How many naps are you giving now?
MommyToAshley wrote: For Ashley, one nap just isn't enough, but if she has two naps she is hard to get to sleep at night. I think it is because she is taking her morning nap much later, thus taking her afternoon nap later too. Just when we have a schedule that works great, she changes it! LOL
I remember Amynicole saying that the daycare gives a 2 hour nap after lunch. How is that working out? Is that the only nap she takes? Anyone else doing just one long nap?
I would try to push Ashley's nap back to noon, but I don't think she would take a 2hour nap. Once in a while, I get lucky and she takes a little over an hour nap.
Any ideas? She still sleeps about 11 hours at night (if I can get her to bed on time)
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Zach usually sleeps from about 10 - 11....then again around 2 to about 2:45. Then he's usually sleeping by 8pm, and most nights he'll stay asleep until 6am. Sometimes he wakes up once.
But if he's not tired...there's NOTHING we can do to make him take a nap short of knocking him on the head...and we won't do that.
lol!
mummy2girls replied: Jenna now takes 1 nap only. from about 1230(after lunch) till about 330. and then she is good until bedtime which is 730 and sleeps all night till 630...
kit_kats_mom replied: K will take a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. She will go down between 12:30 and 3 depending on what's going on.
DansMom replied: Daniel is trending toward one long nap in the middle of the day, then to bed between 8 and 9. However, if he's really sleepy in the morning he gets morning nap and afternoon nap. Then he won't go to bed until 11 though.
MomofTay&Sam replied: Sammy takes three 2 hour naps a day. Nothing at night but we get up a 7am and get stuff going. He is in bed by 10 and sleeps until I wake him in the morning at 7. He would never go to sleep if he wasnt tired, but he is so active now he makes me tired! LOL
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I am lucky if I can get Maddie down for a nap these days. If I don't try she ends up going to bed at 5 p.m. and waking up at 9 p.m. wide awake. If I can get her down for a nap in the afternoon she will sleep 2-3 hours. She takes about an hour nap on the days she is at school. It really helps us with bedtime b/c it is early enough and short enough for her to be tired in the evenings. But, on the days she isn't in school we tend to let her sleep in later. Only b/c I like my sleep. Therefore, she won't go down for a nap as early and so on and so forth. I really need to straighten up and get that girl on a schedule. Of course when the baby comes we will all be screwed up anyways. When she is in kindergarten it will definetly be easier to get her on a schedule. She will be wiped out.
MomToMany replied: I let Hannah nap as much as she wants, but she usually naps once in the morning at 10 or 11, and sleeps (hopefully) for at least an hour. She goes to bed at about 8 or 9, then usually sleeps all night until about 6 (or whenever the other kids wake up). It's extremely rare for Ethan to take a nap, so I let him sleep whenever he wants to, and if it's close to bedtime, he goes to bed for the night. I'm up at 4 or 5 am anyway, so if he wakes up early, it doesn't bother me a bit.
chloe&tysmommy replied: Chloe naps in the morning 2 hrs (10:30, 11:00- 12:30,1:00) and one hour in the afternoon (3:30-4:30).
I would love if she napped once a day b/c its hard to go anywhere in the morning so I usually let her nap first, and then when she wakes up I can go where I need too. She gets super cranky if she doesn't get enough zzzzzz's.
And bedtime is usually between 8:30 and 9:00 pm
mckayleesmom replied: Im with teddybearmom,,,usually I put her down when she gets cranky. Thats alot lately because her teeth are bugging her. but she really varies on how long she can stay up.
ediep replied: Jason takes 2 naps a day, usually 1 1/2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. He goes to bed at 8:30 at night and usually wakes about 6:30am. His first nap is about 9 am, and second nap is about 2 or 2:30pm.
