How often do you run your dishwasher?
My3LilMonkeys wrote: I just started the dishwasher and I'm thinking...it's full AGAIN?? It seems like I just ran it yesterday or the day before. So I'm just curious - how often do you run your dishwasher? And do you always wait for it to get full?
I always wait for mine to get full and usually it's every 3 days or so.
stella6979 replied: Oh, I run it almost everyday, I'm sure.
Edited to add: yes, I do wait for it to get full, but I use pots and pans everyday and I refuse to wash them by hand. Not too mention, we seem to use a lot of cups around here. Who knows why we don't just rinse out the cups and use the same ones throughout the day?
luvmykids replied: At least once a day, often twice.
msoulz replied: I probably average once per day. And I do not put pots & pans in. But Erin uses lots of cups, which I could probably rinse and reuse, but I don't.
moped replied: Daily
Our Lil' Family replied: Every other day. I hand wash pots and pans but we too seem to use lots of cups....weird for 3 people.
PrairieMom replied: daily. I do put pots and pans in there too. It usually gets done after supper.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Every day. I put our pots and pans in to - I hate washing anything by hand.
kit_kats_mom replied: we fill it to the brim but it's once a day and sometimes twice, depending on if I'm baking
doublebubble replied: About once a day, and wait 'till it's filled completely
sparkys2boys replied: Daily here for us to and on some days twice
My3LilMonkeys replied: Wow...guess I shouldn't complain about every 3 days then! We do reuse our cups for an entire day here so maybe that is what makes a difference.
seeingblue2 replied: Daily here too lol
~Roo'sMama~ replied: We do that too though, and there's no way we could wait 3 days to run it. The kids get juice in their cups in the morning and then I refill them with water throughout the day. Sometimes I use the same ones the next day too if they smell clean. They get a separate milk cup but they use the same ones all day. And I almost always use the same water glass for a couple days in a row... just because it's handy right there by the sink. I sometimes even use paper plates or paper towels at lunch time instead of dirtying dishes.
I suppose if I didn't put our pots and pans and everything in there I could wait a couple days to run it, but really I have to run it every day because we'd run out of plates to eat off of if I didn't.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Ditto.
Cece00 replied: 1 or 2 times a day. I've had to run it 3 times before
I do put it on "water miser" setting though, unless I put in pots & pans or something a little dirtier than usual.
HuskerMom replied: I so wish I had one! But since I'M the dishwasher I'd say everyday!
MommyToAshley replied: Same here. And, we wait until it is full too.
Our Lil' Family replied: Speaking of dishwashers...mine is SO LOUD. I normally wait and run it when we leave because it's just too noisy. Our new house will have a QUIET dishwasher and I cannot wait to be able to run it and still hear myself think! This is one instance where you get what you pay for, IMO.
Anyone else have an extremely loud dishwasher?
BAC'sMom replied: Oh yes mine can be very loud! Especially when I ask him to wash the dishes.
Our Lil' Family replied:
~Roo'sMama~ replied:
When I was a kid our dishwasher was SO loud. We'd run it every night after dinner and we'd all have to go in a different room until it was done so we wouldn't have to shout to be heard.
Celestrina replied: Never. However, before it started leaking we would run it about every 1-2 days.
5littleladies replied: Usually twice a day-always when it is full to the brim. 6 people go through a lot of dishes!
Calimama replied: We rarely use it.. I prefer doing them by hand.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I wait for it to be full, and with just Logan and myself in the house now, it takes between 3 and 4 days.
MoonMama replied: I run mine every night.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Never (don't have one!)
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Daily,,,,,,,,,,,,,sometimes twice a day.
Brias3 replied: Gosh, I run mine at least once a day.
I had to laugh about the conversation on glasses. We so need to re-use our glasses around here. Just for curiousity sake, I went up and counted the dirty cups in the washer after reading this and I found 19 Mind you, I emptied the washer last night at about 10pm...
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Uh...like twice a day.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Once a day.
Teesa®© replied: 5 years ago, DH asked me if I wanted a dishwasher. I said NO!!!! before he even finished asking the question. Needless to say, he bought one the next day!! His excuse? It was on SALE I glared at him and said it was a better sale had he left it at the store because I WON'T USE IT!!!!! I'M the dishwasher. I LOVE doing dishes!
It's a counter top one and he'd hooked it up and said he'd run it then. Yeah. Right. Whatever. We had a tiny counter at our old place and it sat where the dirty dishes went. The dishes had to go in the sink because there wasn't any room for them. Then I couldn't use the water because the darn sink was full of dirty dishes We didn't have dishes for over a WEEK! I couldn't cook anything that required water because I couldn't get to it!
By Day 5, I'd started telling him to run HIS dishwasher, we're outta dishes. "Yeah, yeah, I'll get to it." Day 6: "I just got off of work, I'm tired." Day 7: "I'll do them tomorrow before work." Day 8: "I'll do them tomorrow after work." By Day 9, I screamed at him to do the freaking dishes and RIGHT NOW OR ELSE!!!!!!. "In a minute..."
I yanked the hoses outta the spigot, yanked the cord outta the wall, picked up the dishwasher, held it up as high as I could and DROPPED IT ON THE FLOOR . He came running in and screaming at me and I just stood there and waited until he was done. Then I told him we have NO CLEAN DISHES and haven't for DAYS and the children were STARVING and have a RIGHT to eat. And now that you're in the kitchen, DO THE FREAKING DISHES!!! I walked out and closed the pocket door.
I haven't touched the dishwasher since. And he never used it, either.
lisar replied: I run mine atleast every other day.
jcc64 replied: Usually once a day. I do not put my pots in, though dh will stick them in if he's the one cleaning up from dinner.
grapfruit replied: You are a crazy lady!
I have a friend who is the same way though. He hates dishwashers. He's very anal about stuff being clean. My friend Kate comes home to find him w/everything pulled out and he scrubbing the wall behind the couch. Weird stuff like that.
mommymommy replied: I hat to admit, but I run ours everyday or everyother day!! I always wait for it to get full though..
Kaitlin'smom replied: when its full so it depends on how often, but I woudl say on average every other day.
gr33n3y3z replied: When our dishwasher worked it was about one to two times a day but this is the 2nd summer its been Lisa and who ever washes them
But my hands look like crap from the dish soap all broken out and itching
