How much did you pay for - costumes this year?
mckayleesmom wrote: Dang....did you notice the hike in prices this year?
Russells Curious George was 20 dollars and Mckaylee's Princess Ballerina costume was 25 plus the crown 5 dollars....So I spent 50 on costumes.
Last year Mckaylees costume was 10 and Russells was 5......and Mckaylee won an award for that one.
PrairieMom replied: Ally's was $8.50 on clearance at Walmart, Ben's was 15 on sale at old navy.
coasterqueen replied: The Indian costumes for both girls were $30 + taxes.
Megan's cat costume was free because it was a hand-me-down from big sissy.
Kylie's bat/witch costume was $4 at a consignment shop, the hat was $0.50, the broom was, I think, $3 and the second witch costume I bought was $3. Oh and I bought her some cheap black shoes to go with the witch costume, but she can wear them at daycare to play outside in. They were $10. So the witch costume cost: $10.50 plus $10 for shoes she can reuse.
ETA: I'm taking back the indian costume for Kylie, though.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I got Ethan and Maddie's costumes at the Disney store ($45 combined). I had to buy black tights and a black turtleneck for Ethan's ($10). I had to buy shoes for Maddie's ($10). So, a total of about $65. I could have done without adding that up.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I spent 3.00 total for supplies for 4 kids customes..lol
holley79 replied: Orginally Annika was going to be a VOLS cheerleader for Halloween which I spend 25.00 on the outfit when she was 6 weeks old. She wore it Saturday to cheer on the VOLS with her papa so her Nana bought her a Duck costume. Well it was too small so took it back. She is going to be a unicorn instead.
C&K*s Mommie replied: My mother graced us with buying the girls' costumes this yr. So nothing out of our pocket. I would have bought the costumes but my mother wanted to be the ones to buy them, and would not accept us paying her back for it.
It was $25 for Christian's. And $17 for Kellies. Plus the hairbands and tiaras. (around $10 total, I think)
Kaitlin'smom replied: $20, that was the Sleeping Beauty Costume, shoes, and Wand. Had the crown and tights.
$8 this moring to fix my mistake, 5 piece cat costume, dress, tail, ears and gloves.
28 total for her.
booey2 replied: $2 for face paint,
Matthew is wearing last years costume again - ninja - no added costs,
Thomas wants to be a Zombie so I bought some face paint/makeup to make him all dead like and will jell his hair crazy and put on some old clothes torn up.
redplaydoh replied: Halloween really isn't celebrated here. There are a few who do... and a few that attempt to collect candy out of costume. It is slowly coming here, but at this point not too many celebrate it.
My kids are wearing costumes I got them from the Fasnacht carnival in Feb. Lucas will be a caterpillar and Bryan a bee. I just picked the cheapest costumes I could find and paid about $15 for the two together.
We'll get more costumes for Fasnacht in Feb. again and I might splurge a little and get them really nice ones. I'll post a pic of them once I have them dressed up.
Simplebeliever replied: Yup. I noticed the increased prices. Since Abby is too little for trick or treating, I didn't buy her a costume. We were given a hand-me-down one so that works for me.
CantWait replied: Robbie's cost $30, thank goodness he's worn it 4 times.
Anthony's cost $25, and he's only wearing it once.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Mackenzie's monkey costume was 19.99 plus tax. So I think it ended up being 24.00.
hoosier momma replied: I found a frog costume at Old Navy on sale for only $10. It is a nice warm fluffy one too!!
Cece00 replied: I think Natalie and Jack's were about $20 each.
My 2 older boys wanted to be the same thing for Halloween this yr as they were last yr (Thomas the Train) so that was free, but they run about $30-40. I had expected to pay that much if they wanted to be something else. So that wouldve been about $100 at LEAST for 4 kids. Ouch.
1lilpeanut2love replied: Kaylee's Queen Bee costume from buycostumes.com was $17.99+$8.99 tax. Plus I got her black leggings, socks, shoes, black hat and gloves for a grand total of about $40.00. It is definitely worth it because she is SO darn cute in the costume!!
3_call_me_mama replied: Kathleen's I got last year for $3 at kohl's on clearence in december *she's a ladybug Grahams was bought 4 years ago when i was pregnant with cameron (i was due halloween and was SURE he was coming early and he was 5 days late so he never wore it) it was $10 orignially.... Cameron was supposed ot be a dinosaur last year and my mom bought him a costume for $17 and he never wore it, I ended up making him a wizard instead. So he's wearing hte dinosaur this year.
SO Total I spent was really $3.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I go to a consignment shop for costumes! $12 for a brand new Pooh bear costume for Wil (see below)...probably around $40 at the Disney store originally. And maybe $4 or so for the cheetah suit for Wesley! Good deal IMO! I've actually noticed a lot of Halloween stuff on sale early this year...
huggybugboy replied: I got a Lion costume for Miles that was 60% off. It came to about $10 and came with everything. It's really cute and way cheaper than the Elmo costume we bought first (which he hated.)
skinkybaby replied: My dad paid for Grace's costume this year. He paid about $55 I think.
luvbug00 replied: 30 for my little vampire
My2Beauties replied: Hanna's costume was only $20 at Wal-mart plus the $4.99 for the special ponytail holders I got to go with it. I already had the shoes and the tights so I didn't have to buy those for her.
But check this out, our Halloween costumes were absurd. Mine cost $78 and DH's cost $60
Boo&BugsMom replied: $20 for Tanner's Mr. Incredible costume.
