How long? - Teething Question

My2Beauties wrote: I need some sleep!!!!!!! sad.gif Poor Hanna is teething as many of you know and now you can see the white part of the tooth where it has broke through, but she is not sleeping good at all still and I know that is expected but how long does teething usually last? Last night she woke up like 3 times in a row screaming crying until I give her Tylenol and stay with her until she falls back asleep! I thought once it broke the gum that it doens't hurt then anymore??? Can any of you experienced mommies let me know how long it took your child's first tooth to come all the way in and stop hurting? blink.gif

amynicole21 replied: Once it breaks through it shouldn't hurt them anymore, but there is usually another coming in right behind that one rolleyes.gif I think it usually took a week or a little less for each tooth sad.gif Hope she gets some relief soon!

ediep replied: yea, that is what I was going to say...she probabaly has another one coming too. When Jason gets up at night from teething, his ped told me to give him motrin or advil before he goes to bed so he will get relief for 8 hours.

My2Beauties replied:

Oh see I've been using Tylenol which only lasts 4-6 hours and usually it's just 4! I'll try one of those...thanks!

TylerJ1029 replied: I agree she probably has another one coming in. Tyler had his second tooth come in within days of the first. He's not getting the top. We use tylenol during the day and Motrin at night because it last longer. If she wakes up at night because the meds have worn off try putting Orajel on her gums to help with the pain until the next dose of meds kick in. Good luck because it is not fun nor easy.

Mom2Boyz replied: LIke everyone else said, She more than likely has another tooth comming in. Conner hasn't been extremely cranky, but when he acts like they are bothering him, I give him Hylands Teething tablets along with tylenol, and that seems to do the trick. I hope they come through quick for her.

kimberley replied: poor baby sad.gif i hope those toofers come in fast. Jade is usually sleepless for almost a week when a tooth is about to break through but right now, they are coming one after another. in 2 weeks she has gotten 4 teeth and working on more ohmy.gif it is so weird because she got her bottom 2 front at 5 mos and then nothing for another 5 mos and now they are all coming in at once. wacko.gif

ctymom replied: Erica starting teething at 3 months and hasnt stopped yet! It's one after another. She's had some breaks here and ther.

Hylands Teething tablets.... they have worked great for her. She sleeps really well, unless the teething is super bad.

Good luck... I hope she feels better soon and gets a break.

momof2girls replied: I feel your pain! I was going thru this bad a few months ago
Ive been giving her advil or motrin and finally I can sleep and so can she!
This is a hard stage

Good luck!

Josie83 replied: I don't have any new advice for you, we always used something called Bonjela when cassie was teething, i don't know if you get it in the US. Just wanted to say i hope it gets better for you and you're not too stressed! Keep us informed xx

coasterqueen replied: I with ctymom on this one. Kylie started teething at 3 months, got her first tooth at 4 months approx. and didn't STOP teething until all of her two year molars came in!!!!!!! Sometimes I still don't think she's done, lol. rolling_smile.gif
