Boo&BugsMom wrote: I ask because I am curious. I tried to show Tanner the other day and he doesn't seem to get it, but he's only 4.

amynicole21 replied: Sophia just learned a few months ago - she's 4. She worked really hard on it though. She still can't figure out the "bunny runs around the tree and goes through the hole" approach wink.gif She uses the bunny ears method.

cameragirl21 replied: according to my mom, i was tying my own shoes at 18 months but i'm not sure if that's true, not that i've ever known my mom to make things up it just seems hard to believe.

Calimama replied: I tied my own shoes at 3. Not well.. but they were tied. tongue.gif

holley79 replied: I have no clue. I think Annika will wear slip ons for the rest of her life emlaugh.gif

my mom said I tied my shoes when I was three. Didn't wear them but tied them rolling_smile.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Emily was 6 when she learned to tie her shoes. Spencer (9) still doesn't know how and Claudia (4) is just learning.

3xsthefun replied: Kaitlynn was 5 when she learned to tie her shoes.

Maegan is 3 and has not learned yet.

my2monkeyboys replied: Will is 4 and I haven't even tried to teach him. Though now that I see that some kids do know at that age, I may give it a try.

amymom replied:
Mary Beth was exactly the same. Tied her shoes at 18 mos. She is very much an independant loner kind of kid. So that fit right in for her. my son hated tying shoes. His teacher marked it off in K and 1st grade as a skill he knew, but he faked his way through that test. rolling_smile.gif

Brias3 replied: Ryan was kindergarten age, so 5-ish. Aliyah turned 6 in November and still has trouble sometimes. Then again, the only tie shoes she really wears ever are athletic type shoes so she doesn't get a chance to practice as much on a daily basis with having to shoe-tie either.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Neither of my girls can yet, but I was 7 before I could tie my shoes. I just couldn't get it. tongue.gif

Cece00 replied: My oldest is 5 and he can not do it yet...I also have not really sat down to teach him...bad mommy unsure.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: All my kids except Justin learned around 4.. He hated the thought and he was 5, But it was something that the Kindergarten teachers wanted them to know.. and how to zip and button there pants and clothes.

zdk753 replied: Zachary learned to tie his shoes when he was 5. Dylan is 6 & is just now starting to get the hang of it.
