How many are SAHM and WAHM
littlemama wrote: Im a SAHM. Alot of those days I wish I did work. What keeps you from going insane at time SAHM? WAHM how do you manage your children and work?
kit_kats_mom replied: I WAH. My oldest is in daycare. I keep the kids at home for the first year and start daycare part time when they start walking. Honestly, I really get most of my work done when DH is home and watching the girls or when everyone is asleep.
Looks like your oldest will be starting school soon. That will seem like a vacation. LOL
stanleygirl replied: I am a SAHM, and can really relate to your wanting to work sometimes. I love my job as a mom, but I miss making friends and talking to other adults. To keep myself sane I sometimes stay up late, and talk online or watch tv, or (rarely) go out with friends; it may cost me sleep, but it's the only time I have for me. Another thing I do is watch my boys sleep at night, it really reminds me why we are sacrificing so many things for me to be at home. And I am lucky bc I get to be with them much more than DH. Best wishes to you!
MommyToAshley replied: DH and I both work from home. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to stay at home with Ashley, but it is not as easy as it sounds (or I thought it would be). DH and I juggle Ashley responsibility, but we mostly only handle the conferences, meetings or phone calls during the day (while the other watches Ashley) and then we usually do the work at night or during her naps. It gets really hectic sometimes and it's like having two full time jobs, but being able to spend the time with Ashley is worth it and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Alice replied: I'm a SAHM, but I don't know if the SAH part really fits.
I'm president of the Parent's board of Julia's Nursery school. I do lots of tutoring after school. I do volunteer work greeting Korean infant adoptees at JFK airport and uniting them with their new families. (In fact, I'm greeting a flight tomorrow ) Right now I'm organizing Brian's 7th Birthday party in June and helping organize a surprise 50th birthday for a friend (with her 3 teenage daughters) in July and Mom's 75th birthday bash in October. So dull it aint!!
mammag replied: I always say I'm a SAHM but I guess I'm sort of a WAHP since I care for two children in my home during the day.
kimberley replied: i am a SAHM and i stay sane by coming here to the boards
Celestrina replied: I guess you could say I'm both. I am home during the day with my son, but in the evening (5:30 to 10) and weekends I work at a jewelry store. I would go nuts if I didn't have time out of the house. However, many say that I am already there.
CCTandME replied: I was SAHM, then worked PT nights out of the house. Back to SAHM until my youngest was about 9-10mo. I was doing VERY LITTLE work at home for my PT job. Now I do both, work PT nights and WAH. It's tough. Especially since my oldest is in school 1/2 day. I have to get 3 kids up and ready to go in the am, drop her at her bus or school (30min drive, she goes in another district), run errands or go home to shower, p/u daughter at bus stop at 11:15am. We get home for lunch and the youngest to nap. It's a crazy schedule, but it's what works best for us right now. I have been SOOOO buried w/ my take home work the past 2-3 weeks. I can't really complain though, more money helps. In 1 week I made 1/4 of what I made in 3.5mo. Too bad every week wasn't like that. I also do arts and crafts to eventually try to sell at craft fairs.
~KARA~ replied: Im a sahm and find sanity in message boards and calling my dh at work 5 times a day!
ammommy replied: I'm a SAHM who used to work 2 nights a week. It wasn't worth it for many reasons so I quit. Now I workout those 2 nights instead. The only way I keep my sanity is to get out of the house as often as possible---park, library, Taget, backyard. It helps that 3 mom's in my neighborhood have kids about the age of mine and we all get along.
A&A'smommy replied: Whenever I get stressed (if I am having a stressful day) I will exercise or go outside if weather permits it... Also I call my dh and tell him how I'm feeling but I can't always do that
