How do you not know....

Swood75 wrote: How you are 9 months pregnant and in labor?? I found out yesterday that a girl I worked with about a year ago was pregnant and didn't even know (b/c she didn't get a belly b/c the baby was up in her ribs) and started having pains and thought it was just a kidney stone and went to the hospital to find out she was in labor..The baby was healthy and weighed either 6 or 7 lbs (the girl that told me couldn't remember) Is that possible? If so,I don't know how you wouldn't know... blink.gif

my2monkeyboys replied: I know a lady who has a 1-yr-old little boy. She was 7 months when she found out. Of course, she's a little on the big side and she's always had very irregular periods. But still, I think I'd feel it moving around or something. I don't know though.... Melissa still says she had no idea.

TrulyBlessed replied: I've heard of that before, but honestly I don't know how a woman wouldn't know she is pregnant.....

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: I read an article like this in parenting/parents magazine a year or two ago. I cant imagine not feeling the baby move towards the end of the pregnancy -- but apparently it happens because these stories keep popping up.

Very strange!

Swood75 replied: well, the girl I am talking about is fairly thin..The thing that bugs me though is that I know when I worked there that "most" of the people smoked pot and she was one of them..I still don't know how you DON'T know you are pregnant..That just blows my mind.. wacko.gif

A&A'smommy replied: ummm I can't imagine how she didn't feel it, I'm 7month and Autumn kicks me so hard she HURTS me!!!! ohmy.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I can't imagine not knowing something was wrong - even if you don't know what the kicking is, you should know that something's going on in there. And if the baby was up in her ribs, I would think she'd have problems breathing or something.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I get gas sometimes that feels like a baby kicking. Sooo... emlaugh.gif

ZandersMama replied:
lol was just thinking that

sparkys2boys replied:
That's what I was thinking wacko.gif

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: A big case of denial?? I have no idea how someone couldn't know blink.gif .

lovemy2 replied: I don't know how you couldn't know either - but if I had symptom free pregnancies I would have 10 kids by now laugh.gif

lisar replied:
I do to. LOL.....

DillsMommy replied: I've heard of that before. I could see maybe 3 or even 4 months not knowing, but going the whole time and not know?? Seems odd to me..... huh.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
not just that but when they get in your ribs OMG its INCREDIBLY uncomfortable!!! I have also had gas that felt like kicking but nothing as strong as real baby kicks!!

HuskerMom replied:
That's what I was thinking too. I can't imagine how someone wouldn't know. Besides feeling the baby move there's so many physical things that change.

I saw a 17 year old girl on tv one time who claimed she didn't know until she went to the hospital with stomach pains that turned out to be contractions. She said before she got pregnant she was a size 2 and by the end she was a size 5. Now unless I was eating alot I think I would wonder why I was going up in size. And how would it not be obvious that she was pregnant being that small.

But I don't know, stranger things have happened I guess. wacko.gif

PrairieMom replied: We see it sometimes at our hospital too. its called D-E-N-I-A-L. laugh.gif

I can see how it could possibly be missed up to 12 weeks, I can even rationalize how it could be missed up to 24 weeks or so, but all the way to 9 months, I just don't get it. rolleyes.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: wavey.gif I am one of the case who had no clue till I was they guessed 21-23 weeks , and I was not in DENIAL. I had only gained 5lbs by that point and with as much as I gain and losed 5lbs was nothing to send any alrms off. Oh and when I went into early labor it felt more like gas or indegistion. I do wonder though how you can go 9 months with not a clue. I guess if mine is possible anything is.

Jackie012007 replied: My cousin Carrie didn't realize she was pregnant until about 7 months. She had lots of female trouble and unsuccessful IVF and other attempts at getting pregnant, and was told she wouldn't be able to get pregnant. She started having really sharp pain and bad gas so she went to the Dr and SURPRISE, she was 7 months pregnant!!

She was on the heavy side too, though and didn't notice a change in her weight.

MommyToAshley replied:
I thought about you when I read this thread. laugh.gif I still remember when you came to visit Ashley when she was born... you said, "SUPRRISE, I am pregnant too!" Then only a few months later, Kaitlin was born. laugh.gif

I think everyone's body handles pregnancies differently. That is why those of us that have more symptoms find it hard to believe someone wouldn't know.... becasue we know the symptoms we had. I'd have a hard time not knowing since I gained almost 100 lbs!

mckayleesmom replied: I was almost 4 months when I found out I was pregnant with Russell....and had I not found out.....I could totally see it happening. I had a leap procedure done right before....and I had a pregnancy test done....they must have never checked the results and proceeded with the procedure....For anyone that hasn't had one done...you bleed off and on for a couple months after....so I never noticed a missed period...If I hadn't have gotten nausous from jet lag...and realized I hadn't gotten my period back yet....Im not sure how long I would have gone without knowing....I didn't get big till the very end...and not enough movement to set my mind spinning.

I knew a lady I worked with and she was super skinny....She already had 2 kids and didn't know she was pregnant again until she went into labor with the 3rd....

kimberley replied: i found out late with 2 of mine (3-4mos) but certain symptoms tipped my off by 3mos. i have no clue how someone could not know up to 9mos. i heard this is more common with large women missing symptoms and weight gain. dunno.gif

MoonMama replied: I have heard of it happening but I still can't help but think....HOW? blink.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: strange! wacko.gif But I guess it happens
