How domestically weird are you? - things you do

Bee_Kay wrote: Seriously, some of my friends think I am so weird because of things I do. Here are a few I can think of.

Pillowcases - the open end HAS to face the outside of the bed.

Towels - folded in half and then twice down.

Dirty Laundy - never left on the bathroom floor (omg I get so irrate with that)

Laundry - has to be separated before washing (jeans, colors, whites and towels)

Socks - Always paired up..... never thrown in the drawer not matched up.

Dishes - always done at night.... I hate waking up to dirty dishes in the morning.

Floors - messes are cleaned up right away (I hate walking on sticky stuff)

kayla's mama replied: Towels-Have to be folded with the decorative pattern on top and the smooth folded sides face us when put away....hope that makes sense.

The dishwasher has to be loaded a certain way and only I can to it right wink.gif

This irritates me to no end....I have some decorative kitchen towels on my stove....Everyone who comes over has to use them if the wash their hands or to clean up a mess....NO NO NO NO, they are for decoration not to be used. No body gets it....

The pillow case ends have to be tucked under the pillow I can't stand to see the extra fabric from the pillow cases.

Jason does this and it gets me everytime....when we gets out of his work pants somehow, someway, he has one leg inside out. I wash them and dry them like that....not knowingly, then when it comes time to hang them I have to go fish the leg out. I half the time make Jason get the pants that are like that.

That's all I can think of now wink.gif

ashtonsmama replied: I do alot of the same things you do Barb!

How funny-yes, my towels all have to be folded a certain way and placed face out in the drawer in neat stacks of 4...
wacko.gif
I'm a little more OCD than you I think! And showering has to be done in the morning unless there's a reason to do it at night, sometimes I take 2, but I hate just taking showers at night, because then you're all yucky all day long...
rolleyes.gif

Bee_Kay replied: Oh I agree with the dishwasher loading... The dishes have to be put in there a certain way and certain order (according to height) rolleyes.gif LOL!!
After Ashley load it (sometimes) I've gone behind her and rearranged them tongue.gif

Same with jeans.... Ashley and Tyler are forever taking their jeans off and throwing them in the laundry hampers inside out!

My dh swears I have "issues" rolling_smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Lets see...

Clothes have to be folded while they are still warm from the dryer...if I take to long and they have cooled...I rerun the dryer.

All matching socks get folded....unmatched go in a seperate basket

I hate when people don't use a towel more then 1 time.

I have a pattern on how I load my dishwasher...place for plates, cups..etc.

My pillow case ends have to go on the outside of the bed too.

I constantly try to reorganize stuff....although sometimes I just end up making a bigger mess

some clothes use liquid fabric softner and some only use sheets.

I always have the sink without the garbage disposal full of hot water to soak dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.

Bee_Kay replied: Speaking of towels...... I have a cycle for my bath towels.

After a shower, I use 2 towels. One for my body and one for my hair. I don't re-use the towel for my body, that goes in the laundry.
But, the towel I used on my hair, I use on my body the next day.

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
My bath towels have to be folded and stacked a certain way too! Face clothes are stacked all uniformly as well.

Everything in my fridge is lined up all neat and tidy. Drinks on the top shelf, condaments in the door. If there is a gallon of milk almost gone the new gallon is behind the older one.

I think Im a little OCD about the counters being wiped down and crumb and clutter free! As well as the top of the entertainment center and the little bar between the kitchen and dining room.

Oh and Alex's toys....all his Little People have a basket they belong in, his trucks and cars are all together in another basket...train stuff in a clear tote...dinosaurs in another container all together. A couple times a week I go through his toy box and sort everything back out where it "belongs".

The list goes on really, I think Im an OCD control freak!!

lisar replied: Okay then I am not so bad

1. The shower curtain has to be closed after you take a shower (so that it can dry out)

2. The laundry has to be seperated

3. the towels have to be folded correctly.

4. If the clean laundry sits in the washer for more than an hour after it was washed it has to be redone.

5. the kitchen has to be cleaned right after dinner ( i dont want bugs of any kind)

Thats all I can think of right now.

Bee_Kay replied:

I do that too.
I don't use the plastic shower curtains (they get slimy). I use a white washable one, that I just wash in hot water w/ bleach about once a week.

~~*Missi*~~ replied: Pillowcases - the open end HAS to face the outside of the bed, and at the top pillows need shams...

Towels - HAVE TO BE or i refold, folded in half, half again then down.... washclothes half then half again...

Dirty Laundy - NEVER LEFT ON ANY FLOOR (I have a SIGN that says where the hampers are SO that NO one can say I didn't know LOL)

Laundry - has to be separated before washing (dress clothes, whites, Towels, sabrina's, and colors)

Socks - Always paired up..... never thrown in the drawer not matched up (if I can't find the match I throw it out)

Dishes - DONE as soon as Food or meals are OVER.....(never sit around never left in Dishwasher etc... Eat rinse wash dry put away!!!!

Floors - messes are cleaned up right away (floor has to be mopped in full not just the spot cause then you will have a clean spot and well a not so clean spot)

Clothes in closets - have to be in "groups" like dress long then short sleeved, casual long then short, sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, polos.... I check daily to make sure .... With colors lightest to darkest....Sabrina & I our dresses are done with sleeved no sleeved strapless long short (lightest to darkest).

