Hurricane's a comin'!
cameragirl21 wrote: Remember that line from "The Little Mermaid"? Anywho, check out the latest here: http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/MI96416/ This one could be catastrophic as it's likely to be a direct hit. I live close to the water but luckily I'm just outside the evacuation zone. Not scared but not sure what to do yet...if by tomorrow it still looks like it's headed this way I will probably seriously consider flying out of here. My house is definitely not hurricane friendly, it's got windows in every room and then there's the swimming pool right outside my bedroom, let's just hope the water stays in the pool and doesn't end up in the bedroom. Anyway, off to buy more water, batteries, etc. Luckily I always have plenty of candles around. Still hoping this one bypasses us, Ike will be a beast!
Calimama replied: Stay safe! You might want to invest in storm shutters or windows for next year.. or at the very least boards for the windows!!!
jacobsmama replied: That is very scarey! Sometimes I am glad I live in BORING indiana.
WOW..keep safe!
msoulz replied: Perhaps you should bug out just to be safe!
Boring ol' Michigan too . . . it's not so bad during this season.
lisar replied: Now they are saying it wont be a direct hit on Miami. here is the projected path at 11am. They moved it yet again. And you know like I do. They will change the directed path a million times between now and then.

cameragirl21 replied: So according to that, then Naples/Ft Myers will get it? We will still get some bad weather here but at least not a direct hit if that is correct. I hate to say this because I feel for our fellow Floridians on the other coast but I sure hope it doesn't come here, or to Jax.
lisar replied: Dont forget that projection will change a million times between now and next week. So save that website and keep an eye on it. Once it gets a little closer they NOAA will update it every 2 hours. Right now they are updated I think every 6.
cameragirl21 replied: I know, it's like, round and round and round Ike goes, where he'll stop, nobody knows...but we're going to change our projections every 2 hours or so until he lands just to drive everyone crazy, builds character you know! Parking to get into publix was just madness, but they had some water left and the batteries I needed, well, I got lucky, there were 2 packs of the kind I need right on top of the school supplies, someone must have changed their mind and left them because they were out of place but it was a huge score for me! So now I'm set and waiting for Ike. Haha, 1 and 2 Ike is coming for you, 3 and 4 better shut your door.... I know it's twisted humor but I have to laugh about it, who knows if I'll still have a house or a neighborhood next week so for now, better to laugh and enjoy as long as I'm prepared.
lisar replied: True. We keep our hurricane supply box stocked up during hurricane season. Cause you just never know. And with a "good" normal storm here power can go out, so we always need those just in case.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Yeah they changed it again. They are just not sure past 3 days where that thing is going to go. It is going to be a monster though so I'll keep my eye on it. If by any chance it heads up towards Tallahassee I am out of here. Jade freaked out with Fay and that was just a TS. Not sure where I am going to go yet. I keep hoping it will get turned back out to see.
cameragirl21 replied: you are welcome to come here if Ike heads out your way. what do you mean they changed it again? you mean they say it's not going to sw fl anymore? stop the madness! Hurricanes should be required to tell us where they're going 2 weeks in advance.
lisar replied: If it were just that easy. I would rather have hurricanes than tornadoes. Atleast I see them comming.
IDEA: I am gona start another thread asking that question
MomToJade&Jordan replied: No they still have it headed towards SW FL. I was replying to your original post.
Thanks for the offer We had a tree fall with Fay, a small pine and it made such a noise I thought it hit the house. Jade was besides herself with that. I cannot imagine how she will be if we have one out there blowing at wind speeds of 120 mph. I've been through at least 2 that were pretty scary in my lifetime (Gloria in 1985, hit Long Island, and Andrew...although we lived in Naples so we got the Cat 2 Andrew and not the Cat 5 that slammed into Miami). I am just going to cross my fingers and hope that if we do get this thing it's not the right side of it.
lisar replied: Thats what I always hope for also. If I am gona get some of it, then give me the left side of it. Not the bad side.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I was on accuweather to see where they have it going and this is what I found:
