How Clean Is Your House?
Danalana wrote: Anybody watch this show on BBC? I'm not the best at domestic duties, but I would be ashamed to the point of death to let my house get that dusgusting! Not only that, thousands (if not millions) of people get to see it! I am so mad right now. It's on now if you wanna watch...
Nina J replied: Omg I know, if my house was as filthy as those I wouldn't let anyone in it.
I honestly don't know how people let there homes get so filthy. It's sad, really. I occassionaly go for a few days without doing dishes, but after 2 days I can't stand it.
I will admit, the bedrooms are messy. But not bad messy, normal messy. I just clean them once a week and after 24 hours, there is clothes and toy on the floor. But the kitchen, lounge room, bathroom...I try to give them a quick clean everyday.
HuskerMom replied: I've watched it a couple times. Did you seen the one with the lady that had all the birds? She had slugs or something living under her couch and when they moved it there was lots of film or something that the slugs left behind. It was so gross. Then they cleaned her house and she let the birds back out in the living room so it was just as bad as it was before. That can't be healthy, especially since she didn't clean up after the birds when they pooped.
I think that lady's problem was the birds. But I think some people it just gets so bad and then it's overwhelming and they don't know where to start, kwim?
Danalana replied: It's just absolute filth. E-Coli, Salmonella, etc were found...and not just in the kitchen!
Calimama replied: That show grosses me out. I don't understand how people let their house get that bad.
Kaitlin'smom replied: ya I saw one with a guy whos house was beyond gross, I admit I am not the best house keeper but I do keep the main rooms pretty clean, now my bed room well we wont go there. I know it needs cleaned bad.
My2Beauties replied: I can't possibly fathom living in that kind of filth to be honest. I've never seen the show but from what you guys are saying - ICK!!!! I vacuum at least 2-3 times per week, my dishes get done every day, I use Lysol Wipes on my counters at least 3 times per week, I mop my floors at least twice per week and I sweep at least 3-4 times per week. I mean sometimes there are toys on the floors or clothes in the bedrooms but by no means is my house filthy the way you described!
lisar replied: Okay I will admit my house isnt the "cleanest" in the world. But heck I have 2 little ones and a hubby for a 3rd if I can count him, cause he sure dont clean up after himself. But I am kinda like a neat freak. I clean the kitchen immediatly after dinner EVERY night. I am really picky about that. I cant stand a dirty kitchen. And the bathrooms HAVE to be clean. But I will let the bedroom and the living room go. Normally its just toys and all
DillsMommy replied: There's a difference between messy and dirty. Our house gets normal messy, I couldn't imagine living in filth. Some people are just nasty....
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: I dont have the stomach to watch those shows. ew
Danalana replied: I doubt I will watch it again.
A&A'smommy replied: yeah I so agree!! My house is cluttered (not bad but you know when you don't have the time or hands to deal with it) i cant imagine letting your huse get that nasty
Crystalina replied: I wonder why they have such mold problems in that part of their country? I know when we lived in Germany we also always had mold problems. Even when we lived on base. You could clean it forever and it just came back. That was when I was a kid, my mom was always scrubbing that stuff.
Anyone who hasn't seen it can catch the shows on YouTube. I like to watch that show because it puts me in the cleaning mood.
Calimama replied: Me too, glad I'm not alone.
mckayleesmom replied: Eww...I have seen ones where people had dog poop all over their house.
gr33n3y3z replied: Those people on that show are down right pigs who could ever let their house get that bad show or no show just so gross
DillsMommy replied: Me three!
jem0622 replied: I've just seen a few parts of it. I would not want for them to come and inspect my house! ROTFL.
kit_kats_mom replied: yeah, it's gross. We can be messy but not dirty. The mold issue is an interesting one. We recently found out that other homes in the neighborhood (same builder) have had to redo their bathrooms. Apparently, the builder didn't use a moisture barrier in the bathrooms, just drywall. When we first moved in, we pulled out the old nasty caulk in the tub, bleached it and then ran a fan for 24 hours before we re caulked. Within a week, there was black mold behind the caulk. Turns out, that most of the other homes have had the walls collapse behind thier tile in the showers. When the've gone in to repair it, the walls are soaked along with the insulation and it is all moldy. So, I'm really looking forward to a bathroom upgrade soon.
mommymommy replied: I've seen the show and ugh...is all I can say! I am kind of a clean freak since my daughter!! I don't expect friends/family to be the same, but I am.. there is a difference between a little messy and downright dirty lol
