How often do you run your dishwasher??
mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: The household task post got me thinking...How often do you run your dishwasher? Or do you always do dishes by hand? We literally run ours at least once a day, sometimes twice. And it's only two of us really...well three, but Wil doesn't eat much. As you know, I like to cook...but my DH and I are the type to use a new glass everytime we want something to drink. It drives me crazy, but I'm guilty too! We rarely go out to eat...so maybe that's why we run it so often. My FIL has a dishwasher, but he PREFERS doing them by hand!! He was shocked when he came to visit that I even used mine at all...let alone once or twice a day!!
Sunflower04 replied: If I am home I run it twice a day. But I am out or at work only once a day. I hand wash if I don't like emptying the dishwasher.
Josie83 replied: I have never in my life owned a dishwasher. I don't see the point in them myself, from what I can make out from my sister's it takes just as long to load and unload the bloody thing as it would to wash them by hand!
Jason and I do ours after breakfast and after tea, but we just leave them to drain so it doesn't take too long. Cassie likes helping to do them to xx
gr33n3y3z replied: Once or twice a day but we have 6 in our house
5littleladies replied: At least once, sometimes twice, and we have 5+ in our house. I hate washing dishes by hand!!
guertin31 replied: Once but we useually wash by hand the pots and pans... but mostly we just run it once...
ions_momma replied: Usually once or twice a day.
booey2 replied: At max once a day and only when it is full. There are 4 of us in our house.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Josie...where are you from again, London? Just wondering if this is a European thing...my FIL is from Holland and doesn't understand the need or use of a dishwasher either. He thinks Americans are lazy! Come on...you can say it...no offense here...I often agree!! Now this comes back to the other post about doing your shopping all in one store. You don't see Super Stores in Europe do you?
Okay, I'm getting off subject...but it's interesting.
Gammy2 replied: Most of the time once daily - we also wash the pots and pans by hand. I HATE TO DO DISHES
MommyToAshley replied: I run ours once or twice a day. Well DH does.... he usually does the dishes.
I have to admit, I hate to do dishes but I would really hate to do them without the dishwasher.
Josie83 replied: Maybe it is a laziness thing, i don't know. Or maybe its the idea of having an added expense for something I would view as an easy task to do! I just would never think I would need one, maybe if I had loads of money an dloads of children and lived in a big house!
And no, we don't really have super stores. but our supermarkets are starting more and more to sell other stuff like clothes, Cds and all of it, so maybe we're changing to become more like you lot I know that Walmart recently took over Asda, which is one of our major supermarket chains.
And you can always ask me anything you like! I don't ofend easily You might need a trasnlator of course, but we're working on the barrier! xx
Boys r us replied: 2x a day!
I run it every morning before I leave, I come home from work and unload it and then put all of the dishes in it from cooking dinner and glasses from throughout the day, run it again and then empty it after dinner and then load all of the dinner dishes and any other dishes from throughout the evening.
MomToMany replied: At least once, if not twice a day. There's 7 in our household.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wow, I guess I'm not as bad as I thought...you guys run it a lot too!!
I wish I could throw everything in there sometimes...even the dog!
Jamison'smama replied: Usually twice a day--and on the weekends I fill it full of baby stuff--toys, pacifiers, sippy cups etc and do a sanitizing load.
dolfinrse replied: Usually only once a day.
Kaitlin'smom replied: should be once a day but sometimes we miss a day
oh and how is this for lazy, I was looking at a home for sale quite expensive it was HUGE, an mansion, well the kitchen had a hug island that seats 12 and 4 dishwashers guess if ones full fill the others up
ediep replied: we only run ours about every other day.
mckayleesmom replied: 2 times a day
mammag replied: Usually once a day here for 8 (including the 2 daycare kids) but sometimes twice.
Now how is this for pathetic.... I ran out of dishwashing detergent (for the machine) and I left them for two days (rinsed but not scrubbed) because I could not bring myself to hand wash and dry them. The last time that happened I just washed them good by hand and then stuck them in the macine, put it on the rinse cycle and let them dry there so I only had one step!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I have done something similar used it to rinse and dry when I had no tablets plus I dont have a dish drainer anymore so I have to put them some place to dry
iluvmysweetiepies replied: We usually run it twice a day, esp. in the summer when all the kids are home. We have 7 in our household. Oh, and yes we have a dishwasher! I hate doing dishes by hand.
A&A'smommy replied: I run it about every two or three days we aren't home very much so we just throw stuff in the oven or on the stove (veggie soup is my absolute FAV) so that saves on dishes.. I wash my pots and pans by hand I have two really nice sets so they need to be handwashed.