barelysanewith5 replied: [COLOR=green] I LOVE NAPS....lol! Keegan likes to get up with her sisters at 7-7:30....watches them get ready for school, has breakfast and is ready for nap by 10...she is happy to go down for nappy and will most days sleep untill 1:00....good news for me...I can nap with her or get housework done...bad news is...that's ALL she'll do for the day. She is then up until 8pm bedtime. If she has a real busy afternoon...she gets way beyond crabby and is a bear an hour before bedtime....but daddy and sisters help alot and we manage to make bedtime in the nick of time. I made even my 5 year old "rest her body" until she started school...I am a firm believer in naps She fell asleep most times but there were times I just had her lay quietly for 30 minutes or so. Good luck and HAPPY NAPPIES! ( Keegan is 13 months old and has done this nap schedule for around 4 months now, before it was an AM nap and a PM nap)
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade will usually take one 2 hour nap during the day. The time she goes down changes with how early she got up in the morning or if we have gome somewhere.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Claudia still has 2 naps. She needs 2 naps or she is such a bear throughout the day!
juliajaj replied: Here's a typical weekend day for Olivia, who is 14 months old:
Up around 6:30 Breakfast, play, read Nap from 9 - 10 Lunch, play, read Nap from 1 - 3 Snack, play, run errands 5:30 dinner 6:30 start bedtime routine (bath, cup of milk, walk around the house) 7:00 - 7:30 bed
DH & I work M-F, so she's at daycare from 7:15 to 4:45. She typically doesn't take a morning nap at daycare. I think she's busy playing with the other kids. She does take a 2 hr. afternoon nap (usually 1-3), and goes to bed at 7ish.
I asked the ped. about naps, and she said that kids beginning phasing out the morning nap when they're 1. This is true because Olivia used to take a good 2 hr nap between 9-11. Now she's down to a 1 hr nap, if she naps at all in the morning. The ped. also mentioned that kids should continue to nap until they're 3. She also mentioned that sometimes they don't want to nap when they're 3, but if they don't, they should have 1 hr. of quite time in the afternoon (laying on their bed, looking at books, listening to music, etc.)
paradisemommy replied: taven goes down for a nap about 3 hours after he wakes up and that is usually about 6:30am. he'll sleep anywhere from 2 to 3 hours - depending if i lay down with him or not. we eat lunch and then play for the rest of the day - if i can get him down for another nap..which is a rarity now-a-days..he'll sleep for another hour and go to bed at about 10, otherwise his bedtime is between 8 and 9pm
MommyToAshley replied: Ashely was a little grumpy at her normal naptime this morning , but she still fought sleep and wouldn't take a nap. So, rather than forcing the issue, I thought I would try the one long afternoon nap and I think it is working. Ashley went to sleep for her nap right after lunch around 1:00 and is still asleep. That's 1-1/2 hours! (She usually takes 45 minute naps.) So, I will see what time she gets up and if she goes to sleep ok tonight. I hope this works out better because I just hate fighting to get her to go to sleep for naps!
Thanks for sharing your schedules and ideas.
amynicole21 replied: Sophia seems to be doing great with a 2 hour nap at school (11:30 - 1:30 or 2). She usually falls asleep in the car during the 30min ride home from daycare, but not until about 5 minutes before we get home. Sometimes she'll stay sleeping and I can put her back down in her crib. We wake her up after about 30min though, or else she won't go to sleep at night.
On weekends she needs more naps for some reason - at least 2 1.5 hour naps. I wonder if she gets really cranky at daycare around these times?
coasterqueen replied: Kylie takes anywhere from an hour to a two hour nap in the am, then the same in the pm and then goes to bed at 8 pm and wakes up whatever time I happen to get up, between 6 and 6:30 am. If she sleeps longer naps, she still is tired at 8 pm and goes to sleep, but I've noticed she is pretty restless all night long.
I've tried the one longer nap and it just doesn't seem to work for us.
jem0622 replied: Both of my boys take a two hour nap daily. Gabe goes to bed somewhere between 8 and 9pm and gets up around 8:30/9 AM. He and his big brother take a nap from 12:30/1 to 3/4 every day.
I'm a firm believer in naps. If my oldest didn't get one he'd be a monster at dinner time. No thanks!

asaka replied: My DD is 27 months old, she has only had one nap a day since about 18 months old. She sleeps about 10 hours a night, from 8pm to 6am straight through, and has a 1.5 hour nap around 1.30pm to 3pm in the afternoon. She is a very active girl.
aspenblue1 replied: Isabella will either take one long nap or a couple of short naps.