Shoes - need to be IN GROUPS dress, sneaker, sandals

Coats - long to short

Sabrina's clothes shoes and coats are in sizes also....like i have 18-2t so 18m organized 24m organized THEY CAN'T be inter mixed arghhh no way...

Floors have to be washed upon waking, sweep first wash, and then I dust the house (daily) and then vaccumm. If I need to I will vac 10 times a day.. I hate stuff on the floor...

Bed is made upon waking including sabrina's

shower is cleaned after I am done showering since i am the last to shower (daily) this ensures Sabrina always has the cleanest tubby.

Toys in the play room are picked up and organized periodically when it gets out of hand but always at nap and betime...

Blankets, sheets, pillows, curtains have to be washed at least 2-3 times a month but more if needed.

Laundry isn't done per say weekly.... but it has to be done before the laundry hit the top, i hate seeing laundry hanging over the tops. ARGHH

there are a million more like how shirts have to be folded to the underwear to how drawers need to be organized

Bee_Kay replied: LOL!!! rolling_smile.gif

I LOVE reading all of these.... makes me feel a little more normal about how all those little things get under my skin!!!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wow, and I thought I was the only one!! rolling_smile.gif I do just about everything already mentioned. blush.gif

I'm a huge sweeper...anything on the floor, it's swept up right away! DH was telling me the other day that while he was watching Wil, he gave him some chocolate sprinkles to eat...well of course Wil dropped some on the floor, so he (Wil) got the broom out and tried sweeping them up!!! Guess we know who he takes after!!! wub.gif

Anyone have to have their throw pillows (both on bed and couch) perfectly angled? If someone goes over and sits on them, you walk over and fix them after they get up?? I'm totally guilty of that one!! laugh.gif

kimberley replied: only thing that really bugs me anymore is not putting a new roll on or putting it on backwards. not totally because i am anal, partially because our dumb TP roll is miles away from the toilet so if you have the paper coming under, you have to leave the throne unless you have long arms. that and not wiping the seat growl.gif

** tip... try not to obsess about the little things to dh. i learned the hard way that you can either ask them to help and let them do it their way or tell them how to do it and end up doing it yourself. they will just stop helping after a while cuz no one wants to be reminded how they do everything "wrong" all the time. wink.gif
now.. i'd rather have it done than worry about how it's done.

My2Beauties replied: OK wow I'm so totally opposite of all of you guys then...I do none of the above really. When I fold towels I always fold them a certain way or whatever just out of habit but I honestly could care less how DH folds anything at all. He does most of the laundry anyways, he's OCD about that laugh.gif I could care less about dishes in my sink, I clean them usually from the night before's dinner when I'm cooking dinner the next night blush.gif I can't stand to have to slave over the stove cooking and then to finally get to sit down and relax and eat and then have to get up again to do dishes - yeah right, they can sit there! I barely fold my clothes when they go in my drawer - that is what Wrinkle Releaser is for and organized closet - emlaugh.gif mine is in shreds, jeans here, a coat here, a cute shirt here, a t-shirt there! I hardly even use my closet, most of the stuff I wear is folded up on my dresser piled up until I wear it again laugh.gif Partly I am this way because I have an extremely small ugly house and nomatter what you do, it still looks cluttered and dirty, I mean it's over 100 years old! So I just really don't care about it, now when we move I'll probably be a LOT neater because it will be mine and I'll take pride in my home. Shower curtain - open, closed blink.gif doesn't matter to me. Toilet paper, could care less if it's on the roller or not, I usually sit it on top of the roller blush.gif Oh and we wash towels with our clothes too blush.gif I don't mean to be rude to some and I hope no one takes offense, I just don't see the point in spending my life worrying about a leftover cup in my sink or how DH folded my towels or whether my clothes are organized - life is precious and I work 40+ hours a week, I spend more time with my co-workers than I do my family, the last thing I want to do is spend my time cleaning my house obsessively when I could be spending time with them playing outside, or at Desiree's softball game, or sitting in the livingroom talking and giggling! I remeber my mom coming home from work as a kid and cleaning, we had an ugly house when I was growing up too, another 100 year old shotgun house, so it never looked any different when she was done and I wanted to spend time with her. I mean I'm not a total slob, I clean on the weekends usually, Sunday mornings I mop and do all the real "fun" stuff but through the week - phsaw let me relax!

MyLuvBugs replied: Oh gosh....I think I've agreed with every single thing you've all listed. blush.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied:

Oh I agree 100% and never bug DH about how he does things! He helps out and does his fair share around the house...he has his quirks and I have mine! smile.gif

luvmykids replied: -closets are color coordinated, shirts hung by color then by length of sleeve, like all white shirts together but they go from sleeveless to short sleeved to 3/4 sleeved to long sleeved, so on with the next color. Sweaters are folded and stacked by color also.

-towels have to be folded the same as Missis

-fridge and pantry have specific shelves/slots for specific things. Things always, always, always go in the same place.

-pillowcases also have to have the open end facing out

-closet doors need to be shut unless you're getting something out of them

thats about it, i think

holley79 replied: Nope nothing weird here. rolling_smile.gif

I guess my only weird thing is that the tag on the pillows have to be inside the pillow case. emlaugh.gif
