How do you answer this?
TheOaf66 wrote: Tanner asked while in the bath last night what the little "balls" were by his "wee wee" I didn't know how to really explain to him. Keep in mind this is a child that if you tell him one thing that opens the flood gates for a whole sleu of questions. I just told him they go with the wee wee and that he won't need them till he is a grown up. I am hoping he has forgotten about it now.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I think what you said is just fine. short and to the point.
booey2 replied: Very carefully. You handled it really good. If he comes back for more details either refer him to your sweet dear wife, or re-enforce that they are just a part of his body like his arms and legs and he will need them later on as he gets older. You are doing a great job. LOL
kit_kats_mom replied: Well, I wouldn't reccomend telling him exactly what they are yet. Katherine told the guy at Wendy's today that she had to go to the bagina doctor because she had a problem with her bagina.
sparkys2boys replied: OMG that poor guy must of died
I think you did the right thing to
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Perfect answer Troy! I think that left it open so he also feels he can discuss these things with you in the future.
luvbug00 replied: i don't know weither i would've stopped laughing and blushing long enough to answer.
Teesa®© replied: When DS asked what his were, he was in the tub and playing with them. I said, "Those are your testicles, now quit squooshing them because some day I'd like grandchildren!!" [he was pinching them between his fingers OW!]
Since his attention span is literally 1/2 a second, that was the end of that and we went straight into "Cars have cute tires."
lovemy2 replied: You might have wanted to add though that he should protect them from flying objects
Nina J replied: I usually just like to answer questions truthfully, so if I were in your position I would just tell him they're called testicles and thats part of what makes you a boy. I only have girls, when they have asked what there bits are I just say it's you vagina, all girls have one. I guess it is different with boys because with girls, they can't see there ovaries and uterus so questions relating to sexual reproduction don't come up like it could with boys.
msoulz replied: If he was satisfied with the answer, then it was perfect!
My son asked "what are these jiggly balls for" when inquiring about it - I don't recall what DH told him but we certainly laughed about that!
:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: Aaron and Lily learned at the same time what made boys and girls different. They used to bathe together but when Lily got mad because Aaron had a "boat" (he was laying down on his back) and she didn't we decided it was time they started having seperate baths. I just explained that he has a penis and she has a vagina and that it makes boys and girls different and that it is ok to look and ask about but definately not ok to touch each others privates.
We are pretty open with our kids so they aren't embarassed of their bodies. Everything is given their correct names, mainly because I am paranoid...if anything were to ever happen to them, God Forbid, they would be able to tell me and correct authorities exactly what and where.
I know that is morbid but I feel better being prepared and they don't know why I taught them the correct words.
Anyway this got long so...I think you handled it very well.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Um...NO!
In this situation I don't think it was a matter of not wanting him to know what they're called, but at his age he really doesn't need to know about sex ed yet which is what would have prompted the conversation had he told them what they were really for. He knows what makes girls and boys different, but I know if the conversation would have went on, that he'd be wanting to know ALL the details.
My2Beauties replied: Atleast she calls it a "bagina" I cannot get Hanna to change her word usage for it...she calls it a "coo coo" DH's aunt taught her that word when she was 2 and I can't convince her yet that that isn't he proper name for it. Now I find myself saying it
Anyways, Troy, very good answer Short and sweet!
kimberley replied: i agree, if he was satisfied with that answer.. good job.
and to Cary. guess ur not eating at that wendy's again
