How do you rinse your baby/toddler's hair?
MommyToAshley wrote: I can't get Ashley to look up when I go to rinse her hair. She sees the cup coming and looks down and everything runs down her face. I used to just go ahead and rinse anyways and just wipe her face off. She won't wear one of those visors. Now, when she sees the cup coming, she smacks it away with her hand and says, "All Done" LOL Anyone else have this trouble?
Since we are talking about baths, does your baby have any other bathtime quirks? Ashley does...
She won't take her bath unless she has this set of toys that used to be her Daddy's when he was a baby. It's a boat, a turtle, and a tea pot that have little people that fit in them. She gets really upset and calls out for the boat if they're not in her bath. She knows what each piece is called, but she asks for the boat but means all of them. LOL
I also made the mistake of being silly one night and putting shampoo on the duck's head. Now whenever we shampoo her hair, she wants me to put shampoo on the her ducks too. And, then she wipes them off with her washcloth. I bet we have the cleanest duckies around. LOL
A&A'smommy replied: lol i cant help but say how cute that is!!!!
paradisemommy replied: taven's never been a good "rinser" either. i started off just tilting his head back but he doesn't like that at all because as soon as he can, he looks down just like ashley. he was getting pretty good for a while and i would tell him "close your eyes" and he would but he stopped doing that and i am back to tilting his head and dumping the cup of water over him. BUT he's getting like ashley and if he sees the cup coming, he swats it away or grabs it and will hold it under the water.
hmmm..bathtime quirks..taven has a huge bag full of toys..well, i have all kinds of odds and ends in it and there is this little plastic golf ball that fits into this little medicine cup which in turn fits in one of those smallest tupperware cups for toddler goodies - i always put them all together so as soon as we get in the tub, he'll grab it and tell me "open"...
we also have these 3 little boats that hook together and he just started calling them "choo choo"
MomToMany replied: That's SO cute about the boat & duck! I don't have any tricks for rinsing their hair either. Ethan uses a washcloth over his eyes so it doesn't run into them. Hannah won't do that, so I just rinse hers as fast as I can, then just wipe her face off. She stands up and tries to get as far away as she can when she sees the cup coming. She doesn't have any special toys, but they do have a bunch that squirt water that they love to play with. DH gave them a bath once, and he came out soaked ! They know better than to get Mommy all wet!
amynicole21 replied: I've been meaning to ask this very question!! Sometimes Sophia will let me put the visor on her, but the ones I have are too big and often end up falling down as soon as I dump the water so that it all runs in her face She doesn't seem to really be that bothered by it, but I feel badly anyway. She will not let me tilt her head back at all!!
Sophia has to play with the little travel shampoo and baby wash bottles while in the tub She will freak out if she can't get them. She won't play with her tub toys at all
jem0622 replied: With my eldest DS I was too careful...meaning that I would try not to get water in his face. Of course he first hated baths and I had to give him a drink of water (I don't know why it was water) & he would calm down.
With Gabe...I just dump water on his head and rinse him. Most times he is fine with it, unless he is Mr. Sensitive. You know that they make these little visors to keep water/soap out of their eyes? My eldest DS hated the visors, but likes them now.

momma2jenna replied: My mom used to hand me the wash rag, and I'd cover my eyes w/ it. It was a long time ago, but I can still remember doing it. It worked for me, maybe Ashley would like that?
Schnoogly replied: Well he's usually so busy playing with something he doesn't even notice when I dump water over his head. I wipe it off his face immediately but he doesn't seem to care.
When we take a bath together I tip him backwards so his head goes in the water. he thinks that is fun!
coasterqueen replied: Kylie loves getting her hair rinsed. I just pour the glass of water over her head which her head is usually down. She makes a gasping noise like "aaaaa" and then looks up at me blinking her eyes and smiles/giggles. It's so funny. I used to try to lean her head back and splash water on her head, but she hates having the back of her head and ears in water. That was a big problem with swimming lessons, lol.
I think since Kylie hates hats she would absolutely refuse the visor thingy.
Right now Kylie loves playing with her spongy letters and ABC's. She would play for hours in there with them if we'd let her. We stick them on the bathtub walls and say the letters and the colors of them and she listens and then chews on them.
I gave her a cup to play with and showed her how she could put her spongy letters in there and other little bath toys and then fill the cup up with water. She LOVES this little game. She has fun putting the letters in the cup and filling it with water and then taking them out, etc. I just have to watch her so she doesn't drink the water out of the cup, lol. She's tried it a few times but I've caught her in time.
It doesn't take much for her to wanna play in the tub. Give her anything and she would play with it.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Claudia loves having water poured on her so she likes getting her hair rinsed!
booey2 replied: Thomas used to be great at this and loved water on his face. But forget it now, it is one big fight. I usually end up pretty wet after his bath.
MommyToAshley replied: Aweee, I love hearing all the bathtime stories! And, at least I know I am not alone in how I rinse Ashley's hair.
OMG, Amynicole... that picture of Sophia is tooo precious!!!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: lol
I just tip him all the way back.. he cries a bit.... lol but it's funny!
That or I use a cloth and put water on his head that way, and wipe it off his face right away with it... or a cup... he doesn't like it that much though...
chloe&tysmommy replied: When Chloe was smaller she would refuse to put her head back so of course she kept her head down and the water would get on her face. But now, she tilts her head back for me like she knows if she dosen't she'll get water in her eyes. I'm was so relieved when she started doing this.
She loves bathtime and loves playing with all the toys, she doesn't really have any favorites. And would probably stay in there all night if I'd let her
Jamison'smama replied: Jamison is okay with just laying down in the tub for me but not for DH --he uses one of her squirting toys and just squirts her hair from the front to the back--she seems okay with that.
Jama's quirk is that she insists that the water be running just a little bit at all times so she can play in the stream.
DansMom replied: Daniel's just starting to get enough hair to where you can't see his scalp in the back But I do wash his head, and I put my hand above his eyes so that the water will not go directly into them. Still, he loves it when I just dump the water over him too. He's a water baby.
I love that picture of Sophia! She's SO cute.
CantWait replied: have you tried giving her a cup to rinse the duckies hair (errrrr head) with while you rinse hers???
I have no stories, except I found an easier way to bath Anthony now, his bath fits on our double sink, so I can put it up there and stand and bath him instead of hunching over the bathtub and getting a sore back...
