
coasterqueen replied: THanks everyone. DH is at home now babysitting the generator to ensure it stays running and my breastmilk doesn't thaw. He even got a tv plugged up to it and is watching Star Wars as we speak. I asked him why he did that and he said because he was bored. My response was "well the whole stinkin' house is filthy, laundry needs to be done and the yard needs mowed......and you are bored?!" He said "well I just don't feel like doing anything. I want to relax". I said "well then when I get off work this afternoon forget about me mowing like I said I would. I think I'm just going to sit and relax". His response was "ok". MEN!!!!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh how horrible, any clue when they mgiht have your power back on? I hoep the generator can hold up.
I hoep you day gets better
mom21kid2dogs replied: So sorry! Hope you were able to get all your perishables saved.
Ours was off some over the night and came back on at 8am. Olivia had just gotten up before that and said "Mom when we get back from safety town can you call the light bulb man and ask him to turn our lightbulbs back on?" Just then, the power came back!!! Guess you just have to know the right people
kimberley replied: omg! well glad everyone is alright but what a drag! you'd think your boss would take a day considering the circumstances . glad the milk was saved and at your DH.
MissyKay2005 replied: Awww sorry to hear that! Hope it is back on soon for you so you don't lose all your groceries! Or your husband can get the generater going.
A&A'smommy replied: OMG girl!!! I'm glad that the bm was saved!! I know what you mean about men though!!
