Hot Mama's - need ideas
mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: Maybe this should go in entertainment...but I've told you guys before that I started my own Hot Mama's Club in which a large group of women and I go out to dinner and drinks once a month. No kids or DH's allowed. I'm the coordinator. Anyhow, for October, I plan to have the HMC at my house. Some of the moms want to do potluck fondue...I would probably provide the drinks. But I need some other fun ideas. For example, I would love to have either a purse party (where someone sells really posh handbags) or maybe a wine tasting party. But I don't know where to find someone who sells this type of stuff. I've found wine parties, but I guess I really want purses...or SHOES!!! Wouldn't that be great?!!
Any ideas? I really want it to be unique...no fake flower arrangements or vanilla candles or (lol) tupperware...but, you know, fun hip girly type stuff!!
3_call_me_mama replied: Rae you crack me up No vanilla candles or fake flowers LOL! Actually I do have an idea. What about a spa party? I think Beauty Control does them... they treat you and guests to a mini spa, with scented neck wraps, eye pads, hand and foot therapy, it;s a lot of fun adn VERY relaxing. Plus as the hostess you get a bunch of neat things free
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oooooo I like the spa idea! Do you know a website?...would they list people who do it in my area? That's how the wine people worked.
I hope I didn't offend anyone with the candle and fake flower thing...but I went to a cocktail party once where the hostess' friend tried selling us all scented candles and really ugly candle holders. I felt so bad for her, no one bought anything. We all just wanted the good wine and food!
3_call_me_mama replied: It's Beauty Control Spa Escape Page
mckayleesmom replied: Hey Rae...have you seen that movie OLD SCHOOL.....
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: No....
I know that it's sorta funny that I want to do this because they had an episode on Sex & the City where the girls were making fun of their older (my age) friends who throw purse parties and get together to bit** about men, etc. Does Old School make fun of thirty-somethings like me who try and stay up on the latest?? LOL...I'm totally laughing at myself here.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Or wait...I'm having fun trying to guess...was it one of THOSE type of parties?? I totally want to throw one of those "girl" parties, but I mentioned it to one of my friends and she said she didn't know how the others would react. I don't want to offend anyone...my club is going so strong! Don't want to ruin a good thing...
ions_momma replied: Yeah it was one of those! LOL! I have been to one of those before! They are fun! I understand your point about not knowing what the other ladie's reactions would be to it though. I like the spa idea and the purse idea! Both sound like fun to me!
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I would totally dig one of "those" parties
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I would totally go to the purse, spa or wine party. I'd even go to one of 'those' parties. Of course you already knew that about me, though.
I think whatever you decide will be awesome!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I know you would Lisa...but it would just be you, me and a magnum of wine!! My other friends are pretty conservative...
mckayleesmom replied: Rae...I will meet you in P and I with what it is...lol
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I've hosted one of *those* before... and my mom, DH"s mom, an aunt, and my grandmother were there, along with about 12 of my friends - both male and female.
It was actually really fun!!
Otherwise - maybe a Pampered chef party - where the seller usually makes something yummy to eat
or a creative memories scrapbooking thing... you make nice photo album pages, you can have some wine - but be choosy - sometimes the seller doesn't like for guests to eat or drink while doing the thing - which can be understandable, as they can make her stay until very late because they're eating, drinking and chatting while doing their thing... lol
Maybe even a poker party... poker's fun, even for girls!
