How much weight did you gain during prenancy?
TeagansMom609 wrote: I gained 16 pounds with my first, which I was very happy about. I ate normal but lost about 10 in the beginning from morning sickness so I didnt end up gaining alot. But with this pregnancy Ive gained 15 so far! I was sick this time too in the beginning but was given Zofran which helped alot so I didnt lose as much in the beginning as last time. My Dr., like all Dr.'s say I should gain 25-35 lbs. I can deal with 25, but I honestly think there is no reason I should gain 35. But anyway im just curious how much everyone else gained, and do you think over eating had anything to do with it, or did it just happen?
My3LilMonkeys replied: With Brooke I gained over 35 lbs. My Dr. said that it was too much, but she & I were both healthy throughout so they weren't too worried about it.
With Madison I only gained 16 or 17. When I was getting near the end my Dr. (different one) told me I absolutely COULD NOT gain more than 20lb. I didn't like that advice at all!!!!
There is no medical reason why you should gain 35 lb...but if you do, as long as you and the baby are healthy it shouldn't matter!
ediep replied: i gained about 32 pounds with Jason. I didn't over eat at all, but I did work out a lot before I got preg, and I only walked for exercise once I found out I was preg.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I lost quite a bit with both due to horrible m/s but i think i gained back arround 20 each time. 25-35 is just the average recomended for a healthy pregnancy.
PrairieMom replied: I gained about 75 pounds. I initially lost 6 pounds just with loss of appitite durring the 1st trimester, but quickly gained that and a bunch more back. At one point I was gaining 2-3 pounds a week. I was eventually told to go on a low sodium diet, and my weight gain slowed down. I started out at 136, and was 200 lbs when I went into the hospital! I actually weighed more than that after delivery. (we celebrated by eating Pizza) This time I plan to watch my sodium intake from the very beginning. I hope to only gain 25 pounds this time.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I gained 60 pounds - and it was definitely due to overeating. If you only have 12 weeks to go and you've only gained 15 pounds I think you're doing good.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I gained 25 lbs with my first, but I didn't put much on until my third trimester. I remember my OB telling me I had to gain more. I thought I was eating a ton! Anyway, I ate really well and exercised throughout the whole thing, but I don't necessarily think that's it...I think it has to do with genes. Although my sister and I are the same size (she's actually even smaller than me), but I think she gained about 65 lbs with one of her girls!! But I don't think she over ate. I think all PGs are different in how you gain. We'll see how I do with this one...I certainly have never really worried that much about gaining weight while I'm PG. I thought that's what you're suppose to do!!!
coasterqueen replied: I gained 30 w/Kylie. I gained around 45 with Megan and still had one month left when she was born early. I was on moderated bed rest with Megan and had done a lot of working out before both were born, with Megan I wasn't allowed to exercise at all. With Kylie I was told to quit exercising at 4 months for issues.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Way too much.
124 - 198 with my first, so 74 pounds (lots of big macs and corn pops)
165 - 202 with my second, so 37 pounds (And I ate really healthy most of the time)
165 - 218 so far.... but I also moved twice and got married, so some of it came from stress eating...... but it's still 53 pounds. (I ate mostly healthy, except for the last few weeks, where I've gained like 4 pounds of water retention mostly.... so healthy, just a lot of it. )
zdk753 replied: With Zachary I gained 65 lbs. I had bad water retention. With Dylan I gained 35 lbs & w/ Kailynn I gained 25 lbs.
kimberley replied: with Jacob i gained about 50lbs with James about 30lbs with Jade about 35lbs with this baby at almost 30wks...about 20lbs.
Kaitlin'smom replied: total about 35-40lbs I dont know what my weight was when I went in the hospital but I had bad swelling so before that started 3 weeks before i went into labor I had only gaind 20lbs
MyLuvBugs replied: Oh sweetie you're lucky. I gained 60 with Lorelei, and according to my mother, she gained 85 with me. 16 lbs is darn good if you ask me. Congrats.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I gained 50 with Mackenzie. I had REALLY BAD morning sickness in the beginning and wasn't gaining anything. Then when the morning sickness stopped I gained like crazy even though I wasn't eating anymore than I did when I wans't PG. My doctor never said anything about my weight. But I did have a 9 pd 6 0z baby, so I lost almost 10 pounds at birth!!
A&A'smommy replied: Um yeah my over eating had a lot to do with it but in the beggining I ate VERY healthy and still gained quite a bit of weight I gained 80 total but about 40lbs was water weight I lost it almost ammediatly have having her!
moped replied: A whopping 80 pounds!
~KARA~ replied: 20lbs with my oldest 20lbs with my youngest dd and 9 with my son!! I walked out of the hospital weighing less than I did when I got prego.
six_kids_at_28 replied: For James I gained around 20 lbs, Ashley around 17-18, Star was a big baby, I gained 25 lbs with her! For the triplets I put on...45 lbs I was all the way up there at 165!!!
Alice replied: 21 lbs with each of the girls.
Nothing with Brian... did I mention he's adopted?
My2Beauties replied: I gained 37 pounds, my doctor asked me to actually gain 45 if I could but I ate and ate and ate and I never did. I think it's just different with each woman. I was so small they wanted me to gain, I only weighed 139 pounds when I delivered I was still really small and thought I had gained a lot. I think they push too much on you, the only way I would have gained anymore weight is if I absolutely ate bunches of pure junk - I think your body knows what you need to gain!
booey2 replied: I acutally lost with both boys around 25-30 pounds but after they were born my thyroid bottomed out and gained it all back.
