I HATE WINTER.. ughhhhh

sparkys2boys wrote: every winter I get wicked dry skin.. I feel like a freaking alligator people wacko.gif I use so much lotion and moisturing body bath stuff its not funny and it doesnt help much. Anyone else get this, and what do you use? I find that Aveeno Bath oil helps me some but gosh it makes a mess of the tub mad.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I get the same thing. I use anything and everything I can get my hands on and still spend half my day itching like crazy. rolleyes.gif I find if I put on a super moisturizing lotion right after I get out of the shower, before I dry off, it seems to absorb better and works the longest.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: My legs do look like alligator skin. sad.gif I've tried everything. It disappears in the summer, but it sucks right now b/c I'm going to be at the beach (in shorts, swimsuits, etc) in a few days and my legs are SO ugly. sad.gif

I use the Eucerin cream and it helps some, but it doesn't make the alligator look go away.

mckayleesmom replied: Vaseline makes a bath stuff for moisturizing skin...I think it works much better then Aveeno and without the yucky mess.

sparkys2boys replied:
Really, I will have to look into that then beacause Aveeno is terrible. Thanks thumb.gif

CantWait replied: If you can find it, Uremol 10 works awesome. It's just a plain lotion.
I used it while in Kingston cause my hands were cracking so bad. It burns a bit at first, but you'll notice a difference is less then a day.

Calimama replied: I use regular oatmeal lotion! I hope you find something that works. hug.gif

luvmykids replied: I just started using glycerin...you can find it at most pharmacies and definitely at a health food store, it's super cheap. You dilute it with a little water, and it feels like you're just putting water on your skin, but it works wonders. thumb.gif

luvmykids replied: Also, don't forget to exfoliate. I like the cheap store brand of the Aprictot facial scrub....I use it once or twice a week.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I totally know what you're going through! I hate winter, not only because of dry skin, but because it's so dang cold outside and we can't do ANYTHING!!! I'm so bored...and I feel like I can't get the kids out for months. sad.gif

For dry skin though, have you tried Aquaphor? I use it on my hands. For the rest of my body, the trick is to moisturize while I'm still wet. And I literally coat it on, lotion that is. I use the 365 brand from Whole Foods. It's their non-scented one, since I have sensitive skin. And I think it's only like $1.99 a bottle.

coasterqueen replied: You know, I was doing very good there for awhile, but only thanks to DH. Dh offered one night to lotion me up because I was itching all the time. So he lotioned my entire body biggrin.gif and my body was smooth for several weeks. He did kind of like a deep massage applying two layers of lotion. It worked wonders. I'm about due for another lotion massage because I'm starting to look scaling and feeling itchy. tongue.gif

grapfruit replied:
That sounds very nice thumb.gif

lisar replied: I get this way but only on my back. It sucks.... Cause dh wont put lotion on my back for me. He hates lotion. So I either get my sister or my BFF or Lexi to do it for me.

MommyToAshley replied:
Aimee, I like Eucerin too. But, I wanted to let you know that I read a warning about using it before going out in the sun... something about it will make you burn? I can't remember exactly. Just thought I would mention this since you said you were going to the beach.

I also like the Aveno Oatmeal Body Lotion.

MommyToAshley replied:
I thought my DH was the only one that can't stand the feel of any kind of lotion. LOL
