How Long..
*Diana* wrote: Do you plan on breastfeeding?
*Diana* replied: I "think" Im going to stop breastfeeding when Natalie is 6 months. (Shes 2 months now) I talked to my pediatrician about it and he told me that was a good stopping point. But im still debating on whether or not to stop when shes ready.. I guess we'll have to see!
amynicole21 replied: At least a year, but I nursed dd #1 for well over 2 years. It all depends on what Nora wants to do
MomToMany replied: Hannah is still nursing at age 3 1/2, and Kayla is nursing at age 19 months. They will wean when they are ready .
I'm sorry, but that Dr. knows jacks**t about BFing. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends nursing for a minimum of a year, and as mutually desired after that. If he was any sort of Pediatrician, he would be more knowlegeable on the subject. THAT'S why I don't listen to the Dr.'s when it comes to BFing .
DansMom replied: Daniel still nurses before bed and most mornings, and occasionally when he asks for more when he's sick. He'll be three in November---I'm letting him taper off of his own volition, when he's ready.
coasterqueen replied: I nursed Kylie for 2 years and plan to nurse as long as Megan wants, I think.
I w&p'ed for Kylie for 19 months and hope to do the same for Megan, but I'm still thinking about that one.
moped replied: I BF Jack for 6 months and I do regret stopping!
ammommy replied: I nursed Alec for a year, and had to stop Megan at 6 months
*Diana* replied: I don't think he ment it negatively. He has talked to me about breastfeeding longer, which im still not sure about. Even if I do decide to stop at 6 months.. its 100% by choice. Not by what a doctor thinks or the American Academy of Pediatrics says.
Swamp Lizard replied: I don't really know. I have never made it this long before. Hubby is ready for me to stop when I am ready. But he says the decision is up to me. I have a hunch I will be nursing for a long while because Spencer really enjoys it, and he really hates a bottle.
5littleladies replied: My girls have always started weaning themselves at around a year. I'll probably wean Lissie around then too if she hasn't stopped on her own. That has worked well for us so far.
PrairieMom replied: I quit BF'ing the Boy at 5 months. I hated it when I was doing it, it was painful and I really wanted to have my body back. you know, drink caffine if I wanted to, that sort of thing. It is the one thing that I really regret. As much as I hated it, I wnet through a depression when I was done. I hope to BF the next one for a year. 9 months in the very least. I am really looking foward to it. I hope it goes better this time.
huggybugboy replied: I planned on exclusively bf for 6 months & I made it! Very proud of myself for that since it was really rough in the beginning. I plan on doing it as long as I can but I am drying up quick since I'm never at home with him
